The only problem with giving a review of Gale lodge. Is the other people will find out about it. Its comfortable. Great location. An old building with plenty of character. Nice thick walls. So cool in summer. A boot room. Thats great for a family that walks every day. Its also big enough. That if it was a really raining. We could all stay in and not get under each other's feet. Have been 4 or 5 times now. Just looking which week to book next year. Beautiful view of the side of 3-Bedroom Cottage Sleeping 5 with Log Burner in Ambleside from main bedroom. Will return.

Once again a fabulous Christmas had by all at Gale Lodge! The weather has been the best yet. Beautiful blue skies, lots of walks each day. We are impressed with the improvements to the bathrooms. Looking forward to our stay next year!

We stayed at Gale Lodge Cottage with 2 other couples. We found the property generally comfortable and well equipped and the location is excellent. Unfortunately only one bedroom is en suite and the toiletshower room for the other 2 bedrooms were some distance away. For the upstairs the walk is about half the length of the property and for the ground floor it's the full length. For older couples this is an inconvenience, younger couples or families may not find this an issue. The couple in one of the upstairs bedrooms also found the soundproofing poor and were disturbed by the people in the property above them on more than one occasion. We would suggest the owners consider putting a dehumidifier in the boot room as this would really help to dry things during rainy weeks like the one that we had.

What a blast we have had with the family. We particularly enjoyed our wonderful walk to Rydal Water and the Badger Bar. We summited 3-Bedroom Cottage Sleeping 5 with Log Burner in Ambleside and had many other lovely walks. GLC is so cosy, well equipped and comfortable in a great location for door to fell walking and many local eateries without having to use the car. There was only one problem.. we could have easily stayed for another week as we all loved it so much. We will all definitely be coming to stay again soon.

This was our second New Year at Gale Lodge Cottage. We had another lovely time here. There is everything you need in this house, for having a good stay. The Boot Room is great, especially as the weather has been quite wet and snowy. The kitchen has everything needed for making meals and entertaining our family. We have stayed at Gale Lodge twice , the location is excellent, close to the village . There is parking which is essential for Ambleside. The facilities are good , 3 bathrooms , the kitchen is ideal for 6 people and is well equipped.

We were more than pleased with the property from the moment we walked in. It's a bit like a tardis, every time you open a door yet another room. The property is very well equipped and kept very clean. The lack of any welcome pack is my only criticism but that is a minor thing . All in all an excellent property.

Really nice cozy cottage with everything you could need. We had plenty of space for 6 without getting on top of each other and there were more than enough plates, glasses, cutlery etc. Has a washing machine and dryer which I don't think are mentioned in the listing. The conservatory is a lovely place to sit as well as the living room. If you've got young kids it's worth noting the twin room is downstairs and quite far away from the upstairs bedrooms wasn't as issue for us. The boot room at the front door was well used as it rained every day. It was great to get the wet stuff hung up without it getting in the way. Only a few mins walk from the middle of Ambleside and several walks you can do without needing the car. Guaranteed parking for 1 car, plus a shared space for a 2nd. We had 2 cars and when we did have to park on the street it wasn't an issue.

Have stayed at Gale Lodge with the family a few times and the cottages size, location and facilities are perfect.

The property is in an excellent position close to the village and has lovely views from the living room and main bedroom. The only negative is the internet is patchy and drops off all the time, so watching the television through the smart TV is terrible and frustrating.

This the second time we have been this year and it just gets better but the central heating broke down on the Thursday and response time was excellent fixed and back on within a couple of hours seen the temperature was below freezing most of the time but still had a great time and got away just in time on the Saturday before the big snowstorm

The latch on the gate could do with some attention and there were snailslug trails in the living room every morning. Molly pup did try to find where they were coming from but to no avail.

Bring an old property we found it quite dark apart from the conservatory and downstairs bedroom. There were small steps up and down between downstairs rooms and uneven floorboards which could cause some people to trip. This was not the owners fault but maybe would be good to explain in description. Everything else was ideal and we had a great holiday.

Lovely stay at Gale Lodge Cottage, the 2nd time weve stayed here and love the location, so close to the centre of Ambleside with loads of great Shops, Bars, Restaurants and really great access to the Lakes Bus Service which meant we only took the car out a couple of times during our stay. Cottage is spacious, well stocked with the basics, 3 beds and 3 bathsen suites so plenty for a family of 4 and 1 dog. Private parking is always helpful particularly for loading and unloading the car. The cottage is part of 3 cottages in the same building but is still very private. Its about 50yds from the main road through Ambleside but still really peaceful and quiet with some awesome views of 3-Bedroom Cottage Sleeping 5 with Log Burner in Ambleside from the main bedroom window. Would definitely recommend.

This is one of the best cottages we have stayed in. We loved all the period features, it was cosy, close to Ambleside, had great parking, and the beds were really comfortable. The lounge is packed with books and games to keep you busy and the conservatory is a beautiful place for breakfast or relaxing any time of year. The view of 3-Bedroom Cottage Sleeping 5 with Log Burner in Ambleside from here is gorgeous. The boot room was a particular favourite of ours meaning dirty boots, the bike and wet clothes could be aired out of the way of eating and relaxing. The fact that each bedroom had its own bathroom and shower was another bonus. This is a really beautiful, dog friendly period property, we couldn't fault it and we will definitely be back!

It is in an ideal position close to shops, restaurants, pubs and great for walks. The cottage has absolutely everything you could wish for. No complaints whatsoever. Great stay once again. Made our Christmas special. Lots of lovely memories. Thank you for the goodies. Boiler pressure went down so heating went off but very quick, efficient service from Sykes. Downstairs bathroom no hot water but water hot everywhere else in the house. Mentioned that when the maintenance team came. Just thought you might need to know. We thought the property was excellent. It's a great position & the owners provided everything that was required to enhance our stay. We were very lucky with the dry spell & although it was very cold, the heating in Gale Lodge was very good. The only issue we had was poor internet connection but that is a Lake District issue. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & will highly recommend Gale Lodge.

Love this cottage. Been back 3 times already and will be back again. Kids love their bedroom slightly away from everyone too. Great sun trap outside. Highly recommend.

On the web site it says main bedroom with bathroom and shower and then second bedroom it says double and on suite but it is actually down the hallway and it also doesnt state the other bedroom is off the conservatory! ! Other than that all was good

Excellent in every respect and the heating worked throughout unlike the last cottage we were in.
