This is our second stay at Cobblestone Cottage. It's a really handy place to stay in Ambleside and perfect for us as a couple. We really appreciated the Christmas decorations this time too! The only downsides were cleanliness we had to hoover as it was really dusty behind the bed and we have dust allergies and we would have liked a bigger duvet. Apart from those niggles we had a lovely stay and will be coming back next year!
We really loved this very cute and cosy little cottage in the middle of Ambleside and we will definitely be staying again! It's not very easy to find as it's off the street, thankfully a local taxi driver knew where it was. The only downside we found was that the drying function on the washing machine in the outside didn't seem to be working properly, but that was a minor quibble as overall the cottage was perfect for our anniversary.
Sofa not comfortable, no oven, bathroom basin partially blocked, top of stairs needs a safety gate or something similar, plus side very comfy bed, good location and nice and quiet. Tricky to find.
Rachel
Perfectly located. Only one glass. Hob is very slow Needs a deep clean.
Central location in town. Outside space is not realistic as a selling point. Described as 'romantic' but upstairs is 'pokey' Sofa needs changing. Cooking facilities are only really microwave heating hob and oven functions are slow.

The fact that we had to park in a car park away from the cottage would mean I wouldn't go back. The light going up the alleyway did not come on ,it was pitch black and I tripped up the stairs going up to cottage. It wasn't very private as a workshop is right next door. The cottage was clean and very nice and well located.
Claire
In need of a good clean. Property needed some basic redecorating and a good cleaner. Was dusty and had a musty smell. Windows filthy and someone had left their underwear in cupboard. The patio could have done with weeding too. Otherwise it was lovely functional cottage and nice and quiet. Great location in Ambleside. Comfortable bed, good storage and well equipped kitchen
A tidy, compact cottage right in the heart of Ambleside. Handy for shops, pubs, restaurants and the buses. Well equipped and clean.

A great location in the center of Ambleside, with everything you need for a relaxed visit. In fact I have already booked it again for Late June !!
If you want a good full nights sleep this property isnt for you boiler is situated opposite the bed and sounds like Norbot from Wallace and Gromit recharging. There also couldve been a little welcome pack with some tea, coffee and milk when youve had a long journey the last thing you want to do is have to go back out and buy milk. Just a suggestion. Overall good location and suitable for a short stay. Wouldnt necessarily say its worth the money.
Great location. Very clean and well appointed. Could do with instructions on how to use the hob and microwaveoven.

Cobblestone Cottage in Ambleside is quaint and cosy. Well maintained, equipped and clean. The bed was extremely comfortable with good pillows. Only two slight niggles. 1 the sofa, not very comfortable. 2 the duvet seemed to be a very small double and only just fit the bed. Location is perfect to spend a few days and not have to use your car. parking permit included. Restaurants, cafes and Traditional pubs abound. There's even a cinema. We spent 5 days there, walked to Stock Ghyll Force and had an amazing cream tea at The Force visitor centre with amazing views over Windermere. Caught the steamer to Bowness and visited The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction. And spent a day in Ambleside shopping in the various outdoor wear shops, unique gift shops and saw The Bridge House. I would definitely recommend Cobblestone Cottage as a base and wouldn't hesitate to book again should we ever return.
Could do with a new sofa no very comfortable apart from that we enjoyed the stay
A nice little property in a central position ideal for the town facilities. Unfortunately a downturn in the weather required us to use the central heating but this proved impossible and needed furtherbetter instructions.
It was quirky. ..quaint and comfortable..great location in town. I would recommend it to others but make the following house keeping suggestions. The kitchen knives are blunt and cheap..couldn't cut vegetables. The washing machine was full of old laundry and no detergents. The I fo books could do with updating also instructions on how to turn heater on...I couldn't work it out.

