Honeypot Cottage Reviews

Rachel
Had a lovely stay in the cottage with fabulous views. Downstairs did feel cold at times, but it was a very cold week in Ambleside. Outside light was not working which caused problems with parking and coming back late at night.
Steven
Been staying there for years, not to big, far enough from Ambleside to be quiet but only a few mins walk down the hill to be be there . The walk up is good for the heart!
Ideal accommodation for exploring the fells around Ambleside. We parked our car in the parking space provided and didn't use it all week. A short walk into the centre of Ambleside with Rydal and Grasmere a nice ramble away. Very cosy cottage with comfy beds and fully equipped kitchen. Lovely to come back to after a full day's hiking.
A gem of a cottage in a row of three on a hillside out of Ambleside. Views to the hills on a clear day. Nice garden and outside table and chairs. You need to be fit as its a steep walk into the town which has everything you need.
Lovely cottage. Good position with views. Nicely decorated, well appointed kitchen. Comfy beds. Very clean. A very pleasant stay. Couldn't ask for more! Good exercise up the hill from Ambleside. And you can do walks straight from the cottage. Parking needs a bit of practice, as it's quite tight getting in and out but at lease it does have its own space.
Our 2nd time at this property, wouldnt hesitate to recommend given factors such as location a short walk from the centre yet feels like its in the countryside, character, parking. Suits us to a tee.
Eduard
Location is excellent, in the middle of the Lakes District Ambleside. The cottage is at right distance from the town centre 5 min walking for an adult, in a calm area where you can see sheep grazing from the bedroom and the mountains. The bedrooms are a little bit small, but for the rest, is perfect.
Great cosy cottage . . brilliant location with beautiful views! Only just arrived back home but looking to book the property again already
The cottage was perfect, just what we needed. Great views, convenient for Ambleside and easy acces to some great walks. We were blessed with great weather so could make use of the garden too. We had alot of trouble finding the WiFi code when we needed it. Hidden in the picture frame, if that helps anyone!
Steven
Nice wee place , convenient for the town but nicely out of the way, always a good walk back of an evening. One slight issue, the beds in the single room perhaps have to be pulled out so the floor underneath can be vacuumed from time to time, bit dusty.
We had a great stay here. The cottage was warm, very well equipped and in a lovely position. The garden was a bonus and provided a lovely view. Perfect base and would book again.
The cottage was lovely, very cosy and welcoming, Very steep hill wouldn't be ... The cottage was lovely, very cosy and welcoming, Very steep hill wouldn't be suitable for people who had difficulty walking, car parking was a bit awkward Apart from the road everything was ok lovely views all around the cottage
A lovely property, well presented and nice and clean. It was comfortable and a nice place to return to after a days hiking. The property is about 8mins walk from the centre down a steep hill, but the location means its very quiet. The access to parking is tight, but the actual parking space is wide and long enough for a large car. Overall, I thought the property was very good value for the time of year.
Philip
What a lovely location, Ambleside is in an easy walk but the cottage is in a really peaceful location . We were there During May bank holiday week but it was such an escape from the crowds going back to Honeypot Cottage. a well looked after cottage with everything we needed and now we have discovered this we hope to return.
The cottage was great. Very comfortable, clean and well maintained. Liked the location with lovely views over Ambleside. Hope to stay there again.
Stephen
The cottage was lovely, well prepared and perfect for the two of us. Lovely location. We've never been to the Lake District before but we really enjoyed our stay.
Steven
Always enjoy a stay here, quiet spot, only slight problem is the shower, seems to take a long time for any warm water to come through, not the end of the world though, but might be worth looking at. Thanks
Elaine
Cosy cottage with well equipped kitchen, comfortable sofa and comfy bed. Theres a steep hill to walk back from town but there are short cuts to be found and it doesnt take too long and the views from the cottage are worth it. Wed stay again.
We really enjoyed our stay at Honeypot Cottage thank you it was very clean, quiet, well equipped and comfortable and only a 7 minute uphill walk from the centre of Ambleside In the winterdark months its worth taking a torch for the last 50 yards or so as there is no pavement The only slight niggle was having to call at the office to collectreturn the keys rather than having a key safe at the cottage but otherwise we were very pleased with everything.
Lovely clean and comfortable cottage Always nice to have private parking even if the access is a little tight. A key safe would be a help instead of having to trail into town to collect an return key.
