Netherbeck Reviews

A huge warm and comfortable house, immaculately presented, with dedicated parking in the heart of Ambleside. Only let down by a very untidy and unkempt front patio, faulty stairwell light and a badly fitting toilet seat. if these points had been rectified I would have given Netherbeck 1010 now 910. Indeed, a great place to stay in Ambleside, recommended to our friends and on our list for a future visit.

Lovely spot , parking permit for outside a bonus. Kitchen very well equipped, just missing a frying pan as an addition if possible. Very clean and well presented. Great stay we loved it
Nicola
The property is in a great central location and has a lovely overall feel. However, we experienced a few issues during our stay. It was very cold when we arrived, and the front room stayed chilly throughout. Additional heaters were provided, which helped, but the bathroom radiators never warmed up in the mornings. The parking permit had expired, so we had to use a car park until a replacement arrived. Similar to previous guests, we noticed there was no soap in the bathrooms and no spare toilet roll, which would have been useful. Instruction manuals for the appliances would also be helpful. We found old food in a cupboard that needed to be thrown away and some rubbish left in the bedroom. Overall, the house itself is lovely, but the experience was disappointing compared to other properties weve stayed in.
Delightful. Cant really fault the accommodation at all. Stylish, clean, light, spacious exactly what we were looking for. We do have to echo other comments that the lack of basic handwash, washing up liquid and possibly shower toiletries seems weirdly at odds with everything else. It has been mentioned so many times when we read the reviews and really is an easily remedied own goal. Charge a few pounds more if you need to but it is like going to a five star hotel to find that you need to bring your own soap. It is surprisingly annoying and petty when the property is so nice. All that said, we loved it!
This cottage has everything required for a cosy and relaxing holiday. Great location for exploring the Lakes. Would stay again.
The property is of high standard and a very central location. It is a very tasteful house. You can tell the owner has left no expense spared on furnishings and fittings. My only complaint would be that they literally leave no basic essentials other than some bin bags, a small washing up liquid and 3 toilet rolls. Theres not even any hand wash in any bathrooms. Luckily I had read this in other reviews so took my own but clearly the owner isnt fussed that previous people are complaining of this. For the sake of a few pounds this would sort the problem.
Unfortunately due to personal matters and a severe storm, we were unable to travel to the accommodation. I contracted Sykes Cottages and spoke to Jess, who was extremely sympathetic and understanding. Jess made contact with the owner of the property to ascertain if we could move our booking to a later date. The owner agreed to this, the booking was put on hold and I was updated by Sykes Cottages to that effect. Extremely emphatic and professional approach all round. Thank you.
A great property in a fantastic location right in the centre of Ambleside
Larissa
This is a lovely property. Very clean, walking distance to shops and restaurants and great if you want to go somewhere with a larger group of people. Great location to explore the Lake District. A lot of space to sit together and lovely kitchen. One thing that would have been nice to have would be some kitchen basics such as coffee. We would stay here again and recommend it. Thank you for letting us stay in this beautiful cottage.

We had a lovely stay at Netherbeck last month. The kitchen and baths looked new, and all the rooms were welldecorated. It was a perfect location for visiting the town of Ambleside and for taking short hikes nearby. Our kids loved their rooms on the top floor. This home is very comfortable, and its functionality was as reliable as we had hoped. Thank you for sharing this with us and for allowing us to visit the Lake District!
Really great place to stay with a lovely kitchen dining space perfect for spending time with friends. It was was extremely clean and catered for all our needs. Located in the centre of Ambleside it was great for getting out into the fells and for soaking up the atmosphere of the town too.

