Excellent Cottage and Location We will return! We had a wonderful Christmas stay in Briadale Cottage. The cottage had everything we needed and was really warm and cosy. The views from the shared garden were amazing too! Perfectly situated for a quick walk into Ambleside town and the many walks in the local area. It was our first stay at Briadale but certainly won't be our last. I would highly recommend.

We booked this little break very much last minute and what a find Briardale Cottage turned out to be. It was very clean, wellequipped, with a very comfortable, kingsized bed. The logburner was prepared ready to use and there were plenty of logs there to use for at least 2 nights as well. There even is a downstairs toilet, which came in handy. The wifi is also spot on, you can use netflix etc, iplayer as well. The location of the cottage is perfect too, literally a 2 minute walk to our favourite pub, The Golden Rule and less than 10 minutes to the town centre. Parking instructions are clear and you can literally park right outside. There are 3 little things to mention, which would make the stay even better. We couldn't find any lighters, or matches, to light the fire. In the little cleaning pack there are dishwasher tablets, but there is no dishwasher, it would have been great to have washing powder for the washing machine and finally, we struggled to open they keysafe upon arrival and departure. Maybe we just had bad luck with it, but a Sykes maintenance engineer was there within 10 minutes and we left the keys in a safe place when we left again, and Sykes were happy with it. It did not spoil the stay though and we cannot wait to return. Briardale really is a very homely cottage in the perfect location.
Great little cottage very handy for the shops and Ambleside centre. Parking was no trouble as we were the only car on the private parking area, which was amazing as it does get tight. Well equipped kitchen, washer was handy however never did get the dryer to work, if it infact did?? Perhaps look into that. Overall a lovely holiday cottage, with some great features, cute log burner was a real treat. No complaints from us. Would definitely book again. Thank you. X
Its our second time at Briardale because even though compact it's location is great. Only gripe this time is there was no washing liquid and we had to buy some to leave the cottage as we found it.

Lovely, comfortable, well equiped cottage in a perfect location. Ambleside really nice little town with plenty of restaurants & shops, short walk to lake for cruises etc. Great system for short stay parking in town, Disc system allowing you to park up you an hour free in designated areas on street. Parking was a bit tight at cottage mainly because of other holidaymaker parking in the wrong place and a large pot
The property is lovely and in the perfect location! We had read other reviews stating a couple of issues reg the kitchenworktops & smells from the downstairs toilet drain, but we didn't encounter those. We would book again
Third year we have stayed in this property. Close to town centre, always clean, parking for small car and great views from the rear garden.
Loved the cottage . It all the facilities that we needed. Inside and out . Very warm too, great central heating . The location is spot on the town and for hill walking .

Hi, we really enjoyed staying at your place, nice and close to town and even had its own parking. We would like to say, though that the refrigerator freezer door doesnt close properly. Theres no ashcan for the fireplace. We did have difficulty with the front door Removing the key. Overall, a very nice place to stay in a very nice town.

We loved Briardale. Clean, quiet, cosy, fabulous views. Perfect location. The only negatives are the parking can be tricky to get out if others are parked and the fact that the garden isnt enclosed. With a dog that means you cant have the back door open to enjoy the views, and constant vigilance if theyre out having a sniff. It would be a very easy thing to fix, provided all the owners agreed to it. Otherwise a wonderful stay.
As in the book a wonderful cottage with views great walks and central location. Thankyou for making it available for others to enjoy.
Great location, small but cosy and fine for short stay. Lot of comments about parking but diagram in porch explains where to park and not as difficult as some people make out even when other vehicles are also parked. Would stay again if visiting Ambleside.
We had a lovely week in the cottage. It was in the perfect location and very cosy. We could do loads of walks straight from the door and use it as a base for going further afield. Our Labrador Milo had the best time too.
Lovely property, very sweet cottage and we really enjoyed our stay. Good location too. However, it would have been nice if some basic amenities were provided, such as more than 1 loo roll and hand soap in each toilet as well as cooking oil.
The holiday property was great 2nd visit, the problem was with your sub contractor Heart of the Lakes. We arrived late and no keys in box. In fact instructions advised by Sykes were wrong. No glass door to access security box and box has no handle! Eventually noticed the instructions pinned further up wall. Opened box, no keys! Phoned emergency number and rep came 30 mins later, very pleasant and apologetic. Went to return keys at 10 Sunday, No access and noone there. Decided to leave in security box. No instructions on pack for such a situation!! I intend writing to Sykes regarding this which seems the only way to communicate with you?