A charming and comfortable house with lovely views to both front and back. Very peaceful, with a rural feel, though still close to Ambleside town centre. The garden is pleasant and well maintained, and the position of the house is great for hill walkers. We didn't need to use the car to reach the start point of any of our walks. The bathroom tap was dripping slightly throughout our stay.
Front door step could use a hand rail of some type Parking is uneven but is plenty. You need to drive up the road a little turn around and then the lock on steering allows a smooth entrance A drying room or possibly porch would be beneficial for walking gear A lockable ring for bike storage would be good Sharp knives for the kitchen wouldnt go amiss the ones there are blunt Otherwise the cottage is delightful and very comfortable. Take note that the walk up from the town is very steep called the struggle! loved our break thanks
Andrew
Very enjoyable stay. A lovely comfortable cottage with a well equipped kitchen although out of the four rings on the gas hob two were fine, One needed a match to light it and the other wasn't working. The Cottage is situated in an excellent location for exploring the Lake District with beautiful views to the front and back. It is only a 5 minute walk down into Ambleside where you can find local shops, Galleries, restaurants, Cafe's pubs and good bus connections to Windermere, Grassmere, Coniston, Keswick and Kendal. However the cottage is on a very steep slope 20 gradient so coming back up could be quite a struggle for some.
Enjoyed our stay, Especially loved the view. Bit of a hike up a steep hill to the property. The cottage could have been cleaner thick dust and cobwebs around fireplace, bookcase and on landing.
Honeypot Cottage is the perfect place to stay in Ambleside! We have had a long here and loved every moment of it. The cottage is cozy and very comfortable, and is perfectly located at the edge of town an easy 5 minute walk downtown, but also located at the top of a hill so that you get amazing views of the mountains all around. The yard is a wonderful space for kids to run around, or for dinner outside. Sykes Cottages was also very helpful any time we needed anything. Highly recommended!!
Steven
Been going to Honeypot for years , so that speaks for itself , only glitch the central heating timer was all to cock, the house was freezing when we got there, not the end of the world, did report it. Overall its a nice wee place.
Cecile
Comfortable cottage with nice views in a very quiet part of Ambleside, about 5 minutes walk from the center of the town. For people with mobility issues, note that it is up a short but very steep hill. Comfy beds and a very powerful shower were bliss after a day in the hills.
Lovely cottage , lovely location, ideal base for exploring the lakes and surrounding area. We had a lovely time. However...No complementry tea or coffee. We use Sykes cottages a lot and we always have tea ,coffe and milk supplied. Plus much more in most cases. So a bit mean on that point, otherwise very good. we usually bring some with us just in case, but this time didn't as we were sure there would be some. So had to walk down the hill to the shop and back up again It's a big hill so don't be so mean!!!
Patricia
Lovely well equipped cottage in a peaceful setting but within walking distance of the bustling town of Ambleside with its choices of pubs, restaurants and shops. The cottage was exceptionally clean and the beds were very comfortable. The property provides everything you would need for a selfcatering holiday and we didnt use the car all week with plenty of walks right from the door. We had a great holiday and will definitely book this cottage again in the future.
The house is well located hikes from the front door to Red Screes and the local fells, and also a short drive via 'The struggle' to Patterdale, and to Grasmere. Slight downside that should be mentioned is that the short walk from Ambleside involves 50m of steep assent ...
Philip
Its very important to mention the cottage is on a hill, the views are spectacular and the cottage is loverly, and centralised in the lakes,we come every year with you and pick a different cottage every time. Thank you again mr p neesam
Lovely place in great position above the village.
Stephen
Cottage was very comfortable, with powerful shower and bath. Well equipped kitchen met all our needs. Benefitted from off road parking. 10 minute walk from Ambleside, but expect a steep gradient.
The cottage had the potential to be lovely and was in a great location. However, the accommodation was not very clean large cobwebs and dirty cutlery in the drawer. There were not enough plates etc and very limited glassware which was clearly very old. No large glassespint glasses. All utensils were stuck in a wicker basket which made finding things difficult, especially when trying to find a sharp knife in it. One of the duvet covers had felt pen scribbles all over one side.
A comfortable quiet cottage with most of what we needed. We could not find the WiFi code as the folder in which it was contained was stored away. It would have helped to have a cleaning cloth for the bathroom. Blinds in the double bedroom would help with sleep in the morning. The garden was at the front of the property rather than at the back as expected from the listing.
Great holiday , couldnt fault cottage . Cosy , clean well equipped . Stunning views , even a deer in the back garden !
