Its a nice quiet location which is a short walk up from the Ambleside centre and there is a lovely nearby waterfallcafe at the top of the hill which has great panoramic views. Its an ideal base for exploring the Lake District area. Merry Bank has 2 good sized double bedrooms plus box room, good sized combined kitchendiner and living room which has all the facilities you need to cook and relax.

A very clean and beautifully furnished property in a very good position for the town and hiking from the door. It was very quiet at night. We would definitely stay again

The house is pretty unassuming from the exterior but once you get inside it is cosy, warm and modern and everything you could need. It's brilliantly placed to wander into Ambleside as long as you're ok with a hill walk coming back. Living room sofa and furnishings are great and the kitchen is very well equipped. Upstairs there is a lovely bath for relaxing and the bed was very comfy and the room warm. Would happily stay here again.

The house was just as described and was well maintained. There was everything required for a perfect stay. Great touches like Door hooks & places to dry wet clothes, plus an outside porch with a seat. We really enjoyed our stay. The bed was cosy & very big. We struggled a bit to open the garage door as it is getting a bit old. Our Audi A3 fitted in ok, it was a bit tight to get out of the car though. We would definitely visit again. The location is great & the directions were very clear. An easy walk into Ambleside, a bit uphill on the return. The road was a bit dark at night, so maybe useful to take a torch, but we could see enough to get home. The prosecco & popcorn was a lovely touch. The things listed on other reviews were all there, e.g. Washing up liquid. The fantastic house information guide was excellent. The bins were not emptied during our visit, so maybe the instructions were not quite clear.

Merry Bank is a lovely property and incredibly well located in Ambleside, just a short 5 minute downhill walk from the centre of town, but tucked away in a quiet residential area. The property was spotless on arrival and was easy to check in and out of, the guides and information booklet provided were super helpful. The bed in the main bed was huge and very comfortable, the kitchen and bathroom clean and easy to use. The listing was accurate and we were happy that the property was as described. There was sufficient notice on the listing that parking was unique and only suitable for smaller vehicles so we were able to take the necessary precautions before arriving. The garage door itself is tricky to use but we did become accustom to it during our stay. We were short of hand soap in the bathroom and toilet paper during our stay, but I imagine this was a oneoff miss when turning around the property from the previous guests, as all other provisions were well stocked. We would thoroughly recommend Merry Bank to anyone looking to stay in the Lake District, we had a great time, thanks again for a fantastic stay!

We had such a lovely stay in Ambleside at Merry Bank! The location was perfect, just a short walk into town ideal for us since we didnt bring a car!. The property was lovely and cosy and just a wonderful place to relax, and the kitchen was well equipped. The bathroom was also very nice and modern with a great shower. It would have been great to have a few more supplies provided there was only one laundry tablet and one dishwasher tablet, no hand soap for the bathroom, only 2 toilet rolls, and no dish soap or sponge in the kitchen we were able to pick all this up but wouldve been nicer if this had been supplied instead. The guidebook provided by the owners was also very helpful and had lots of useful info in. We really enjoyed our stay and were very sad to leave!
Merry Bank is a lovely place to stay. Very clean with modern facilities and obviously well looked after by it's owners. Location is great for local walks and convenient for the superb network of bus routes in the area. Parking is fine but not suitable for larger cars!
What a lovely property. Very comfortable and well equipped. The garage was fine. Have a Suzuki Swift and it fitted comfortably into the garage. The buses from Ambleside were great, we used them most days. Extras to bring with you Soap for bathroom. Black bin bags. Washing up liquid if you don't use dishwasher. Would highly recommend. We will return.
We had a fabulous time at Merrybank cottage The cottage was perfect for a selfcatering holiday. The bed was so lovely and cumfy we both had good nights sleep. The front room is comfortable with a great Wifi signal throughout, The kitchen has everything you could possibly need . Theres a lovely patio at the back and a bench at the front to relax and unwind. The attention to detail is the best I've seen in a holiday property and as this is somewhere the owners actually come themselves there was a lot of homely touches. this cottage is a credit to the owners and I wouldn't hesitate in booking Merrybank again. Thank you for sharing your home

