About Kirkstone Pass

This remarkable, mountain-top escape is a destination you’ll remember forever. Its exuberant luxury combines with a unique setting on the high-level Kirkstone Pass, making it a superb choice for a very special holiday with extended family or a large group of friends. The former pub has spectacular views over Windermere and the surrounding hills, and is surrounded by incredible walking and biking trails, with opportunities for water sports and outdoor adventures such as abseiling, canyoning and ridge scrambling. Ambleside is just 3 miles away, where you can explore boutique shops as well as pubs, bars and places to eat. Just 1 mile further, at Waterhead Pier, hire a boat or hop on a steamer for a cruise of Lake Windermere. Within 20 miles you can visit the market town of Kendal, Sizergh Castle and the World of Beatrix Potter attraction, admire numerous waterfalls and even climb Scafell Pike. Step into a world of American-retro style, with luxury throughout and a fabulous array of amenities to keep you entertained. Cool colours, neon highlights and vintage touches seamlessly integrate with modern comforts, creating a uniquely inspiring and relaxing atmosphere. You’ll be impressed from the moment you walk through the door and encounter the incredible kitchen/diner, where efficient cooking facilities (including a range oven and a microwave) combine with bar-style seating for 22 people. Hang out in here and you can select a tune on the juke box, take a selfie with the photo booth, play on a classic arcade game or simply snuggle in the soft seating and enjoy the vibe. A separate breakfast room offers tea- and coffee-making facilities, smaller tables, more comfortable seating and a Smart TV. At the back of the property, the games room is the place for challenging each other at the foosball or air hockey tables, trying out the car simulator or enjoying more arcade games. There’s a Smart TV here, too, and if you want to accompany your games night with a snack you can make some popcorn on the machine. Nine individually themed bedrooms are spread across the two storeys of the house; with four on the ground floor and the others upstairs. Seven are doubles, one is a twin, and the others each have two double beds. In one of these rooms, the sleeping areas are separated by pocket doors (creating two interconnected rooms), while in the other the second bed is on a mezzanine. Each bedroom has a luxurious en-suite, as well as a Smart TV for additional entertainment. The fun doesn’t stop when you head outside. A fully equipped casino room stands ready for you to sit down at the blackjack and roulette tables, play poker or try your hand at an arcade game. Still feeling competitive? There’s also a full-size, outdoor snooker table, and table tennis, too. Unwind in one of the two hot tubs, enjoy the heat of the barrel sauna, or cook something delicious either in the pizza oven or on the BBQ – all the while enjoying panoramic views of some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK. Parking is available for 20 cars in the car park opposite, or you could get out and about on two wheels, as there is bike rental available right outside.
