Loughrigg View Reviews

Caroline
Perfect place to stay to explore Ambleside and surroundings areas. The views from the windows were great and the flat had everything we needed. It is spacious and was immaculately clean. We will definitely be back!
Beautiful flat, comfortable bed, excellent bath and well equipped kitchen. I would not stay again because the Lily bar opposite plays exceptionally loud music from 9pm until late which made sleep even with earplugs difficult. I would suggest the owner needs to ask the council to measure the decibel levels I suspect they are way above the uk allowed levels.
Great place for central Ambleside. Parking is a real bonus. The flat is up some stairs which might be an issue for some. It is really tastefully done, with relatively recent bathroom and kitchen overhauls. Kitchen is great for selfcaterers loads of decent cooking kit. Lounge is really comfortable as with others, never got to grips with the TV and BT box that we had no idea how to work not an issue for us as we don't come to the Lakes to stare at a TV, but this might be an issue for some. Positives location is excellent right in the middle of Ambleside great for accessing amenities etc and loads of activities from the door. Parking is a bonus scaffolding has now been removed. Spacious accommodation. Two decent sized bathrooms. Really comfortable beds. The finishing is quality. Negatives location is right in the middle of Ambleside this won't suit everyone. This is not nor does it claim to be an isolated countryside retreat.

Generally a very nice apartment well placed in the centre of Ambleside, well equipped and with very comfy beds. More lighting on the access stairs would be welcome, as would double glazing in the living room to stop the heat leaking out in winter. Also had to figure out the heating controller as we couldn't find instructions for it.
Howard
Lovely flat, good location but dark at the bottom of the stairs, not good when returning after sunset and in the rain! . Rubbish and recycling arrangements not clear and half a dozen bins blocking the access to the stairs. We couldnt work out how to work the TV but that might be us!.
We had a 3 night stay at Loughrigg View with our daughter in August. Ideal location in Ambleside town centre for shops, pubs and restaurants. Perfect base for walks. The apartment had everything we needed. Spacious, well equipped and very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again when we visit Ambleside.
Steven
Had a second stay here to do some walking and exploring the area with my two brothers. Great place to stay while visiting Ambleside. Was a bit disappointed that the DVD player had been removed since our last stay as we were hoping to watch some films. Also surprised that the toaster hadn't been replaced due to the cancel button being broken, we reported this last time. Small issues but they didn't spoil our visit.
Stuart
Really lovely stay and would recommend the place. Only a couple of small complaints. Not being able to open the windows is a big pain. Also the noise from the pub was a little loud but only on the Friday and sat night. Also supplying salt pepper and actual washing sponges would be a big win, however was largely very impressed with how well stocked the place was with utensils.
Its a lovely place with big patios rooms, could do with a little tlc and ... Its a lovely place with big patios rooms, could do with a little tlc and its up a flight of stairs but as a base to stay in in Ambleside its ideal
Toaster is broken Stairs to apartment need a good scrub, and some form of outside lighting for health and safety reasons. Apartment is beautiful, although chilly even with heating permanently on. All in all a lovely stay
Steven
Great place to stay, very close to town centre. Lovely bedrooms one ensuite. Large well equipped kitchen and comfortable living room. Parking was a bit tight due to work in adjacent property. Toaster was broken but apart from that it was a very relaxing stay.
Howard
Super accommodation, great location. Two minor negatives, no lighting on access stairs, bathroom door didnt latch completely.
Joanne
It was a bit noisy with the pub over the road but still had a good nights sleep. Shame no outside space to use to sit outside especially as the weather was super during our stay. Would book this cottage again
Louisa
Really great property, we had a brilliant stay here. Spacious, really well equipped and beautifully decorated, great beds and bathrooms, and little touches like having a bluetooth speaker were really appreciated. Definitely will be staying again.
Brilliant accommodation. Lovely bright rooms. All amenities catered for . Perfectly situated in the centre of town but very quiet. Definitely we would stay again
Excellent property, really enjoyed our stay. Little bit noisy at the weekend but not too bad. Would definitely stay again.
Excellent property, centrally located and well maintained. The only issue was recycling instructions needed to be clearer as we are not from the area. Also it needed to be clearer as to where parking was located i.e. entrance between two buildings on the road a bit vague and the height of the fire escape to the property as some older people would struggle
Loughrigg was the perfect little getaway with a beautiful view of the peaks and a lovely modern decor. It was almost perfect, the only drawback was the noise from the pub opposite the road which continued until 1am in the morning. Of course, I understand that the owners cannot prevent this, but a little forewarning to bring ear plugs to hide the noise or even earplugs provided by the owners would have been appreciated as it was quite disruptive for sleeping. That said, my friends and I had a lovely stay here and it was the perfect location for everything we had planned over our weekend stay. I would definitely recommend it to those visiting the Lakes!
Just the loviest of properties a home from home but better than home! Wanted for nothing in the ideal position for exploring Ambleside and the surrounding area.
Joanna
Really lovely property, handy for centre of town but with equally handy parking too. Would recommend for couples but probably not for families as it was noisy at night, bedrooms are opposite a pub.
