Cringol Cottage Reviews

Kathryn
Beautifully presented cottage in a great location. Dedicated off road parking is a huge bonus in Ambleside. The cottage was very comfortable and had an abundance of kitchen equipment and crockery. Overall we enjoyed our stay in Cringol Cottage.
This our first time at Cringol Cottage and I hope not the last. We had a wonderful few days there over what was a very wet weekend. The cottage was warm and cosy and very comfortable. For two of us it was perfect. Plenty of seating and we could chat while one of us cooked in what was a very easy to use kitchen. One of us was very sound sensitive and was slightly affected by traffic in the morning but it was a fairly quiet time of year otherwise it was blissfully quiet. The bathroom was nice and spacious for such a small cottage and the shower was very good. The beds were very comfortable. If we had one issue it was a lack of drying space. The weather was so bad that venturing out into the fells was almost impossible but had we been inclined we would have been drenched. I suspect the bathroom would have been the only place to dry clothes and waterproofs. We had a wonderful time in what was such a great central location close to all we needed without having to use a car and the parking outside made life very easy and I have no hesitation recommending this cottage.

Lovely, clean and comfortable cottage in an ideal situ with added bonus of parking. Convenient for all the facilities in Ambleside and surrounding area with excellent bus access being a plus. Would highly recommend a stay at this beautiful well equipped cottage.
After visiting Ambleside for 40 years we have now stayed at Cringol cottage the last 3 times. We love the comfort & cleanliness of the cottage also the location, perfect for getting buses to all our favourite walks. Hopefully we will be back.

Lovely cottage perfect for our needs. Clean and wellstocked. Good communication and easy to access. Close to the centre. Only drawback in the warm weather with windows open that a busy road is outside so can be noisy, bring earplugs.
It was our first time staying in Ambleside and a what a lovely property to stay in. Its location is great for both a walk into town but also to the waterfront. The cottage itself was extremely clean and presented as listed. The only slight improvements would be the power of the shower although there are plans for a bathroom refurbishment in 2026 and an addition of some extra kitchen utensils such as bigger dishes. All in all a very positive stay at Cringol Cottage.
I thought the cottage was lovely. However the electric shower was non thermostatic and very difficult to control the temperature, when you get the new bathroom I'd definitely run a thermo mixer from the unvented cylinder. Also, there was no washing machine, it was my fault that I didn't check but as we stayed a week with a 3 year old was a bit annoyed. if I get a holiday in lakes again I would check , totally my fault for not checking . Overall if I came with just my wife for 3 days I'd come but longer with my daughter I'd look elsewhere. Thanks for a lovely cottage otherwise.
Lovely clean and beautiful cottage in a perfect location to tour around the ... Lovely clean and beautiful cottage in a perfect location to tour around the Lakes The cottage had everything we needed for our holiday Parking outside a big bonus
Kenneth
We really enjoyed our stay at Cringol Cottage, it is clean, comfortable and location would be difficult to beat. This is the second time we have stayed at the cottage and have already made one booking for next year so far. We would certainly recommend the cottage.
Jennifer
Lovely little cottage with everything we needed. Small but perfect for our needs. We especially liked the off road parking and the proximity to both the town centre and Waterhead. Loved the open plan layout and the tasteful decor. Everything seemed freshly decorated with nice carpets throughout and beautiful quality soft furnishings and bedding. Plenty of crockery, cutlery etc The cleanliness of the property was very high overall but just a slight niggle was the shower curtain, which was stained with mildew at the bottom, and the dish drainer in the kitchen which had grime and scum in the grooves and in the cutlery compartment. Lets just say I left the dish drainer cleaner than I found it. These were two very tiny things but I feel it should be mentioned as they are both easy to fix. We had a brilliant stay at Cringol Cottage and we would definitely stay again. Highly recommend it.
Lovely clean cozy cottage. Private parking is a bonus. Would book again.

We enjoyed our stay very much and had a very enjoyable holiday. The cottage is ideally located is clean, comfortable and we would recommend it to anyone. We would certainly stay there again. The only issue we had was regarding the instructions for setting of the heating at the end of our stay.

Everything was just as described. It was very clean and comfortable and the new windows and doors have really improved the comfort and quietness. Fully refurbished throughout it is a welcome place to stay after long walks on the fells. Very easy to access Ambleside as it is such a short stroll away. We have stayed here a few times now and will continue to book if it is available.

Clean homely accommodation. A little noisy from traffic as adjacent to one way system. Toaster didn't automatically pop so had to stay watching it. Faulty smoke alarm. Both issues reported on leaving. Overall though a nice well maintained accommodation
