Wynford Reviews

Barbara
Outstanding property for a large group of adults. Great location. We had a problem with the washing machine and within 30 minutes of reporting the issue to Sykes, 2 maintenance team members arrived, and resolved the problem.
Sharron
Fabulous accommodation for extended family. Great cooking facilities and short walk to centre of Ambleside. Lovely walks from the house too. Have stayed at Wynford twice now and will book again.
Wynford is an extremely well furnished and equipped property. It is an excellent property for a group of people or for families, well situated in the central Lakes area. Sadly if anything goes wrong with the property whilst you are there you are in trouble as the booking agent does not get back to you. This spoilt what could have been an excellent holiday.
Fantastic property in a great location. Fully equipped with everything we needed. Great sized rooms with very large comfy beds. Thank you also for the welcome pack and wine.
Vivienne
We loved the property it was excellent. There was 12 of us annd still plenty of space , to be able to all enjoy being together but also able to have chilling space as well . Perfect family or large group holiday . The location & views were sensational.
Pamela
An amazing holiday property in a great position. Very well equipped and we appreciated the games, etc. Both our online food deliveries managed to negotiate Nook Lane which was very useful. Would certainly book again and recommend to others.
Superb house and facilities. Extremely clean. Loved it.
WoW. Claire & Ian. An absolutely fabulous property in an ideal location, beautifully appointed, with everything you could think of to make a family holiday perfect in every way. Christmas at Wynford was just gorgeous. Thank you for the Christmas decorations and lovely welcome gifts. There were 6 adults 2 children. 1 cocker spaniel and Wynford fitted our needs like a glove with room to spare. The open plan was a great space and the girls loved having their own area to play. The kitchen area is well equipped we didn't miss anything. Having a separate utility room was a great bonus. All the bedrooms and bathrooms are to a high standard and we just love the Orla Kiely theme throughout the property. Fabulous views. I imagine sitting out on the terrace would be stunning. We explored Ambleside and all its nooks & crannies and great walks in surrounding areas. Great local cinema. We ate at Zeffirelis vegetarian highly recommend and lovely ambience. The girls enjoyed the Gem shop on North Street. Walk up to the waterfalls and beyond to Force Cafe. Great place to eat or just for coffee. Again stunning views. Thank You for sharing your beautiful property. We will return.
Barbara
Fantastic property in a brilliant location. Perfect accommodation for a party of adults double rooms with ensuite bathrooms. Lovely comfortable social area, well appointed kitchen and facilities, lots of car parking. We've already booked for our preChristmas family gettogether for 2025.
Claire
Absolutely loved our short break at Wynford it was more than perfect. Beautiful spacious house in a stunning location. Facilities and amenities are more than enough, they really have thought of everything, just fabulous for a family gathering. Housekeepers do an amazing job it really is Spotlessly clean. Lovely and warm too and the Christmas tree and decor was a lovely little touch, definitely will be returning. Thank you
Rebecca
Weve been coming to the Lakes for over 30years and this was the best property weve stayed in yet. The rooms and ensuites were very spacious and thoughtfully decorated, but it was the communal areas that really made the property stand out. Plenty of seating options downstairs, a very well appointed kitchen and wonderful views. There was also plenty of space for parking we had 5 cars without issue. The only tricky point was the bins. As a group of 10 we generated a lot of rubbish as everything went into the same bag with no recycling, and despite putting the bins out for collection ahead of the dates, they werent collected. They were already partially filled when we arrived and whilst It didnt impact our stay in any way, this might be something that the owners need to raise with the council. Overall, a wonderful property in a fantastic, quiet location which we would love to return to again.
Excellent house, perfect for our group as we were there primarily for a walking holiday. Easy access to the hills. Centre of Ambleside not too far although it is slightly up hill on the way back!
Hi we had a real problem with the rubbish bins when we arrived all 4 bins were overflowing and we had to bag up our rubbish and keep it in the utility room. With 10 people staying there was a lot as you can appreciate. The bins were supposed to be emptied on Wednesday but were still not emptied when we left. I do regret not reporting this problem immediately. We have stayed in lots of big holiday houses and never had this problem. As you can appreciate we paid a lot of money to rent the house and didnt expect to have to hoard our rubbish. The notice in the house said not to leave any bags outside of the bins or they would not be emptied so we couldnt even do that
Jennifer
Fabulous house and setting, very well equipped and comfortable. We had a wonderful stay with close family and friends, plenty of space for us all and the garden was safe for our dogs. Great that we could wander down to Ambleside or go for walks from the door. There is a big issue with the bins unfortunately, we arrived to full and overflowing bins, not the nicest sight. Lakelovers came and took some of the rubbish away but it seems to be an ongoing problem which will affect other guests. Overall, however, a super place to stay and would definitely recommend Wynford.
Had a leek in the house which made us not have all bedrooms to use and also ... Had a leek in the house which made us not have all bedrooms to use and also tumbledryer did'nt work, had to share bedrooms as to of the bathrooms were out of use for days
The property is lovely and as described. It was a perfect choice for a group of 8 of us to celebrate my partners 50th birthday. The open plan layout made it easy for everyone to relax and socialise and there was plenty of space. The bedrooms were all spacious and comfortable. The standard of decor was lovely and the property was spotlessly clean. The location of the property was also perfect. A short walk into town and no shortage of walks starting and ending at the property. We parked the cars on the Friday and didnt use them again until we left on the Monday. All in all a weekend that we all thoroughly enjoyed and wont forget. To a person everyone has said how perfect the property was for a group like ours.
