The Coach House Reviews

Jennie
Our first time staying at The Coach House and what a wonderful stay we had in this beautuful cottage. The cottage is perfectly sized for 2 people, it's very confortable and cosy. The cottage is cleaned and maintained to a very high standard.. The kitchen is very well equipped. Usually when we go self catering I pack a box of things from my own kitchen, no need here.. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need. The cottage is in an ideal location minutes away from the centre of Ambleside.. We had a great week and will definitely return to The Coach House.
A perfectly located , beautifully decorated and furnished cottage for a relaxing ... A perfectly located , beautifully decorated and furnished cottage for a relaxing holiday the kitchen is very well equipped for home cooking a place to visit over again many thanks
Absolutely loved staying in the Coach House. Felt spacious and luxurious at the same time as being warm and cosy. Super comfy bed, incredibly well equipped kitchen, only used the car once in a week because theres so much to do on the doorstep. Additional great featurebeing able to walk into the garage after a walk to leave muddy and wet things there to drive. Such a useful space during a soggy week in the lakes!
Sharon
We have been returning to the Coach House for several years now and it feels like a second home. Always clean, warm and comfortable, you feel relaxed as soon as you arrive. The garage is perfect to just park your car and leave it using the local bus service to travel around.
Christopher
Immaculate and beautifully furnished cottage in a very convenient and quiet location. Lacks the personal touches that make many of Sykes cottages such a delight no welcome pack, no welcome message, no book of the house.
Jeffrey
We have been visiting the Coach House for many years and we both love it. But unfortunately this time a steel bar at the top of the garage door fell off and hit me in the face, plus also the fan in the bathroom is faulty and very noisy. We have reported both these to Sykes cottages. We have already booked for next year as we love the place. Jeff and Susan
Fantastic location, clean and comfortable. Great to have off road parking. We would definitely return to the Coach House when holidaying in this area again, The only issue is lack of a general information pack eg WiFi code etc and no outside refuse bin only a green one full of garden waste. Otherwise a great place to stay.
Clayton
Lovely place to stay. Very clean, comfortable and tidy and had everything you could need. Ideal location only a short walk to the lake or shops bars and restaurants. Numerous more strenuous walks straight from the doorstep.
Really well equipped cosy cottage, with ample parking space, and bonus of having integral garage to take off wet gear and store muddy boots. Only negative comment, would be useful to have stool in bedroom for wife to sit on whilst putting on make up and doing hair in front of mirror, otherwise perfect.
Christopher
Great property, very clean and well presented and felt comfortable from when we arrived. Very convenient for walks from the area and local restaurants. Great benefit having off road parking too. We had a great stay and will look to return.
Its a very nice property in a convenient location. We found it quiet, comfortable and perfect for our stay. The kitchen is very well equipped for people who want to cook. Totally agree with other reviews saying lack of basics like toilet roll are a minor frustration. We feel these are reasonable expectations at the price point.
Alison
Fantastic location, walkable from central Ambleside while very private. Our arrival was a bit if an anti climax had to crank the heating up so I was grateful for the glass of Bristol Cream, which warmed me. Not least as there wasnt even a couple of tea bags and a drop of milk for a brew after a long drive. Unless we couldnt find them and we did hunt. One toilet roll for a threeday stay isnt adequate. It is one of the cleanest properties we have stayed in with plentiful hot water for a bath after walking, and adequate wardrobe and storage space. The kitchen is well equipped too. Its unfortunate a roof window blind has been torn and needs replacing, as I was woken by the light each morning. We love Ambleside and enjoyed our stay. Its unfortunate the Easter week prices left a bitter taste 333 per night raised our expectations such that the aforementioned issues, and tiny bath towels detracted from what may have been a more glowing review if 200 per night. At this price, Id have preferred a room at a 5 hotel. There was a booklet of info tucked in a draw and if thered been the usual welcome note and contact details, we would happily have shared this with the owners to discuss, rather than in a public forum.
Valerie
Lovely cottage, very well placed in Ambleside and way to access. Very well equipped and ideal for 2.
Very nice please great location off road parking. Minor point light display on fire not working
Jackie
Lovely location, nice short walk into Ambleside. The coach House was so comfortable and exceptionally clean with everything you need for your stay. We would definitely make a return visit.
Sharon
We love visiting this property and have been doing so for several years. An extremely comfortable property in an ideal situation and being able to park car in garage an added bonus. All amenities are within easy walking distance and we make use of the local bus service.
I've been holidaying in the Lake District for the last twenty years. I can honestly say The Coach House is the best property we have stayed in. After being out on the fells for the day. It was wonderful just to come back to a modern, clean wonderful accommodation with off street parking. Within a short walk lots of places to eat & drink, or you have all the cooking facilities to cook meal at the accommodation. Go on, treat yourself you won't be disappointed..... We wasn't!
