Fisherbeck Farm Cottage Reviews

Nicola
Our second visit and already planning our third, an excellent cottage in a perfect location
We loved it so much, we have booked again for next Christmas! Lovely comfortable cottage, well stocked and in a perfect location. Beautiful Christmas tree and the champagne provided was a nice touch! Already looking forward to staying there again.
Lovely comfortable house & perfect position. We would definitely book Fisherbeck Farm Cottage again.
Nadene
The property was great, everything that we needed was provided inside. The property was warm and very comfortable, with plenty of space. The kitchen was well equipped making it easy to eat in when we wanted to. The beds were all very comfortable and the shower facilities were great. The only thing i would point out is that there is no way to secure the back of the property eg a gate etc. Whilst we didn't have any children or dogs with us this we would be unable to recommend to anyone travelling with them.
Unfortunately the cottage was covered in dog hairs. It had obviously not been cleaned to a high standard, very disappointing. My husband had to hoover the main bedroom on our arrival. The cushions were also covered in dog hairs. I am aware this is a dog friendly cottage but it needs to be cleaned thoughly for those guests who are not dog owners.Thought this was a holiday!
Fantastic location, just away from the hustle and bushel of the village. We were able to park the car and access walks close by and stroll around the village. The neighbours were friendly. The house had a lovely outlook and Windermere was only a short stroll away. Although listed as dog friendly the garden area was not gated and pets can easily access the road area from the front and back of the property. Overall, we had a fantastic break away as a family and will look to return again. Thank you.
Great holiday cottage with everything you need and right in the middle of Ambleside. Very modern and well equipped. However, it states it is dog friendly , which it is. However, the garden is not enclosed which would have been an added bonus.
We had a lovely week at Fisherbeck Farm Cottage which is very well equipped. It's in a good quiet location with hill walking straight from the door and a 510 minute walk into town. It worked vey well for us as a family with young adults and dogs.

We enjoyed our stay at Fisherbeck Farm Cottage, it was well positioned for the lake and town. We felt there were a couple of things that should be checked, the fridgefreezer was iced up and not working properly until we turned it up, so in need of a defrost. There was no shaver point in the bathroom and it was very dusty under the furniture and behind the bed and a partly chewed ball under the rug in the loungediner. All this said we had a lovely time and would recommend the cottage and would return again.
Could do with a really thorough clean,so many spiders, webs and stains. Cut short holiday as family not happy with cleanliness.
Lovely house and great garden space
Lovely homely property and perfect location with many walks from the door. Large patio would be lovely for use in the summer. The garden is not enclosed, but there's a long cable for restraining your dog. Don't forget washing up liquid, but a few dish washer tablets, sponge and tea towels were provided.

