Is Cloud Cottage Right For You?

Discover why this cottage is ideal for different types of visitors

For Families
Cloud Cottage provides a travel cot and highchair on request for families with young children. The spacious three-storey layout gives kids room to play safely indoors. Brockhole on Windermere offers outdoor activities just three miles away. Lakes Aquarium displays Britain's largest freshwater fish collection nine miles from the cottage. Stock Ghyll Force waterfall provides an easy family walk from the doorstep.
For Couples
This property works better for families and groups than couples seeking a romantic retreat. The three-bedroom layout and central town location suit larger parties rather than intimate getaways. Couples wanting peace and seclusion might prefer a smaller cottage in a more remote Lake District setting. However, the property does offer quiet accommodation despite its central position.
Pet Friendly
Cloud Cottage does not accept pets under any circumstances. The property operates a strict no-pets policy for all bookings. Dog owners will need to find alternative Lake District accommodation that welcomes animals. A Good Housekeeping bond of £100 applies to all stays at this property to maintain standards for future guests.

Cloud Cottage Reviews

Cloud cottage could be a nice place to stay if only they didn't have second rate furniture! a poor kingsized bed and toilet seats that moved when sat on! The cottage was clean, but had a funny smell in the kitchen, it was an ideal position for the town but parking would have been bad if the cleaner who was finishing off when we arrived hadn't moved his car for us to park on the street.
Christopher
Cloud Cottage is in a great location easy walking to cafes and restaurants. Very comfortable and spacious cottage with the benefit of parking on the street. We would definitely stay there again!
Alison
Lovely accommodation in a great location . All facilities as listed . I would book here again
We had a lovely week at Cloud Cottage. Parking on the road outside is limited, but there is a long stay public car park near by which is free after 8pm & offer discounted rates if you buy early bird tickets for the following 24 hours Lake Road Car Park. The cottage itself had all the things we needed for a family of 5, even a few games & DVDs to choose from. There isn't much cupboard space in the kitchen to store your own food items etc, but with a bit a shuffling about we managed to fit our things in. The cottage is well located with easy access to Ambleside & a good base from which to discover the rest of The Lakes. It's also perfectly located for a 5 min walk to Rothay Park parkrun! We would recommend staying here & would rebook if returning to Ambleside.
Generally found parts of the property tired and in comparison to other properties we have stayed in for a similar price not value for money. Parking is hit or miss. Ended up on one occasion having to park illegally, but only thanks to a very understanding parking warden didn't get a ticket. Large bathroom but not thought out. Really need to consider ventilation, where towels are placed. Generally the property wasn't clean as an example the bin was dirty and some of the pots utensils. Kitchen again not well thought out cupboards full of cups etc, very little space for own food, parts missing from cooker hood. No extras eg soap to wash hands, washing up liquid, very little toilet roll, no clothes washing pods. Welcome pack suspect the tea was leave over from previous people who stayed. Welcome pack very limited, no information on things to do, places to go. In short its not well loved.
Very nice cottage with good facilities, and a great location.
We can only agree with previous reviews lovely cottage, clean, spacious, comfortable, warm, well equipped and everything we needed for a great stay in Ambleside. It is tucked away in a quiet street but very central for shops, cafes etc and 5 minute walk to choice of many buses all over the lake district.
Kathleen
Lovely cottage clean, warm, spacious and an excellent central location. Would stay again and recommend.
The cottage is really spacious and perfect for a family of 4 it could fit more people in! . Really central to Ambleside but really quiet from any noise. Parking is a bit challenging but we were lucky to find a space straight away on our first day. A lovely stay!