Third time staying here and as good as ever. Great for 6 couples and great location
Alison
Absolutely loved our weekend here. First time in Wynford and Ambleside, but definitely wont be the last. Lovely clean house with everything you need. Great location, perfect for walking to all the shops, restaurants and bars. Already planning next years visit!
Very comfortable house with all equipment facilities available in great location. Probably another main light at the front of the property would help but on the whole excellent .
Barbara
We loved Wynford location, comfort configuration of rooms, decor. I'll be booking it again for the week before Christmas 2024 as a Lake District visit is a regular part of our family's build up to Christmas, and Wynford is perfect for us. Thank you.
Alison
The fridge was dirty , and the place hadnt been dusted in a while . The lock on the washing machine is broken also.
A beautiful property in very good order inside and out. Located in a lovely location with great views and within 10mins walking to the centre of Ambleside. Enjoyed our stay with our family and slept well. No complaints at all.
Have stayed here before and hope to again. Fabulous house for 12 of us. Everything we need, great location close to Ambleside
Anthony
Everything generally very good. Heating was an issue, but in fairness it was exceptionally cold weather. Had to get maintenance in to sort out the heating which we could not get working on the top floor. A knife sharpener would be handy as all carving knives were blunt. Otherwise an excellent location and facilities. We will be back for sure.
Patricia
Had a fantastic 3 night stay at Wynford in Ambleside. Couldn't fault this beautiful house in any way. We were 7 adults and 4 children and everything you could possibly need was provided. The house was heated perfectly too. Would highly recommend and Lakelovers were very easy and helpful to deal with keeping us fully informed at every stage.
Nicola
Excellent facilitys, thoroughly enjoyed our family holiday, parents, four children, partners and a ten month old. Everything had been thought of and supplied, a few maintenance issues noted but nothing that impacted our holiday. Roman blind on stairs broken and a crack on outside of skylightas I say minor details. We struggled initially with opening the front door, user error but a heads up for future cottage users might save a call out for the very helpful and friendly maintenence team. More hanging space clothes storage for the dressing room area in the loft would have been nice, a nice to have and did not impact on the holiday! A beautiful and well thought home from home!!
A great property in an excellent location, easy reach of Ambleside town centre and the hills. Plenty of space for our family and having ensuites were an absolute bonus. The views were fantastic from the property and kitchen facilities were excellent. We would definitely stay again. Just a small thing, there was a very strange message that was meant to be amusing on a pin board relating to the serial killer 'Fred West'. We could see the funny side, but some people might find this disconcerting and offensive. I would remove this if I was the owner as you never know what you might get!
Beautiful, clean, comfortable and perfect for our four generation family holiday. Plenty of room around the open plan kitchen, dining and living areas so we didn't feel like we were falling over each other. Our two springadors enjoyed the enclosed garden area and slept comfortably in the utility room. The bottom stair gate was useful in stopping them trying to explore upstairs and my nearly 2 year old grandson learned to bump down the stairs on his bottom so a top stair gate wasn't necessary. The location up a bit of a hill was peaceful but still very handy for everything in Ambleside and taking his time even Great Grandpa at 89 managed the walk. There were plenty of pots and utensils for cooking though another couple of serving dishes would have been handy. We had a fabulous stay and have already booked again for next year.
Another great family getaway, pity we had to wait a couple of years and some of the original party could not make it. It felt as though normality was restored, and to spend that time at such a fantastic home was a privilidge. Many thanks, hope to be back next year.
We were a party of 11 adults and were absolutely bowled over by the house. It was stunning, spotlessly clean and had absolutely everything we needed. The location is fantastic for walking and also close to the amenities of the town. We would definitely stay again, 5 stars!!!!
Fabulous property, beautifully presented and very comfortable. Great location. Couldnt fault the house or equipment. Only criticism was we couldnt find which day the bins were emptied.
We had a lovely weekend at Wynford. Great house, very comfortable. My only criticism was as it was the weekend before Xmas it wasnt festive at all. No tree or decorations, very disappointing
Belinda
The house was perfect for a party of 12 adults. It had everything you would need to celebrate christmas early with friends.
Robert
Great location, amazing house, loved our weekend stay and would highly recommend to anyone. Superb value for money.
The communal areas in this house were ideal for our multigenerational holiday, whether at the dining table, cooking in the kitchen or relaxing in the lounge no one was left out. All the rooms were a good standard, with there being no need to squabble for the best room. Kitchen was well equipped, although the baking trays only fit in the larger oven which took some oven juggling for cooking. The views from the lounge snd dining areas were great, and although it rained consistently so we didnt get to use the outside space this looked lovely and there was ample parking. We would definitely stay here again.
Christopher
The accommodation was brilliant but could have done with some oven gloves and more than one tea towel. The wheelie bins were full on arrival and were not emptied during our stay. This was a major issue that could have potentially harmed what was almost a perfect holiday
All the bedrooms and bathrooms were lovely, high quality kitchen equipment, beautiful house, the best one we have rented.
Fantastic property with a high standard of furnishings and kitchen equipment. With wonderful views and comfy beds.
Wynford has high quality fittings and fixtures. Everything you needed was at hand. Nice decor, spacious and welcoming. Wine and welcome boxes a very nice touch!