Fantastic house we had a great time, plenty of room for all of us. We enjoyed the cinema room and the nespresso machine was a nice surprise. Lovely clean warm house, great showers and perfect location
We have just returned from Ambleside for a birthday celebration for my husband. 6 of us shared NETHERBECK, and we were all very comfortable and enjoyed our stay. The kitchen space is so accommodating, and easy to enjoy leasurely family meals. We were all so impressed on how centrally appointed the property is. Anyone wanting to stay in Ambleside would be very impressed with this property. Thankyou for the earlier check in too. Much appreciated after one party members 5 hour journey.
Pauline
A lovely property, well furnished and in a great location in Ambleside, very near the shops. The parking permit is invaluable as parking otherwise would be difficult. We woud definitely return. The only small issue would be the poor lighting on stairs, but that could easily be remedied.
Rosaleen
Beautiful cottage in an excellent location in the centre of Ambleside. Spotlessly clean throughout and equipped to a very high specification. The showers were great and the beds were extremely comfortable. The parking permit provided for one car was very greatly appreciated.
Everything excellent thank you. We had a really enjoyable stay and were impressed with the high standard of the accommodation. Would definitely recommend. Very central location. One small suggestion would be to provide a full length mirror in one of the bedrooms.
Netherbeck is a fantastic property. Great kitchen and dining spaces, very comfortable living room and cellar games room and the bedrooms are well appointed with comfy beds and matching oak wardrobes and drawers. A truly lovely place right in the centre of Ambleside amongst the shops, pubs and restaurants. Im sure well be back
The cottage was very well located in Ambleside. Very clean and roomy. We would have liked an information folder with wifi and other house details in it. We had a lovely stay!

Netherbeck has been thoughtfully refurbished. The modern kitchen diner provides a large space and is well equipped. All bathrooms are all of a high standard. The bedrooms are nicely furnished with comfortable beds and ample storage. Downstairs in the basement the TV room has a comfortable large sofa, ideal for four or five people to watch the television. An earlier review commented on the chilly living room. I agree, but would go further in commenting that we struggled with the central heating system in general, to the extent that Heart of the Lakes kindly provided us with a couple of electrical convector heaters to use in the front room and TV room. We also had difficulties with the door locks. As we later read in an owners response to a review, the inside knob needs to be pulled out to enable the door to be locked from the outside. This is not intuitive and it would have been helpful if there were instructions on the door. It would also have been helpful to have instructions to the kitchen appliances, in particular the oven and dishwasher.

Very convenient location right in the centre of town but on a quiet street with parking. Well decorated and spacious house. The livingdining kitchen is beautifully done and we spent most of our time there enjoying the space and furnishings and light. Bootutility room was very useful after winter walks. Downstairs snug very cosy for catching up on box sets after a day walking and a beer in one of the many good pubs and restaurants. Front room a bit chilly it was January though so didnt use as much, but great and huge sofa.

We were a party of 6 adults and had a fabulous stay at Netherbeck Plenty of room for us all to enjoy spending time together and less than a 5 minute walk to the Ambleside shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs As mentioned by someone else, we also struggled with the anti snap front door lock but didnt see any information about it in the cottage Possibly worth adding something in the key collection email Id definitely recommend staying her but, a basic supply of tea, coffee, sugar and milk plus two toilet rolls per toilet would have made it even better
We enjoyed a great stay at Netherbeck Cottage. It is ideally situated in Ambleside for going on walks visiting Restaurants, shops and pubs all within a 5 min walk. Excellent facilities and beautiful finishes especially in the kitchen.
Nicola
Beautifully presented, well equipped cottage. Beds were extremely comfortable and showers amazing. Fixtures and fittings were of top quality making for a luxurious stay away from home. I would definitely book to stay at Netherbeck again.
Charlotte
We had a lovely weekend at Netherbeck. Gorgeous house. Fab location. Didnt want to come home! Will definitely be back, Thank you
Oliver
Beautifully renovated terrace house with loads of space for a family of five. Clean, comfortable, loads of towels and well equipped with entertainment games and smart TVs. Kitchen could have been better equipped more crockery, large pans, large cutting knives for preparing food, vegetable peeler etc. No basic condiments except a pot of salt.
Amazing cottage. We had a great time staying there. Very clean and quiet
Beverley
A very beautiful property, modern, clean and comfortable. A very good position close to all amenities in Ambleside. Will definitely book this cottage again
Lovely place and very nicely fitted out and decorated. Had a bit of a struggle locking front door with key whenever we went out but otherwise a really nice property.