Great location and a lovely flat, decorated and furnished really nicely. There was a plumber there replacing the boiler when we arrived not really too much of an issue, we were able to leave our bags and head out until he was finished however he did say that we should have been informed that checkin would be a little late, but we didn't receive a call or an email from Sykes. It's a pity that the finish of the workmanship was a little 'shoddy' the ensuite door didn't shut properly as the latch is fitted the wrong way around, and the door is so squeaky that it wakes everyone else if you need to use during the night! The bulbs in the living room lights must be the wrong type, as the dimmer switch doesn't work, and whoever painted the bedroom doors managed to get paint all over the handles! We had a great stay, and none of the above was a problem, but thought I'd mention so owners were aware.
Amazing property and probably one of the best I have stayed in. It would be helpful if the parking spaces were actually labelled for the individual properties. I appreciate we had an issue with my guest parking in the wrong space, but a name plaque on the wall would make it clear, which space was allocated to which property.
Lovely property, very spacious and central location. Would definitely book there again.
Siobhan
Excellent property, great location and accurate listing. Clean and spacious flat ideal for visiting Ambleside and the Lakes with convenient shops and restaurants all nearby.
Samantha
We had a lovely time, the apartment was in a great central location in Ambleside and was modern, comfortable and clean. Would definitely visit again. Only negative was the cleaner who appeared at 9.50am and rudely told us we should have been out for 9am which seemed very early to me! Wouldnt have minded had she been polite about the situation but she was rude and matter of fact! Took great pleasure in showing her our paperwork which clearly said depart for 10am! I suggested she speak to Sykes who had provided us with documentation as wed have been out before 10am had that been the case. Other than her rudeness which annoyed us all, we all had a great time.
The apartment has all been redecorated to a high standard would definitely stay again need to update pictures
Siobhan
The bath towels were a bit scarce
Had a great time in this very well equipped apartment. The location is central to all amenities and the parking space was a great bonus if a little snug. The apartment exceeded expectations and the photos don't do it justice. Would definitely recommend and will stay again on our next trip to the Lakes. The steps need care when wet.
Very nice good sized central apartment with many walks and facilities from the door. Appreciated the smart TV, Jaccuzi bath and well fitted out kitchen. However some things need attention. The ensuite toilet was moving when you sat on it so we didnt use this one. The sink in there was blocked with hair and black gunk and would not drain until I cleared it out. Yuk. The microwave turntable didnt work so we couldnt use it. The towels provided were also a bit parsimonious.
Lovely, comfortable apartment, very well equipped and in a central location. Only one thing to complain about and that was water pressure when running a bath.
Absolutely fantastic accommodation! Extremely spacious and well equipped and right in the heart of Ambleside. Just come back from a week there with two adults and two grown up children and there was plenty room for all. Will definitely book again
Stephen
Cottage was lovely and i think the pictures 'undersold' it. It was warm, clean and in a brilliant location. Facilities great too. What could you do better? There were a surprising number of light bulbs out 6 so this has not been checkedrectified for a while... Many thanks Steve and Jacquie
Virginia
We were very impressed when entering the property, the rooms were spacious and the finish to the decor and decoration was excellent. Everything had been thought of and it was like a home from home but better! The spa bath was an unexpected treat, the beds were extremely comfortable and the cleanliness was impeccable. Even the musicchat at night from the bar opposite did not bother us, it couldn't be helped and our host had provided a box of earplugs anyway we slept very well. All in all it was a gorgeous property in a beautiful location we had an amazing time.
Jennie
Extremely noisy due to the bar opposite which had bands on until late on sat and Sunday night and tues night. Considering leaving early because its been so bad. The metal staircase is not suitable for the elderly or people with small children. Very nice inside but wouldnt cool again due to the noise
Albert
We were pleasantly surprised at the central location, and despite other reviews access to car parking was not an issue, although narrow. You do need to be able to climb stairs though The flat was larger than we'd anticipated, well laid out, clean and well equipped. Comfy beds too, and sun streaming through the windows. And a great view from the lounge We had that rarity in Cumbia in April a week of sun, so thanks for arranging that... We will be booking again, maybe for 2 weeks!
The apartment was large with plenty of room for the four of us. It was immaculately clean with comfortable beds and plenty of storage. It's in a brilliant location, very central for the town. Only downside was a couple of drawers in bedroom needed repairing and some late night noise from lily bar across the road but we would definitely stay again.
Christine
Fantastic location, well equipped appartment. Only downside could hear noisy people in the flat next door from time to time quite late, but did not spoil our stay.
Very clean wellequipped apartment in excellent location in middle of town. Slightly noisy at times due to traffic and parking space a bit tight.
Loughrigg View was a great holiday cottage for our recent trip to Ambleside. Location was perfect for all the shops and facilities in the heart of Ambleside. It did however mean that there was noise from the main road outside, it didnt however cause too much disruption. The cottage was well equipped with everything you could need and more, we will certainly be back!
It was a really good apartment, and all as described. A small welcome pack milk etc. would have been nice, most cottages we have rented included this. It may be worth pointing out in the description that the apartment is on a busy junction with quite a bit of road noise, and is opposite a bar The Lilly which is open very late and pretty noisy if you have the windows open in summer