Hi, loved staying here would be back however as we had torrential rain for most of the week could've done with a squidgy mop for the kitchen floor when wet. Also only one posh spare toilet roll the other left only had 2 sheets on the holder.
This was our fifth visit to this outstanding property, quiet yet easy access to the amenities of Ambleside. We hope to be back soon ! Only disappointment was the wifi failed after the first day but that is thro' no fault of the owners.
Michael David
A lovely cottage, very well equipped, well furnished, and spotlessly clean. It is in a very quiet lane, close to the town centre. The garage is useful for drying wet weather gear, and for storing boots etc.. An information folder, including wifi password, would be useful.
Michael Charles
The property was perfect for us. Within a short walk of town centre, and a short walk the other way to the lake. Very comfy and roomy, with a good size kitchen, and parking directly outside. Would be happy to stay there again.
Christopher
Immaculate and beautifully decorated and equipped. Perfect quiet location around 10 minutes walk to the lake or, in the other direction, the town centre. Private offstreet parking adjacent to the Coach House is a huge benefit in a busy town. The Coach House is very expensive, we paid the same price for a 10 bed Yorkshire farmhouse a few weeks ago. Every other holiday rental that weve been to has had a reasonably comprehensive set of instructions on heating, internet, bin schedules, recycling etc. No such information at The Coach House a perfunctory sheet of phone numbers, a drawer full of equipment instructions and youre left to your own devices. I had to climb up on a chair in the kitchen to find the router code on the back of the internet router on the top of the kitchen cupboard, eventually found a laminated sheet about bins in the garage and, after scouring the property for a heating timer, had to read the boiler operating instruction book the owner or agents could and should do a much better job on this imo.
This was our second stay at The Coach House. We originally booked it because of the location we love staying in Ambleside and this cottage is close to all the shops and restaurants while also being on a very quiet road. We returned to it this year because of the cottage itself it's very comfortable and the layout inside is lovely. We definitely intend to return in the future.
Sharon
Have been to the Coach House for several years now as we love it so much. Warm and comfortable in an excellent location quiet but close to all that Ambleside has to offer.
The Coach House was the perfect holiday stay ideal location for enjoying everything on offer in Ambleside, so many great walks from the front door! Really luxury accommodation so beautifully furnished throughout, with a fantastically well equipped kitchen. I Cannot recommend the Coach House highly enough will definitely be returning in the future!
Jeffrey
Another fantastic week at The Coach House. Weather was superb. We have been here many times. It now feels like a second home to us. BIG THANKS.
Christopher
The Coach House was excellent. Great location and peaceful. Definitely would book again.
Fabulous cottage in great location. 5 mins walk into Ambleside. Very well maintained property with everything we needed. Hope to revisit sometime soon.
Jeffrey
Another lovely stay at the Coach House. We appreciate all the new paint work that had been done since our last stay. We hope to be back again next year. THANK YOU .
The Coach House is lovely and very comfortable. It is in an ideal spot between the town and the Lake. We enjoyed our holiday very much, thank you.
Andrew
I found the cottage acceptable and plenty of car parking space . There were 2 things I would change are , the furniture is a bit dated and requires attention , also the skylight windows require black blinds , because as soon as morning light comes up the whole room is lit up , and for light sleeper like me gets woke up very early a.m. very annoying . Andrew Ra
This was our second stay at The Coach House in Ambleside. The property is very comfortable and is less than a 10 minute walk of Ambleside centre.
Sharon
Another lovely holiday at the Coach House. everything just right so you can relax and enjoy from the very first day!
Richard
This is the ninth holiday we have spent at the Coach House. As usual it fulfilled our expectations a beautifully presented and very comfortable cottage. We love arriving to the welcome of a glass of Sherry. It just kicks off the holiday mood on the right note. Let me stress we have no complaints but there were a couple of small things to draw to your attention for the future comfort of guests 1 The blind over the sink only lowers half way 2 The sink in the bathroom empties really slowly 3 The valance the material round the base of the bed needs a clean We have already booked for next September and were looking forward to another great visit.
Edward
The price for future stays has gone up a lot
This is the 16th time we have used Heart of the Lakes, the last 7 has been to this cottage. It was always an enjoyable holiday, however due to your new pricing structure for 2022, which indicates a 26 increase for the same week, it is highly unlikely we will be returning. So we are disappointed not to be returning. As you will see from our previous complementary comments which you have printed we have been satisfied clients.
Jeffrey
We have been here many times we will be back again in September the only thing we where not happy as there was no CD player or hifi unit as advertised on your web site,as we like to play some music in the evenings . It is a lovely place to be in the Lake District
I have rented this cottage about 67 times and I have also booked for a future date. It provides the comfort, facilities including private parking and is very convenient to the local facilities. Given that it was our first visit since lockdown ended we went in trepidation about the cleanlinesspreparations, these were unfounded, the cottage was cleaned and prepared to a high standard, looking forward to our next visit in June.
