Absolutely brilliant place to stay in ambleside. Pictures on the advert are true to the experience. Comfortable beds and spacious bathroom. The TV has the capability for you to log into netflix, disney plus ect which is fab for chilling on a night time. The walk up from the town centre is about a 5 minute walk so nice and short but a bit steep in places incase people haven't been before. The accommodation was clean and tidy on arrival. A thoughtful cleaning kit with sponge, wipe and dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid provided. Pleanty of plates, culterly and the essentials needed to cook meals etc. However, some of the platescutlery weren't clean but were easily hand washed. The only thing I would say that needs updating is the dishwasher...we used this once as it didn't clean anything properly and it wasn't in the greatest condition very wobbly and rickety. So I would recommend washing everything by hand as it was a waste of time putting stuff into the dishwasher. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this property to others.

Property was nice and clean. Comfy beds, although pillows were lumpy and needed changing, that was done a couple of days into our stay. The lampshade in twin room could do with replacing. No storage for small items in double room. A storage rack or extra hangers would have helped. Bathroom was fine except for mirror light didn't work. Central heating was good. Living room nice and spacious. Comfortable sofa. Nice size TV. Kitchen, unfortunately the biggest let down. Washing machine, paddles kept coming away from drum exposing sharp edges. Believe this was mentioned in previous review so was surprised it hadn't been replaced or repaired. Dishwasher was missing several wheels on the rack so it kept coming off the runners. Managed to retrieve one when I checked at the bottom only to see that the filter is pretty much perished. The whole unit moves and appears very dated. Tumble dryer was replaced during our stay so hopefully this might indicate that the other appliances are going to be updated soon. Cooking was fine, but hob took forever to heat up making cooking very frustrating. A new set of knives or a sharpener. There wasn't one that would cut anything! Lovely location, good parking space. Would we go again, only if appliances were replaced. You go away to relax, not to wash your clothes and dishes by hand. Hope this review helps.

The apartment was nice and comfortable. Nice selection of DVD's. Pity the DVD player was not connected and didn't work.
Excellent location, close to the centre of Ambleside. No need to use the car. Comfortable beds Comfortable sofa Everything you could need for a short break Minor complaint, dust in bedroom hanging from ceiling and unclean plates in kitchen cupboard.
Rebecca
E really enjoyed our stay, the apartment was lovely and beautifully furnished. The parking space was a great asset. The only downside was that no cleaning products were provided. There was only one toilet roll and a tea towel. Only a tiny cleaning pack with 3 dishwasher tablets. We regularly stay in self catering accommodations and usually the basics are left for guests. So we couldn't really clean anything, luckily I take an emergency box of things and for the first time we used everything. If guests were to come from overseas then they would have to shop for everything. It would be good if some basics were left for guests if needed. We would stay in the property again but would remember to bring more with us.
The property was very comfortable, clean and well equipped. Good furnishings, excellent beds, a real home from home. Good location. Good to have allocated parking. Marked it down a point as management by owner was disappointing. First time ever, and we self cater a lot, the welcome pack consisted of cleaning products and not a pint of milk, a welcome biscuit or edible product. Always a nice touch, even though we are self catering. No Fairy liquid or soaps. Manual very poor. No instructions what to do with rubbish, a fellow resident explained bin store to me. Heavy rain one day, chose a couple of DVDs lovely collection but DVD player not working. Contacted owner on number given. No reply.
Stella
Great apartment for 2 people, tricky for 4 people with only one bathroom. Great for walking into town and good walking in the area. Would definitely go again.
Stuart
Excellent accommodation. Recommend
Delightful property with all amenities close by perfectly clean accommodation warm and well equipped .
Spacious well equipped apartment in quiet location just a 10min walk into town. Private parking is a bonus. Bathroom smelt bit foisty, quite mouldy round shower screen and few cobwebs with spiders in residence. Rest of the apartment was clean though.

As with most properties would benefit from blackout curtains. Very bright in the bedroom from early in the morning. Comfortable apartment. Would stay again.
The property was warm, clean and comfortable. It had a spacious feel in the living room and kitchen. The bedrooms were smaller but perfectly adequate and the kingsize bed was superbly comfortable. The downside was a lack of cleaning materials. We like to clean the bathshower after use for the next person so we had to buy cloths and cleaner. The small box of kitchen cleaning materials contained a 30ml bottle of dish cleaner and 3 dishwasher tablets. We don't use a dishwasher so had to buy dishwash liquid. If we did use the dishwasher the 3 tabs provided wouldn't do a week. There was no welcome pack but thankfully, after a long drive, we had brought milk, tea, coffee etc just incase. The info file didn't make what to do with bins or laundry clear. Sadly, due to constant rain and getting repeatedly soaked, we packed up and came home on the Thursday. Nobody can organise the weather and we knew that the Lake District can be wet so we half expected it.
This was the first Sykes booking where we found no Information booklet within the property. We had no information on any appliances, what to do with rubbish disposal nor used bedding and towels There was minimal soap provision in the kitchen and none in the bathroom. There was no central heating control and the shower on switch appeared to be inoperable. There was no advance notification of where the locztikn of the parking space nor the front door and no cear signage direction at the location.
I ordered a cot a couple of months ago and had the email to say it had been ordered. Arrived at the cottage and no cot was there. No phone signal to phone the numbers for the caretakers, in the lakes so I understand the no phone signal. Really poor from Sykes, impossible to contact anyone. FAQs are very limited. No phone number to get hold of anyone from Sykes Will not use Sykes again.
Had a lovely week at Over Ghyll. The flat is well equipped with everything you need. The only thing that needs attention is the light in the small vestibule entrance which was broken and made getting the key in the door difficult.

