Jenever Cottage Reviews

Jonathan
We really enjoyed our time at Jenever, the property itself had a really positive modern feel but with the character of the lakes and all it has to offer. Inside we found the decor, rooms and facilities to a very high standard, the location is ideal despite the uphill walk to keep you fit with a 10 minute walk to the town centre. It was particularly enjoyable to open the window or patio door and listen to the stream and people ambling past in a morning with a lovely view across the woods One element that I have shared is about the bathroom, the power of the shower is a great plus, however unfortunately due to the design it means the water leaks out onto the flooring area very quicky & we required additional towels to stew the tide & ensure the tiles do not get ruined. This may be something that can be easily fixed
Loved the property and accomodation. two small issues there was only soap in one of the bathrooms, which was quite irritating. buying an extra bottle of hand soap would be really appreciated secondly, we did request the second bedroom with the zip and lock bed be configured as a king size. I didn't realise this was an option until too late to request through the website, but I did reply to the email lakelovers sent asking which configuration we'd like, within 30 minutes. therefore it was a bit disappointing that it was configured incorrectly, as two twin beds. ultimately this didn't effect our stay but was a bit of a shame.

Lovely modern cottage for our family of 4 to stay in. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived. All the information was provided in advance and the info pack at the cottage was really helpful. Location is lovely and quiet but close to town.
Jenever Cottage is one of the nicest UK stays we've had. Brilliantly located in Ambleside with quick access to the town and walks from the door. The accommodation was as described and just what we look for when on holiday. The only faults come from Sykes there was no high chair in the property on check in, as promised. But this was promptly rectified. I also feel after staying in many Airbnbs all over the world Sykes should move with the times and provide a supply of basic products cooking oil, shampoo, soaps etc in the property on a use and replace basis especially since we found you via Airbnb!. I realise this is a self catering property but these provisions are what we've very much had as standard in so many stays.
Really beautiful apartment not far from the centre of Ambleside, appreciated that it had two toilets especially for the four of us. Powerful shower, highly appreciated by our teenager. Large open plan kitchen and living area was ideal for us as a family. Agree with previous comments about lack of curtains in living area and privacy. Top floor, a few creaky floor boards that seem really noisy in the middle of the night whilst going to the bathroom! A new clothes horse is required as current one is broken when we attempted to use it after a wet day. Heating is very warm which is lovely too, although no air con so we were melting at night as didnt want to open windows due to the noise of the river outside. White wall on staircase needs a lick of paint its white and has already got a lot of scuff marks which is a shame. Overall we would come back for the high quality finish and decent location. Shame there was no welcome hamper of milk, bread, eggs, butter, wine, biscuits etc, but thats not a deal breaker.
When we arrived there was a slight issue and I had to call Sykes. I can't express how impressed I was with the service thank you Gabrielle and the issue was sorted within the hour! The apartment itself is stunning. Every detail has been thought through and the decor is gorgeous, so stylish. It's also spacious and the bonus of a balcony is fabulous. There are so many walks from the location and it's proximity to Amblesides pubs and restaurants is perfect. We have stayed in a few apartments within the Falls complex but will definitely rebook Jenever. Many thanks.

Very nice modernised property, with off road parking. Shame heating could only be controlled by turning boiler on or off. Curtains at living room window would have been nice as there is a public footpath to Falls opposite. Felt a bit exposed. Minor points no 1pint glasses or teapot and couldnt find instructions for hob! Shame as otherwise accommodation excellent.
Lesley
Lovely comfortable and cosy property. Had requested twice for second bedroom to be a double this did not happen I see this has been an issue before The holiday folder said to enjoy the welcome pack not provided. Only small suggestions to have blind or curtains in living room as felt quite exposed at night and another couple of occasional lights in lounge
We asked via e mail and telephone for the twin bed to be made up as one. This didnt happen. This is my only little gripe. The house is perfect. Beautiful decor and furniture. Well equipped kitchen with everything you need. Spotlessly clean. Lovely beds, great pillows. Modern wet room. White fluffy towels. Toasty hot heating system , ambulance of hot water.Beautiful views. Quiet. You can walk into Ambleside. Owners have left lots of information on walks. It was idyllic. We so enjoyed, thank you so much for sharing this beautiful property with us. May I just suggest an outdoor light as you enter porch, it was very dark when we arrived. Instructions on use of heating. Clarity as to which garage belongs to Jenever cottage. I hope you will take these comments as recommendations and are in no way complaints. We didnt want to leave!
We were a family group of 4 2 adults and 2 adult children. Sadly there was not enough sofa space for us to all sit comfortably together in the evening. Why not have more sofa space or a corner sofa instead of a chess set and table when there are not enough seats. I love The Falls, and stayed in many places there I love it, but without sufficient sofa space I would not return to Jenever. The listing was accurate, so I am not complaining just giving feedback on why I would not return.
We had a lovely stay and the cottage was well appointed and perfect for our needs. Great location as well with an easy walk into town and back. Will certainly look to return again in the future.
Beautiful apartment. Very tastefully furnished with such attention to detail. The setting is perfect. We loved sitting on the balcony watching the birds flitting across the falls. Thank you
