The property is ideally placed right at the edge of the village. Everything is within five or ten minutes walking distance. There is not much outside space for the dogs to go.. Perhaps lifting a flag and putting a small patch of grass down may help for late night, number ones.. The property was well stocked and the kitchen was well equipped. The beds were very comfortable. My only criticism is that on arrival, there was no hot water or heating. Luckily, we didn't miss it the first night. However, sykes cottages sorted it out the next day. It's a combi boiler. It's in the attic, and all it needed was a button pressing. Of note for future residents. We would definitely return as it is very handy.

Hi All, 6 adults, one 11 month baby and Hugo the dog. The property was a little dated but big enough to fit us all in comfortably.All of the beds were comfy, the property had everything you required for a great stay.Lovely welcome pack and milk in the fridge was a nice gesture. Perfectly placed to excess all that Ambleside has to offer. Parking at the bottom of the road in the car park with the permit was ideal.Would have no problem in returning for another stay and great value for the price.Thanks The Leonards

Spacious and comfortable, although central heating stopped working and no real fires working. Maintenance engineer fixed the heating, but could not give an approximate time of arrival, so that spoiled our day. Electric shower feeble... it might be time for a general face lift? My fifth visit and it didn't feel as loved as it used to.

We loved the position and space Springwell Cottage provided an old property with bags of character. We did, however, experience a lack of heating and hot water on Sunday, the day after our arrival. We had to wait until Monday for an engineer to fix the problem. The owner did contact me and followed up to check everything was working on Monday. However, there was no one we could contact on the Sunday regarding the heating and lack of hot water. Most guests check in at the weekend, so the lack of support during this period was disappointing. Luckily, we did not have very young or elderly guests staying with us. I have stayed many times in Ambleside with no problems at all. This was the first time booking this property, and overall the experience was affected by these issues.

Cottage is central to the town and spacious. The downsides are there is a tiny outside paved space which is not ideal with a dog. That space is bordered by other buildings and gets no sunlight. The house itself lacks much natural light downstairs and with the dark decor it felt gloomy especially as the weather was fabulous.

We loved our stay here. The house is extremely comfortable and everything just works! We really had everything we needed. We didnt bring a car and being located in this house and in Ambleside was perfect. We did walks from here or caught the bus. Caution if you are tall though, there are lots of low ceilings Strong recommend!!

We had a lovely week, blessed with gorgeous weather. The cottage was very comfortable and we had no issues.

We chose the cottage for its location, two bathrooms having our 91 year old mother with us and two dogs. It feels like a very much loved family home. It is spacious, cosy, very dog friendly and the parking permit made life a lot easier. The kitchen was very well equipped, although more large forks were needed and only two slots in the toaster worked properly. One of the strip lights was flashing when we arrived and although we tried two new starters, unfortunately it didn't cure the problem, so we just left it out. None of these small issues, however, spoilt our holiday and along with some great weather, we had a very enjoyable stay.

The property was perfect to meet our needs for the week. The dogs were well provided for with lots of bowls. If I am being picky the shower hose could do with tightening to improve flow. It was our second stay which says a lot!

We had a lovely stay at Springwell Cottage. Loved Location minutes walk from the heart of Ambleside Size a rabbit warren of rooms! Including two lounges, and two washrooms, and a good sized kitchen and dining space. Value great price for the location and size Super dog friendly Well equipped, has everything you need and more! Comfortable beds and pillows To note Theres no parking, so you have to park in nearby public car park. Its across a busy road, and spaces can be limited, but theres a free parking pass in the house. Lots of low ceilings and beams common to Lakeland houses. Not great for those taller people. The hot water runs hot and cold when showering, and couldnt take a hot bath. Opposite a pub, so some low level noise when people come and go. Not too bad but could be an issue for reactive dogs. For the price, you wont get much better and recommended. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Best equipped cottage in Ambleside thus far. Welcome pack a lovely touch also. Plenty of space for us all and pub across the way handy ! Btw no noise from this at all , even though so close. Definitely recommend so convenient also for all village amenities .

The cottage was in a great location. Very spacious and had everything you may need and more welcome hamper on arrival, plenty of items like bin bags, washing up liquid, cleaning materials etc. Close to all amenities we parked in the nearby car park and made full use of the complimentary permit and took buses during our stay. The only slight downside was the lighting on the staircase between the kitchen and the first lounge we had to leave the light on at all times. There is a warning sign but it wasnt visible in the dark. Once we got used to the layout of the cottage it was fine. The subtle signs on all the cupboards were very helpful too. Would definitely visit again. Thank you.