Over guhll did exactly what it said on the tin a wonderful apartment in a wonderful setting li a great position to visit all the attractions the lakes have to offer. One drawback I the steep climb from Ambleside to the apartment not for the handicap or faint hearted
Really clean with everything we needed for a great stay in the Lakes. Thank you.
On arrival at Over Ghyll, we were greeted by a cosy apartment. Beds were lovely and comfortable, and bedrooms had suitable storage space. Lounge was clean and cosy, comfortable sofa. Bathroom was clean. Nice little sensor night light in the hallway, good if anyone needs to get up in the night. There was not much in the information folder, and no instructions on what to do with the beddingtowels when leaving. The kitchen is where I had some issues. As others have stated, there is not much in the way of cupboard space. This is because the cupboards are taken up with 3 or 4 different sets of bowls plates side plates one bowl had been put back in the cupboard used and unwashed, quite a few mugs, and I counted 33 various drinking glasses.... in an apartment for 4 people. I had to move some bits around so I could put my shopping away. And the biggest annoyance for us was that the washing machine was unusable. The plastic paddles in the drum were missing, leaving several inch long holes in the drum, which would have just ripped clothing to shreds. It wouldn't have been a problem if we'd not packed light due to us thinking we had a usable washing machine so had to hand wash every night and let the washing drip dry on the airer in the bath.

Property was comfortable and as always we have had a great holiday in Ambleside. Have stayed at several properties in the Falls. A few aspects of the flat were disappointing. No cleaning supplies. Had to buy soap one half liquid soap in bathroom, washing up liquid, dishcloth , dishwasher tablets, clingfilm, salt and pepper , toilet rolls only one supplied. The property we stayed in the previous week in Keswick had all these supplied and more. Sykes property. There was also a lack of storage in the flat. Had to juggle things in kitchen to store any of our food. Only 1 small drawer in bedside cabinets in main bedroom so had to leave clothes in suitcase on floor of wardrobe. A small 3 drawer bedside cabinet from IKEA would give a bit of storage. Otherwise the flat was clean and very comfortable. Such a range of what properties supply.
Claire
A lovely apartment next to amazing woodland and the lovely sounds of the waterfall. A gradual hill down into ambleside but close to amenities. The apartment was so comfy the settee and very comfy bed were most welcome after a day exploring. The only issues we really had were In the kitchen no kitchen scissors or measuring jug and one of the baking trays Dosnt fit in the oven. Also some of the pots had been left dirty eg mugs on mug tree and a really dirty wok. Other than that excellent stay.
We love the location of the property and have stayed in another property on the Falls development in the past. Really handy to be close to amenities in Ambleside with young children and some great walks from your door. Sadly this property just wasn't kitted out particularly well and really let it down There were no hooks to hang coats. No where to leave muddy boots yet you're asked not to bring them inside the next door property had a mat and basket available to them. Oven gloves has holes in both hands. No measuring jug, kitchen scales, kitchen scissors, and the biggest oven tray didn't fit the oven. Massive wardrobes but no drawers so lived out of suitcases. A few cleanliness issues also bathroom fan covered in dust. a few mugs not clean. cafetire still had remaining coffee grinds in. dried coffee stain on kitchen floor. Sofa and beds were nice and comfortable.
The apartment was really nice ,the big thing that let it down was the cleaning ... The apartment was really nice ,the big thing that let it down was the cleaning we phoned cottages of the lakes who sent cleaner back twice after that we made an official complaint,we have several photos we can email you kitchen works greasy crumbs everywhere food left on chopping board greasy rusty baking trays 2 off left in oven unusable which they did change ,dusty cooker hood water left in microwave bathroom soap tray thick with soap dust and hairs in the bath toilet brush covered in fortitude would like to continue this
Warm and cosy apartment. Very comfortable bed. Well equipped kitchen. Good location with easy parking.

Stayed in this same flat 15 years ago for a hiking holiday and absolutely loved it, we just hoped it would have been a bit sooner when we returned. Lovely and well appointed with all kitchen requirements for cooking. Very cosy, lovely views of the ghyll from the lounge window. Ideal strolling distance into Ambleside with walks into the hills straight out of the door. Noticed a few light bulbs missingnot working, and the cookerhob might be on a goslow, but nothing to spoil the stay, we will definitely be backjust hope its not another 15 years!
Catherine
The cottage was great and in a great location for the town. My only comment is could you make the carparking numbers more obvious and put a sign in to say parking only for that flat. We got there and someone had parked in our spot as they hadn't seen the number. This was made worse by someone parking in their spot as the couldnt find theirs.
We had a brilliant week staying here. The only criticism I would say is the hoover needs to be changed. I only used it once and it made the flat smell like wet dog. Otherwise we had a brilliant time.
Fantastic apartment lovely location.