Nicely positioned in the centre of Ambleside, yet so quiet. We found the well equipped property an ideal base for our walking break. Some may find the size of the property a problem, this didn't bother us at all.
The location description needs to be updated as there are no blue doors but black. There were fragments of broken glass near the entrance door and one of the outside chairs was broken which was reported but nothing done. Visitors are asked to empty the bins on leaving into the council bin but where are the council bins?.
Cottage was lovely and exactly as advertised. It had everything we needed., with the location central to Ambleside and a short walk to anywhere in the village, just perfect. The only problem is the car parking,. Although the parking permit system is simple, we couldn't find a space in any of the 4 small local car parks that took the permit, but that's Ambleside in the summer for you...busy. The only car parking we could find was in the only car park in the village where the permit isn't allowed, so we had to pay 6 for the first day and then get up at 730am the following day to move the car before needing to pay again, but managed to find a bay in one of the allowed car parks, parking wasn't a problem afterwards as we didn't move the car!
Nice little cottage, well equipped and a pleasant little outside area for sipping a glass of wine in the evening. A great base to explore the area from. We particularly liked the good quality towels, the shower and the dishwasher. Our only negative was the staircase which was steep and had no banister. Also the top step was very close to the end of the bed making it dangerous if one needed the loo in the night. Perhaps a babysafety gate at the top may help?
Lovely little cottage. Nicely presented, clean and well maintained.
Chopping board missing
Stayed at Cobblestone Cottage for our honeymoon. Very cosy & comfortable Free parking pass provided.Nicely secluded, yet right in the centre of the Ambleside Town. All household supplies provided.Price very reasonable. Will definitely stay again.
Excellent cottage for 2. Great location in the centre of ambleside. Would definitely stay here again.

This property barely deserves the title cottage. We have more living accomodation in our motorhome. The cottage was also in need of a proper clean. Skirting boards and radiators clearly don't feature on the cleaners list. This accomodation is not suitable for anything more than a weekend and even that only at a push.
The property was as described and pictured, small but comfortable and very well located in Ambleside and for exploring the Lakes in general. The cooking facilities are minimal but we a couple managed to cook a few meals perfectly well on the hob and with the microwave, and the property comes supplied with plenty of cooking equipment and crockery. The bathroom appears newly refurbished and is smartly decorated with a powerful shower. It is a nice quiet retreat, away from traffic and though some noise can be heard from the workshop next door, they were very considerate to be quiet before 9am. Supplies at the property are very limited and, as a self catering property, we would have expected some basic self catering essentials to be provided such as cooking oil, salt and pepper, kitchen roll and toilet roll only 1 supplied so unfortunately we had to do a quick unplanned shop. There is a sticker on the boiler switch requesting the boiler is not switched off, however the radiator was on when we arrived July and the radiator valve seemingly not working. The timer switch is also very noisy, and given the boiler is positioned adjacent to the bed, is something to be aware of if you struggle to sleep with background noise, as we did. One thing that would have been really helpful to know in advance is that the house is down a small narrow street with limited parking. However there is a parking permit provided in the property that can be used for local car parks, and it is also valid in several other council car parks in towns nearby, which was very useful and saved us a lot of money.
A nice cottage in a great location but far to small for a couple wanting a weeks holiday in the lakes area. More suited to the one man and his dog scenario just wanting 1 or 2 nights before moving on. The bedroom is to small meaning that the bed is only 18 inches from the top stair. There is a significant risk to anyone using the bathroom at night.
It was a tiny but lovely little cottage, perfect for one or a couple. It was really quiet, in a little mews off a side street and you would never know it was there, whilst at the same time it was very central in the town centre and close to the bus stops, shops etc. It was a quaint little place with timber beams and had real character. Not much in the way of 'white goods' in the kitchen but you can make do. Overall I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely choose it again.

The interior of the cottage is beginning to look tired, especially in the kitchen, cabinets that do not shut, poorly fitted oven, and the shower needs improving, shower doors fail to meet and close properly, we first visited 8 years ago and it has deteriorated over the years, small amount of investment would make a lot of difference
The cottage was clean and tidy but there were a small number of issues. There were no dishwasher tablets, no scouring pad for washing up and no black plastic bags we were asked to put the bed linen in one of these but couldn't find any. Similarly, there was only a single toilet left and many of the light fitting did not have bulbs in them. These are items we would not be expected to take with us and have not needed to on numerous visits to the Lakes on previous occasions when we have stayed in similar accommodation.
