We loved our stay at Ivy Cottage, it was the perfect base for two of us, with Ambleside only a short walk away and the property being situated on a footpath to Loughrigg Fell. We loved the views from the kitchen dining area and the outdoor area when the weather permitted!. We would highly recommend and hope to return.

Directions to the cottage awful. It took us 45 mins to find it with the help of other people staying locally. Description of the footpath to the cottage is not accurate it said an unfinished pathway up a slight incline. The pathway isn't even started and was very steep, with high uneven steps. It said the Elderly and Impaired may struggle. The man who helped us take our cases up was quite young and fit and he struggled. The cottage is described as on two levels it was three with narrow steep stairs up and down to each level. The twin beds had a wooden frame around the bed and the mattress was sunk down inside it around 6 inches so more like a bed for a toddler. Which meant no where to sit and get ready.Also the twin room has no wardrobe and only drawers under the bed so I had to live out my suitcase for the week. It was advertised as having Ng a washer and dryer we never found it and I left messages and emails asking about this and no one got in touch until we had left. We were not able to relax in the mornings or open the windows as workman were doing work on the adjoining cottage and we were woken every morning at 8 am with hammering, drilling and electric saws it was so loud we just left the cottage earlier so never had the chance to enjoy sitting in the garden. On plus side shower was great and the view from the window was lovely. But overall very disappointed with what we got. It was not the cottage we thought it would have been from the description

We loved Ivy Cottage, great spot near Ambleside and views of Lake Windermere from the kitchen. What3Words location would help with finding the parking spot and cottage, as it was a little tricky as previous guests have mentioned. Underfloor heating made it very cozy.

We had a lovely stay at ivy cottage, the cottage itself is perfect for a cosy trip to the Lake District. Our only issue was trying to locate the cottage upon arrival, as it can not be seen from the roadside.

The cottage is beautiful. Only a small walk away from Ambleside where you can find great pubs and restaurants. Only suggestion for improvement would be directions to the cottage as it is nicely tucked away down a lane. Other than that its everything you need for a break away in the Lake District. Would definitely return to Ivy Cottage.

Wonderfully prepared property in an ideal location. Just a 10 minute walk into Ambleside and situated on the path to Loughrigg Fell. It's difficult to criticise the property as it really is a very nice place but there are a few minor things which, if addressed, would definitely be an improvement We had a few minor issues during our stay. Previous guest's socks found behind the arm chair in the lounge and in a bedside draw. Lots of dust under the bed suggests a cleaner with greater attention to detail might be required. BT turned up unannounced one morning requiring access to the property to fit the wifi. It meant we had to delay our plans that day by a few hours but the addition of wifi will benefit future guests. Maintenance arrived on the day we were departing to fix the shower thermostatic control which had fallen off during our stay, so hopefully that will now be OK. They were unaware that we had had a problem with the swan neck mixer on the kitchen tap which exploded off when the cold tap was turned on to a strong flow it slotted back in to its fitting but we were very mindful not to turn the cold tap beyond a quarter turn a bit of a shock when it happened, but again hopefully this has been addressed. Final issue is the bathroom radiators which don't seem to work. It's a bit annoying as you have to try and leave the towels somewhere warm to get them dry before you need them again do not try to open the valves on the radiators as this results in them leaking. This was reported to the maintenance team so should be fixed.

We had a great stay at the cottage and I would highly recommend it. There is no WiFi and our phones only worked in one spot in the house but that didn't spoil our stay. Wonderful area, great base for exploring the lakes. Some blankets would be nice for the evenings and a coffee machine would be a lovely addition, but other than that, it was perfect

This is our 2nd stay at Ivy Cottage, and the cottage is now looking tired. Outdoor furniture doesn't look like its been looked after, we had some lovely sunny days where we could sit outside, but no cushions to put on seats, and seats covered in green moss. TV in both bedrooms didn't work. Even thou the cottage sleeps 4, there's not the room upstairs to sit 4 comfortably.

Overall the cottage was fine but the lack of wifi should be clearly stated. In this day and age I think most people would assume it would be provided. Otherwise we had a few small niggles but the cottage was in a great location and we enjoyed our stay.

Lovely cottage, very cosy. Great facilities. Great location for walking and Ambleside shops and bars. WIFI is needed plus more information on local walks and using facilities in the cottage are needed. There were plenty of brochures on family actives.

Good accurate description of the property especially the access path being unsuitable for persons in a wheelchair or requiring a walker. Well set out property with the living room on the upper floor, great views across the area Parking permit left in the property it would be nice if there was a crude diagram of where the actual parking is

This was a lovely little cottage however in 2024 not to have WiFi seems a massive oversight, the area isnt blessed with the best reception so we struggled. Basing ourselves here for a course at the university we needed internet access for coursework and reading outside of learning hours which was not possible. The third floor window in the box seat in the kitchen was only held in by one single screw which could result in a terrible accident if someone leant on it. A light in the master bedroom fell out of the ceiling of its own accord, the towel rail in the first floor bedroom ensuite was leaking and had to be switched off. The property needs some attention I think, has the potential to be a lovely holiday cottage but the above particularly lack of WiFi really caused us some difficulty.

Fantastic view! Very cosy living area and a lovely break. However it is very inaccessible and definitely not for the elderly or infirm but to me age 77 it was well worth the struggle. I would go again.

Took a bit to find the location a map image would have been very helpful! The cottage was otherwise great. One thing, though the lower bathroom shower did not drain properly and the bathroom floor flooded a bit, so we had to mop it up. Not a big problem but probably needs tending to!

Had a lovely stay but surprisingly no WiFi which is unusual in this day and age especially given the poor mobile signal in the area. Cracking views though from the top floor kitchendiner. Very good facilities overall and would stay again.

A well thought out and well equipped cottage, ideal for a couple or family of 4. Very warm and cosy. We would definitely stay again.

We loved our holiday at Ivy cottage. The facilities and location are excellent. Unfortunately, mattress quality is very poor. We found a use nappy under the armchair and the fridge wasn't cleaned after previous guests. Otherwise, it was a great stay.

The most gorgeous little cottage in the loveliest location! Already planning a trip back soon! Would love a double sofa in the little living space, but appreciate this may not be possible, and ultimately this didnt stop us from finding comfort here! So clean too, cant be faulted.

We found the property clean and tidy. The description regarding access to the property was accurate and should be noted. We feel the property would be best suited for 2 people as it would be a bit cramped with outdoor kit if 4 people staying. In answer to previous reviews the armchairs had been recovered and were very comfortable but agree the mattress on the double bed needs replacing. However we throughly enjoyed our stay in this well appointed cottage with its direct access to the fells. Will definitely be booking another stay.

The cottage itself was lovely and in a perfect location for us. The things that really let us down was the cleanliness. The place needed a good hoover and a good scrub, the walls especially. The floor had so many bits on it, I had to brush my feet off before getting into bed. Nearly every wall in the house had marks all down it and there was a dirty hand print on the bathroom wall behind the door. When closing the bathroom door there was a big clump of dusty hair behind it, yuck. The dining room table had old food on it. The sofa situation is weird too, think it would be better having a sofa instead of armchairs. These were covered in stains too so I didnt use these. The wet room downstairs was perfect and always so warm!

Lack of WiFi in a property with no mobile reception is annoying, considering most other properties provide it.

We had a great stay at Ivy Cottage. Weather was very kind to us and it was great to make use of the table and chairs outside. Fantastic views and a lovely cottage. Washing line airer would be a good addition.
