Second stay here. Clean and tidy and welcoming. Warm and cozy. Easy access to the town and good parking. Occasional disturbance from visitors to second floor apartment which is not mentioned in the agency description. Already booked for next year.

We spent Christmas at Mardale and enjoyed every minute. This is the second Christmas weve done in Ambleside so were familiar with the area and the house is in a great position for hiking and going out in the evening. The kitchen facilities are really good, with plenty of fridge and freezer space. Its also one of the rare properties in Ambleside that has parking for 2 cars. Its a great property and housed a family of 5, plus two dogs very comfortably. The only reason I didnt give it a higher rating is because the double bedroom was a little cold. My parents had this room and had to use a lot of extra blankets. Could be because the radiator is much smaller in that room. We had the king size room and it was lovely and toasty. The shower in the main bathroom didnt get particularly hot either. Not sure why, as the shower in the en suite was fine. None of this impacted our stay though and Id certainly consider renting Mardale again.

We had a lovely week at the mardale. One of the best properties we have stayed at. Comfortable, clean, well equipped. Excellent location, close to centre, but very quiet when sat out in lovely outside space. Would definitely return. Thankyou.

Lovely, well equipped holiday home. Plenty of crockery, pots & pans etc. We made good use of the patio in the lovely weather we had. Good location with 2 parking spaces. All perfect for our family. Only one tiny problem, which needs attention.... there was an unpleasant lingering smell in the main bathroom when we arrived, we think it was from under the bath, but not sure. It eased over time by leaving the door open, but didn't go away sorry we didn't report it to Sykes whilst we were there. But it didn't spoil or impact our holiday.

Exceptional property. Spotlessly clean, spacious, comfortable. Everything has been thought of. Kitchen is amazing. Bedrooms are lovely. You cannot possibly fault it. We stay in Ambleside every December for our wedding anniversary and this was one of the best yet. Tried to book it for next December but no surprise it is booked and for most of next year. Thanks to the owners for sharing this property.
Fantastic cottage in the heart of the Lake District. Very close to the centre of Ambleside with all of its amenities within easy walking distance. We had a very enjoyable break and the cottage provided a warm and welcoming base after a days exploration of the area. We will return to Mardale next time we are in the Lakes.
Spacious, comfortable with good range of utensils. Missed having a full length mirror in the main bedroom but very impressed with the amount of storage, weve never had so many drawers! The location was perfect for us being within walking distance of the centre of Ambleside and we liked the uphill walk on the way back. It was also nice to have a garden to sit in with a drink before dinner.
The property was beautiful, finished to a very high standard. We wanted to take the kitchen home but we couldn't get it in the car, lol. We really enjoyed our week's stay and we wouldn't think twice to stay again.

Very quiet, peaceful location. The sound of the water was lovely. Great location for walks from the door but also great just to relax. As somebody else said, take your own hand wash. That was the only thing missing. The kitchen is so well stocked with every utensil you can think of. Very modern kitchen. Nice comfortable beds. This was one of the best places that we have stayed at.
The property was perfect for us, well set out, clean and well appointed. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we could need. A special mention for the beds the mattresses and pillows were so comfortable. We had a lovely week and would definitely go back.

We found Mardale to be an excellent holiday base for our party of four adults and two children. On arrival the property was warm, spotlessly clean and we soon found the kitchen to be very well equipped. The rest of the property was nicely decorated and furnished and the rooms were spacious. Having two bathrooms was really useful as was a utility room with laundry facilities. Ample parking and a short stroll from the centre of Ambleside were further plus points. We would happily return.

Superb property in a very convenient location. Every facility provided for a holiday stay. We had a minor problem with the shower in the main bathroom but was sorted whilst we were there. Very comfortable and spacious cottage would recommend

We really enjoyed our stay at Mardale. The cottage was very well kitted out both with the quality of products and in the kitchen the quantities provided. Our son loved playing with the games & we used the walking books to do some lovely walks including one from the house around Stock Ghyll.
I was very impressed with the property. It was very well appointed and is in a great location. The beds were very comfortable and it was also nice to have some outside space. I'd be very happy to stop there again
An enjoyable stay in a very well equipped and tastefully furnished ground floor apartment. Conveniently placed a short 5 min walk from Ambleside centre, via a pretty and quiet lane steep but nice. Easy parking and access to a small garden area. Bedrooms very comfortable, but 2 are overlooked by access drive to an adjoining property, so would really benefit from daylight blinds of some sort for daytime privacy.

The property was very comfortable and warm despite the extremely cold weather. We met the owners in the adjacent property and it was clear that they had invested a considerable effort in ensuring that Mardale had a very high specification. The only minor quibble is that the showers worked best if only one was used at a time and no other appliances were drawing water. The property was cleaned to a good standard but only a basic issue of loo paper was provided and no soap dispensers were provided in the bathrooms. It also took us a while to find the hidden drawer with the bulk of the place settings. Otherwise we had a very enjoyable stay and the property was ideally situated for excursions to The Golden Rule!

We really enjoyed our stay at Mardale, the property is extremely well kempt, and had all that we needed. The location is great, just a very short walk into Ambleside, which was ideal. It's a perfect place to relax after a days activities, we had our 16month old twins, and our dog with us, and we all had a great time, many thanks!

We had a lovely stay in this property. It was ideally located near to the town, with plenty of space for us to relax, nicely decorated with all the mod cons that you would want, as well as comfortable beds. Great off road parking, and an enclosed garden. The water pressure was such that only one person call shower at time there are 2 showers on the property. We enjoyed the stay so much we have booked again next year