The place was perfect for what we were looking for. Cottage was nice and clean with everything in very good working order. Very comfortable bed. Good location, close to so many tourist attraction sites. Would not mind booking the cottage again next time I visit the Lake District. We recommend this cottage for someone looking for a quiet but comfortable place to stay.

Generally lovely , cottage had everything you need. Perfect location just back off the main town with shops and restaurants

The cottage is cosy and in a perfect spot. The garden is wonderful, but for what we paid, it wasn't the usual standard we are used to. The manuals just had instructions for items, nothing interesting to read at all. No plastic bags for the waste bin, thankfully we had brought some with us, no welcome pack, toilet seat loose in bathroom. Just basic things were there really, we don't have this in other Sykes properties and we've stayed in a few. Also had to move cobwebs from three rooms. So a bit disappointing on arrival, but we made the best of it and enjoyed the Lakes, didn't ruin the holiday. One last point .. parking .. it states one small car in the description. I have a Fiesta, but with the other cars parked up which were 4x4s, was impossible to park, so we parked in the main car park down the road which was 38.50 for a week.

We had a fabulous week at Briardale Cottage, it was lovely and comfortable, very clean we will certainly recommend this cottage to others. The only reason I didn't leave a review in visitors book, I didn't have a pen! The only thing I would suggest, and this isn't a criticism, but a slip mat in the shower would be safer than not having one. My husband who has a knee injury didn't feel safe whilst showering. But like I say, it's a polite suggestion. Thank you for making this holiday such a memorable one, and the pub around the corner The Golden Rule is very welcoming! Great atmosphere! Kind regards Lorraine Miller
The property was clean with all that was needed for a comfortable break. Appears to have a new shower with a good strength and although boiler, which also seemed new, was in the bedroom, it was very quiet and did not disturb. Property ideally situated and with a seated area in the garden is perfect for those sunny days.
Few thinks maybe could do with update or replace the gas oven took time to ... Few thinks maybe could do with update or replace the gas oven took time to ignight and the sink does smell quite bad needed to clean frequently
We had a lovely 2 nights, cottage was great! We will definitely be back.

The key question is always would I stay here again? and this time the answer is unfortunately no. On the plus side the property has an absolutely fantastic location, 60 secs walk from town, a pretty but not enclosed garden and a nice wood burner. The negatives far outweigh these positives though. There is a very bad smell in the kitchen, like years of grease are ingrained in it and a strong smell of drains from the down stairs toilet. Try as we might with candles etc we could not cover it and it returns very quickly, it's really unpleasant. The next main issue is that the boiler is very noisy and it's in a cupboard in your bedroom, we had to turn it off each night to be able to sleep which results in a freezing cold house in the morning. The shower is also a really, really old design with very bad water pressure so no refreshing hot shower after a day on the hills. Finally the place is just in dire need of upgrade, very tired decor throughout and comes with the absolute bare minimum essentials when you arrive, every other cottage we've ever stayed in had more. The welcome pack for this cottage is just a book of equipment manuals and risk assessments rather than the usual personalised book about the cottage and how to make the best of it. Seems like it is being run with minimal effort and investment. We enjoyed our week in Ambleside as always but compared to other similar priced properties we've stayed in before this one was a let down.
Exactly as advertised will definitely recommend but more important we will be back
I thought the house had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. It would have been better with a key safe at the property rather than having to collect and drop off the keys at the office, also the parking was very tight and maybe an option to use the large open car park across the road foc would have been appreciated.
Really enjoyed our first stay at Briardale, great location being close to Ambleside with beautiful south facing views of the fells from the garden. We didnt have any problems with on site parking of an estate car like we thought we might from reading the listing diagram in the porch was super helpful! The only thing we feel could and should be improved is the high level cleaning lots of visible cobwebs which had built up over time. We are definitely looking to return for our next visit in the new year! Thank you for a lovely stay!
Great property which had everything we needed! Set in a great place and local to all amenities. We had a wonderful stay Thankyou!