We have visited a couple of times now and raised the upstairs toilet flush last time but same again after about two years! Very slow in emptying and causes issues. Cobwebs everywhere and thick dust in many places therefore cleaned ourselves on arrival and a few times during week. Pan handles off,no jug for mixingcooking and no oven gloves so had to use hand towel! Location and property itself is beautiful and gardener came whilst there so that is well maintained.
We cannot fault the property. It is spacious and well designed with a fabulous kitchen and top of the range ovens. The beds especially are extremely comfortable and the best I've stayed in. However, as others have often previously stated, the garden is not enclosed and has no gate. I'm curious as to why this has still not been addressed as it would make such a difference to those with dogs andor children. There is a fabulous patio area with very comfortable furniture but it is very difficult to properly relax with a dog or child, knowing that there is no gate. Also, the reclining sofa in the kitchen area, does not recline and hasn't for some time according to the guest book. We reported this to the the Lake Lovers office just around the corner for advice and they were extremely efficient in coming around to check it out. It turns out as we suspected, that it is missing a cable to plug in. Please don't be put off by this review because the property is fabulous, as well as the location. What concerns me is that issues such as the nonenclosed garden and nonreclining couch have been ignored. Also, there were a few items in the property that we would have expected, such as hand soap there are 3 bathrooms. None of the dispensers had been filled. Also, there is a coffee machine in the property that isn't mentioned on the listing. We would have loved to have made use of this not having one at home, but had come unprepared as it required coffee pods. Nowhere in Ambleside supplied them, which was a shame, but had we known, we would have brought some. Again, I cannot fault the property and location but just need to point out some details in the property and information on the website that would make the extra difference.
We had a wonderful stay at your cottage, it was immaculately clean and had everything needed to make our stay very comfortable. The situation in the heart of Ambleside was perfect. The only one thing would have enhanced our stay would have been a secure garden for the dogs though this wouldnt put us off returning.
Nicola
Beautiful property, so comfortable and even though its so close to the centre of town its very quiet. Great for walking out straight from the door. We are already planning our next visit.
We stayed over new year for the week, 5 adults and 2 babies. The cottage was immaculate and just a short walk into Ambleside. The owners had left a bottle of champagne for us which was a lovely touch! We had a small issue with the heating, in that it was fine downstairs but upstairs was quite cold in some of the rooms. We called the number left on the information and the owner was very quick to respond and explained how to sort it! We mainly used the kitchen area as it had a TV in there and our little boys could play in the open space and meant we could interact with each other when cooking. However the lounge was lovely, as we all of the bedrooms bathrooms. Utility was a good extra! The garden isnt secure so not able to let dogs or children run out in it but there was a lot of space with tables chairs and a bbq if the weather was right. Plenty of dishwasher tablets and bin bags were left for us but there was no cleaning spray washing up liquid so youd need to bring this with you I know this varies in self catering. Overall, a fantastic stay and beautiful cottage and we would definitely stay here again tell others about it! Thank you!
Found the downstairs light switches very confusing , so many of them and no logic to which lights they switched on . Even after a week we hadnt got used to them. Shower screen in bathroom meant it was very difficult to get in or out of the bath as it doesnt fold and it was awkward to reach the bath taps. Lovely house otherwise and well equipped.
Robert
Lovely house, well situated. Clean, comfortable. Would be good to have a mirror near a socket for hairdrying.
We had a lovely stay at this fabulous property . Its spacious well equipped and comfortable in a lovely quiet setting. The outside area is lovely and well maintained with plenty of outdoor seating . As others have said it would be even better if it was fully enclosed so it is safer for children and dogs. Its in a great location we walked into Ambleside and to Borrans park every day with our dogs . There are TVs in every room . Nice powerful showers in the bathrooms . The utility room was great for drying wet coats . It has a spacious master bedroom with ensuite which would be even better if it had a mirror near a plug point and a dressing table . The kitchen is well equipped and the instructions for the appliances were on hand and easy to follow. A few minor things no handwash, washing up liquid , kitchen roll or basic cleaning stuff which I feel are essentials.
Philip
One of the families favourite Ambleside Cottages, short walk from Ambleside centre and would recommend. The only one addition to tick all the boxes would be to secure the garden for the dogs.
Esther
I thought the property was even nicer than it looked on the pictures. Loved the extras like the outdoor dog lead attachment because the garden wasn't secure.
Great property and location close to all the amenities of Ambleside.
Lovely spacious place with everything you need, and location perfect.
Kirsty
No soap in the bathrooms and no washing up liquid provided. Have stayed at the property before it's been extended, they have done a lovely job. Really nicely done.
Philip
The property was generally very good and well suited to holidaying in Lakeland. The heating controls were haphazard and did not consistently work as advertised. The tiled floor downstairs was quite grubby, we mopped and cleaned it ourselves. The TV in the kitchen did not work as advertised. The mattresses in both double beds need replacing as they have both sunk significantly in the centre. All of that said, it was a very comfortable, well equipped and thought out cottage
Caroline
This is a beautiful property and we had a lovely stay. Just a couple of things would have made it perfect. A chair in the master bedroom for doing hair & makeup and it would have been great if the garden was secure so we could let our dog out without having to harness her up. Just a picket fence and gate along the parking areasteps and a gate at the front would have done the trick. Having said this we would definitely return but would bring a folding chair with us next time!
The property was lovely, ideal location, very spacious, clean and modern. Was just missing a pair of kitchen scissors. We all thoroughly enjoyed the holiday thank you so much!
Fisherbeck Farm cottage is a beautiful cottage in a lovely location. The beds were lovely and comfortable and there was enough space for us all. I feel that the garden area could be fenced off for the safety for dogssmall children. The drains however seem blocked and you could see water spilling out over the patio area when the main shower was being used. There was a very unpleasant smell and it would put anyone off dining outside. Also on our last night, after we had cooked using the oven, it went off completely at around 11 PM when my son tried to use it again. I did write in the visitor book and hope it got fixed for the next people arriving. We stay in Ambleside every year and have stayed in many different cottages. We would definitely stay again, if these problems were resolved. We did however have a lovely holiday. Thank You
Heather
We had a lovely stay at Fisherbeck farm cottage. The house itself was near enough perfect for us as a family of 4. The only negative was that the garden was not enclosed so our dog was not able to be outside by himself. This would also be a problem if you had small children. Location is amazing and lots of beautiful walks from the cottage. Ambleside town only a 5 minute walk away. Would love to return someday if the garden was made dog friendly.
Elaine
This is our second visit, and we had a lovely week. A couple of points for the owner 1 Pendant light bulb not working over dining table Electric reclining Sofa not stable, feels as if it has become unclipped in the middle. It would be beneficial if the grass was fenced, so our dog could run freely, when it is let out. Still one of our favourite cottages in the lakes, will visit again one day.
Jonathan
This is our fourth time staying at Fisherbeck cottage. We love the house even though probably too big for the two of us and the dog!! Great location and we feel really at home as soon as we step in the door. We will definitely be booking again.
Rachael
This was our second stay at Fisherbeck Farm Cottage. It is a lovely cottage in a perfect location. It was well equipped and very comfortable. We all loved it, including our 2 cocker spaniels! We were really lucky with the weather and enjoyed sitting out on the patio which had a great view. We would definitely stay here again.
Excellent accommodation. Very spacious, well specd and close to the town centre.
Beautiful house in a good location. The house is large, very clean and can easily accommodate 6 people. Plenty of kitten utensils, beds are very comfortable and everything is very new and top quality.Outside furniture is great and well thought out with a nice bbq.The only negative would be that the garden is not at all dog secure which caused a problem as could not let our dog in the garden without being on a lead. Also the steps down from parking area are unlit, unfortunately the lights do not work, so are very dark during the winter months. We had to use the light from mobiles to see. A handrail is needed as in the wet or icy weather they become slippery and dangerous. Apart from that it is a top quality house, nicely positioned just a few minutes walk from the centre and would highly recommend and would like to return.
Good morning, cottage is fantastic. Plenty of room, good facilities and a good location. FYIVery small point but the external lights on the fence either dont work or we couldnt find the switch to turn them on, could be the cause of a fall on the darker nights. Thanks Bryan
This was our third time staying at Fisherbeck Farm Cottage, we love the location and it was warm and welcoming. However, as mentioned by someone else, the ensuite smells a bit unpleasant, could be the loo, otherwise all good thank you!
We really enjoyed our stay at Fisherbeck Farm Cottage. The property has a modern feel, although it is is very cosy. It is a perfect retreat after a day out on the fells.