Hi! We enjoyed our stay and the property overall was great and in a good location. The first impressions of the property was let down by the long grass knee height and weeds etc as was the rear terrace area which was overgrown. All there was a bag of popcorn and Prosecco in the house for us , wed have preferred some soap in the bathroom to wash our hands rather than trying to find our own luckily we had some. The garage although well described is a challenge . During our stay a car was left outside the garage opposite and although our car would go in it was tight this car made it a lot more difficult . The two road spaces always had cars parked in them so if we hadnt been able to get the car in the garage we would have had to park in the town. We ultimately had no issues and had a great stay but it would have been nice to have a 3rd parking alternative , givevthe challenges of the first two options. Im skinny and agile and could then slide out of the car when in the garage.but anyone less mobile and not so skinny would have had a problem.
We had a real problem with this cottage. The locals in the road had an issue with our parking, we couldnt shut the garage door so our car was sticking out the front, this didnt in anyway impact any of the residents gaining access to their garages. we had a very angry visit after 11.00pm insisting we moved our car. We really didnt feel safe at the property at all. We moved it first thing the next morning.

Merry Bank is in a peaceful location with easy access to the town and plenty of beautiful walks. The secure garage parking was a bonus. The accommodation was well equipped with everything you need all the little details had been thought of. It was absolutely spotless and cleaned to an exceptional standard. The prosecco and popcorn left for us were a lovely gesture and very generous. Everything was just perfect. We had the best time in the Lake District with beautiful weather we hope to return one day. The owners deserve every success with their business. Thank you very much.
Merry Bank was an excellent cottage! Well appointed, extremely comfortable. A real home from home. Fantastic location close to centre of Ambleside. Just be aware uphill alongside Stockghyll. We will definitely stay again when we are in the area. Great to have a garage as we were able to use the local buses to Grasmere, Coniston, Langdale and Bowness. Our Golf fitted in the garage fine but large car may be difficult. Thank you for the welcome pack, much appreciated. A fabulous holiday. Many thanks

Great property in an great location for hiking. Very comfortable, finished to a high spec and well equipped. Peaceful setting but only a short walk to the shoppubs etc. Ideal for my husband and I for the week.
Frances
Absolutely loved it here. Couldnt fault a thing. Thank you.
A really comfortable, well equipped house and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were warned about the access issue but it was tricky arriving after dark. However, we parked in the bay on the road and because the location is good, we were able to do walks from the door and didnt use the car until we left, so that was great. My only criticism would be about the temperature its cosy once the temperature has been manually adjusted but a default of 10.5 is too low so chilly on arrival which isnt very welcoming, and downstairs isnt warm in the morning by the time youve turned up the thermostat, youre ready to go out before a comfortable temperature is reached and then its cool again when you return at the end of the day.
Great property, comfortable, and modern, nicely decorated. Everything we needed. Great location quiet but close to Ambleside, walks on doorstep.
Stephen
Very well equipped, excellent position slightly out of the bustle of Ambleside in August but still close to town.
A very well presented cottage with everything you could possibly want. The location was perfect and was so quiet and peaceful. My brother and I couldnt find any fault with it. Will definitely stay again if we return to the Lake District. Many thanks.
What an amazing little place. Perfect for our getaway. Useful information booklet and the house was well equipped. Bedrooms are a good size and the beds were very comfy. Small outside area to have a coffee in the morning and a short walk up to a lovely cafe force or down into Ambleside. There is a garage to park your car and even though its small we did managed to park our qashqai in there. We hope to return.
Excellent compact property on the outskirts of Ambleside. Short walk into the town to all the facilities. Lovely open plan kitchen diner living space with two good size double beds. Very well stocked with the exception of kitchen roll and we couldnt find an iron and board Great house in the heart of our favourite town in the Lakes. Recommended!
Shelley
Immaculate place to stay! Great location to explore The Lakes. The property was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. I was particularly impressed with the area to dry your clothes under the stairs. The only negative is the car parking space in the garage is small however it is doable and there are off road parking spaces in the locality if you dont fancy using it.
Put a tv in the room
We found Merry Bank to be an ideal property to base ourselves in Ambleside. It has all the facilities we required in a very quiet location but just a few minutes walk to the town centre. We would certainly book this property again in the future.
Hi as i mentioned my e mail, its a lovely house but the garage is not big enough for modern cars to drive in and open a door to get out. Also people park their cars in front of their garages as they can't use them and so block up the car park garages. Luckily as out of season we manged to find a space on the hill to park a bit away, in season there would be no chance. Therefore i believe the house should not be advertised with garage parking no one measures their cars merely storage for say bikes . So we will not use Merry Bank again.