Very interesting cottage. Spacious but cozy at same time. Some low beams and doorways as you would expect and some labelled with warnings. Overall liked it very much. Kitchen well equipped but oven trays could do with an upgrade and no bread knife?. Not a dog owner myself, but if you are there is a dog basket and other accessories you might need such as water bowls etc. Handy location with shops a couple of minutes away. Pub opposite nice and no excess noise to worry about either in our experience. Would stay again

We have stayed here before and loved it but this visit was horrendous. We were left feeling very stressed and upset. Building works were ongoing all week to the rear of the property, with the whole access road being dug up terrible noise, dirt and zero access from 8am. Our elderly dog couldnt get upstairs to use the other door and so was a prisoner all week and that door is straight onto a busy road with no pavement, so not really safe for our 3 children. Also, water running down the twin bedroom wall, by beds. Multiple calls, messages etc to Sykes. Photosvideos sent daily of both issues. No help at all, no response, no offer of any compensation. Works had been notified to owner prior to our visit we found the letter. We shouldve been told and would have cancelled. Just left so upset and disappointed really happy to get home.

What a lovely quirky home and so convenient for centre of town. Normally we choose accommodation with parking on site but with car park so near this was not a problem for us. Very pleasant place to stay as long as you watch for the low beams. Facilities could not be better and wine left for guests was a nice touch. We will certainly return here.

Lovely clean cottage , the weather wasnt great but being so close to the best pub in Ambleside was a bonus . The open fire was great , just what we needed after a day out .

Beautiful cottage in the lake district, TICK. Facilities to suit people staying at the cottage, TICK. Dog friendly, TICK. Unfortunately, there the positives end, very dirty, I fully appreciate that it is a dog friendly facility, however the dust OMG on top of the wardrobe having placed my bags there, dog hair from numerous types of K9 throughout took the shine of this ideally located facility. The dust and dog hair forced me to make an emergency visit to the chemist in the town for an inhaler. I have two dogs of my own, I haven't used an inhaler in years. I'd suggest a temporary closure of this facility for a robust 'deep clean' and the replacement of several mats and rugs. It's a shame, this was part of my honeymoon, slightly tarnished.

Lovely and comfortable cottage in a stones throw distance of all the hustle and bustle of Ambleside. Everything we needed was provided for and the bed was very comfortable. Our dogs were made to feel very welcome with beds provided etc. The best pub in Ambleside is just opposite the cottage, although I couldn't understand why the description says 3 mins away when it's more like 3 seconds ! The Golden Rule is the friendliest pub we've been to in a long time. A good local butcher, baker and deli are just around the corner and great to support local businesses on our doorstep. The WiFi was very hit and miss and constantly dropping but we managed. Would definitely recommend to anyone..

The cottage overall was lovely and spotless clean with lots of facilities for a self catering stay. Was also well set up for doggy friends. Its close to the town and all its amenities and literally 25 feet door to door of what is arguably the finest pub in the lakes if not England The Golden Rule. No faff no gimmicks just an old fashioned pub. Returning to the cottage, the TV was complicated to use and the courtyard was smaller than expected. Its not really suited for elderly or less able guests as both bathrooms are upstairs round a narrow bending staircase though their are lots hand supports. The settees werent the most comfortable due to a lack of seat depth and we feel the small lounge could be better used as a downstairs WCshower room or small bedroom with ensuite due to all the other living space. Massive kitchen and separate massive dining area and the 3 bedrooms are also extremely spacious.

We returned to this cottage for the third time. We really love the location as its very central to Ambleside. A lovely pub directly opposite. Its a spacious cottage with comfortable beds. It is very well equipped including washing machine and tumble drier and a very well equipped kitchen. The tea and coffee facilities on the landing area is a nice touch, as is the complimentary wine and the various condiments etc available in the kitchen. The dining area could do with some cosier lamps and lighting, and the reed diffusers and air fresheners need replenishing as the cottage smells in some areas, probably due to the age of it.

Property is as described yes there is no parking or large outdoor space but that is explained accurately in advertisement. The accommodation is ideally situated comfortable, clean and very well equipped compared to most places I have stayed. The downstairs living and eating areas are ideal for larger gatherings to socialise and eat. Upstairs bedrooms are very comfortable there is limited room in one of the bathrooms but thats fine this is a listed building and not open to extensions internal renovations I would not hesitate to recommend as the pros far outweigh the cons
