Silver How Reviews

Antony
On the whole a satisfactory rental. Very warm. Excellent shower in the bathroom but the ensuite shower needs modernisation. The mixer bath tap in the bathroom is loose and will cause a major leak if not fixed soon. Many light bulbs need replacement. The lighting in the ensuite bathroom is pathetic. Several saucepans needed cleaning before use. Disappointed not to have a welcome pack. Nonetheless we had a very pleasant stay.
Superb cottage warm even in cold and wet December great heating, comfortable sofas and beds, and lovely furnishings. Very quiet and peaceful, good outdoor space parking, and best of all we watched deer in garden every morning. Exceptionally clean, with a good kitchen. Much more spacious than it appears in the photos. Overall, excellent and we would definitely return.
We enjoyed our stay at Silver How it was very spacious, comfy and had nearly everything we needed. It was well located for Ambleside and Waterhead, whilst being quiet and private. You do have to bring your own dishcloths, washing up liquid, dishwasher tabs, hand soap, tea towels and oven gloves. Whilst most places weve stayed in suggest this is a possibility, they usually provide something to get you started so we thought this was a bit stingy. The information about what to do with rubbish, recycling etc. was out of date there was an info pack from when it was listed with another company and was specific to their procedures so I had to ring for more info. Some of the lightbulbs had gone and need replacing and theres evidence of a leak from the ceiling onto the wall on the landing. There were also no keys for the windows specifically, the one in the twin room above a window seat could be opened fully which is not reassuring when you have children, so it would have been good to have some kind safety mechanism on there.
A beautiful cottage. Spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Added bonus of car parking spaces. Ideally located for exploring Ambleside and surrounding areas. We will definitely book this cottage again.

We had a lovely stay in early February. The weather was very kind to us cold but rarely any rain. We couldnt have asked for more at the cottage, it was cosy and clean and had everything we needed and more. Would recommend the cottage to everyone, plenty of walks and places to visit and the scenery around the cottage lovely with visits from deer and pheasants to watch.

This was a long awaited trip from last December where snow hindered travel. Was worried first as there was scaffolding up and thought that there may have been work taking place, but there no workmen, and no noise, the place was so peaceful. As the property is off the main road, down a short lane, there's no traffic noise or people passing. The property had everything we needed. Ideal setting being just a 10 minute walk from Waterhead to get the boat to Bo'ness and a 10 minute walk into Ambleside. Loved the place. Would definitely recommend and definitely will be back.

Silver How was a perfect base for us in Ambleside. The house was first class clean, warm, comfortable, quiet and a short walk into Ambleside or Waterhead. We would definitely stay again.
No problems.
Silver How is the best property we have rented in the lakes so far, delightful location, very well maintained, my wife complained about a broken tea pot and clothes airer this was dealt with immediately and a follow up call received within 48 hours so we have nothing but praise both for Lakelovers and the property. Excellent all round.
Another excellent stay at Silver How. Amazing setting looking onto a beautiful meadow waking up to a chorus of birdsong and deer roaming across. The cottage has everything you need to make it a home from home..Great location 10 mins walk to town centre but tucked away to make it a peaceful retreat.
Perfect location, beautiful cottage with wildlife on your doorstep. Lovely and peaceful for a relaxing holiday. Would be nice if there was a dryer, and timer on microwave needs attention.
Andrew
A brilliant base for a Lakes holiday. Very comfortable, well equipped and clean. The location is perfect, just outside the main town, but within very easy walking distance. Plus plenty of options for walking from the doorstep. Having parking was a great bonus. We would definitely stay here again! Highly recommend.
Thank you for a lovely comfortable stay The cottage was clean , well equipped and cosy on those cool days Lovely views. A bonus to see the deer in the garden We had a lovely Christmas stay the only suggestion would be with booking over Christmas it would have been nice to see some festive decorations. Especially when Xmas week is more expensive than off peak. But this wouldnt reflect our overall view of the cottage and we would definitely return . We would highly recommend so go ahead and book !!
We have been staying in Lakes cottages for over 25 years and this has to be in the top 3. .A well equipped kitchen, extremely comfortable and spacious, brilliant location with stunning views front and back. Privileged to have deer gracing our company just outside. Can't recommend this cottage more highly. We will be booking again for the Spring very shortly.
The location of the property was great, however some mirrors at the end of the driveway would be of great assistance. You are partway into the road before being able to fully confirm your exit is clear. General provision in the cottage was great however some equipment teapot, glasses and furnishings floor lamp in lounge lampshade are in poor repair. Plentiful crockery, cutlery and cookware was great. Nightlights upstairs and downstairs were a welcome addition particularly for the kids. Soft furnishingsthrows were lovely and made cottage VERY cosy! Another point which you may need to address with council, we put bin out as advised on the Thursday, it wasn't emptied. Bin wagon did come up the driveway but totally missed for no3.