This cottage is perfectly situated in Ambleside and ideal for 2 people. There were a couple of things that were disappointing though. The wood burner in the fireplace was not laid with logs which would have been handy as there were none in the cottage. We couldn't turn the central heating on and we were cold. Also, very basic cooking items such as salt, pepper and oil were not available to cook on arrival. I understand that perhaps we should have brought these with us, but other cottages we have been to have supplied small amounts of these. The pillows on the bed need renewing too. In saying all of this though, we had a really good holiday in the cottage and all of the above did nothing to spoil it.

Had a lovely week at briardale cottage . Car parking was a bonus and had no problem, although I can see it could be . I think there was 3 private spaces and 5 cottages. We was approached by a holiday maker arriving just after us as they thought we were in their space , but showed our clear instruction that if belonged to our cottage. There is a car park very close at a cost of 35 a week , we had looked into this before hand as wasnt sure wed fit our car into the space . Garden area is lovely and the property is a very cosy clean little cottage very close to all amenities. Lovely log burner but no wood was provided. Lots of wardrobe Space and a handy porch for all your walking gear . We had a fabulous stay and would recommend this property.

A lovely cottage with great amenities and space for two people and a dog.

A lovely little cottage in a fantastic location, we would book this again! The living room with its log burner was great for chilly evenings, and the little patio was a lovely suntrap in the evening with a beautiful view for al fresco dining. The bed was comfy. As describedshown in the photos of the property, the bathroom is rather small but not an issue for two people, plus there is a downstairs loo. The kitchen is relatively small but we found it well equipped with pans etc, it had everything we needed. We had no issues with parking during our stay, reversing into a good sized space at the end of the lane, but we imagine in peak season if all the cottages are full it might be a bit more challenging dependent on how others park their cars. The pub The Golden Rule just around the corner was definitely a bonus!
Beautiful little cottage and was immaculately clean. Home from home with everything you need to cook. Small complaint of boiler being in bedroom, when its cold and you need the heating, the boiler kicked in and woke us up frequently. Also perhaps the provision of a first aid kit should be provided.
Excellent customer service, lovely cottage , with everything you need to have a lovely break away
We had a good stay at Briardale cottage, it just wasn't up to the standard of previous cottages we have stayed at. It was a little tired and in need of some refurbishment, and the dead mouse on the glass above the stairs was the first thing we saw everytime we passed it. Personally we like a tv in the bedroom and there wasn't one, we understand that's not for everyone but makes a difference to us. It was useful to have a parking space right outside our cottage and to be so close to the town is perfect. The usual information pack that we read as soon as we get to any of your cottages was pretty much empty, not the usual standard we've come to expect from staying in one of your cottages. These are helpful, everything in one place to refer to if you have a query but you'll see what I mean when you look at this cottage's packempty. It was a comfortable stay but I'm a little disappointed that we've booked the same cottage for next April.
Charlotte
Lovely cottage, well equipped with an amazing view of the fells from the back patiogarden! An extremely relaxing stay!
Jillian
The cottage comes with allocated off road parking. However, the parking space was extremely difficult to get in and out of and we have a small car and we were reliant on the other tenants in the cottage block parking considerately which unfortunately sometimes didnt happen. Would have preferred a parking permit to avoid the daily parking trauma.
Great cottage, excellent location. Fantastic week spent in the beautiful Lake District.
