Although the property had been cleaned, there was a considerable amount of dust everywhere. The property has a BT TV box, just a pity there were no batteries in the remote. There is no heating in the downstairs utility toilet, which is not ideal for frosty mornings and evenings. The upstairs shower room is very small with no w.c., although there is a fully fitted bathroom. The toilet seat was very loose and dangerous, thankfully Lakelovers dealt with it efficiently. I am just surprised that the cleaner did not report the defect when the property was cleaned, you must have a reporting procedure for defects the cleaners find. With the steep front steps I would not recommend this property for people with mobility issues. Overall, we were disappointed in this property and won't be booking it again.
This was our second stay at this lovely cosy cottage and we're already looking at booking a 3rd holiday here. It's warm, spacious for 3 couples, the beds are comfortable, the kitchen is very well equipped, complimentary items were appreciated e.g. tea, coffee, dishwasher and washing machine tablets, there is free street parking available, it's just a short stroll into Ambleside town and there are lovely walks from the doorstep. What more could you want for a winter stay in the Lakes?! We only have a couple of minus comments.... The black mould in the bathrooms really does need attention. Also there was no attempt to make the cottage look festive, even though it was a week before Christmas. However, these really didn't distract from our stay, Uldale is a wonderful base for a Lake District holiday.
This property ticked a lot of boxes for us great location, cosy lounge, spacious kitchen and diner, good size bathroom, nice safe garden for the dog and tremendous views. Our only negatives was that the settees were less comfortable and the shower room was a little small.
Clean, comfortable accommodation. Perfect location for us and our wee old dog. Having the back garden was ideal and the views all added to a relaxing even with all the walking few days away. Nice touch with the dogs bowls incase you forget to bring your dogs own ones. Plenty crockery and utensils.

A beautiful, spacious house in a quiet corner of Ambleside. Generous garden which we, and our dog, enjoyed spending plenty of time in.

Uldale was a lovely place to stay whilst we were in Ambleside. Would recommend to others.
Really comfortable, perfectly located holiday cottage. Great choice of outdoor seating areas. Recommended.
Lovely property in an excellent location
A lovely week in Uldale. An ideal location, everything in walking distance but not on a main road or any noise from town. Walks up Loughrigg, Wansfell or down to the lake without the need to drive anywhere. Uldale was well equipped, lovely front and back gardens and dog friendly. We would thoroughly recommend this property and all the booking process, etc was easy
The stay was great, our dogs absolutely adored it, we had everything we needed
A very pleasant stay, good amenities. Well stocked kitchen. Very local to attractions. Comfortable home from home in a quiet neighbourhood. Very close to local shopshigh street within walking distance. Windermere is walking distance although we did not do this.
Lovely cottage. Fantastic views. Perfect location for short walk to Ambleside town. Plus easy access to great walks in the area.
Weve stayed in Uldale for many years, previously under Lakelovers. Always found it clean, although needing some updating and always enjoyed our stay. But found that, this time, the cleanliness was not up to standard. There was a strong smell of dogs and a lot of pet hairs, not sure if dogs were allowed before, which in previous stays had not noticed. The floor and walls around back door were dirty. I swept under the dining table and around the window area, there was a lot of dust and hairs, not sure last time it was cleaned.
A really lovely house generally. Great location. Could do with providing hand soap & also duvet covers that actually fit the duvet. I kept getting my feet stuck in the excess material. Blackout blinds or curtains for the front bedrooms would be good to block out the very bright light of the street lamp. A hand towel would also be useful for the downstairs wc.
As frequent visitors to Ambleside weve been looking for our ideal dog friendly spot and this was it! Location was just far enough away from the one way system and as a result really quiet! Enclosed rear garden for the dog and plenty of room for us! It was that good Ive already booked again for next year!
This was our 3rd stay at Uldale, it is our 1st choice of holiday home if we stay in Ambleside. Everything about the place suites our needs down to the ground. Nice and quiet as it's away from the centre but only a short walk to get to all the ameinities.

Great holiday, such a cosy cottage in the perfect position to enjoy a pre Christmas break with friends. Uldale was just right for 3 couples and a dog. In fact it was so good that, before the end of the holiday, we booked again for next year. The Sykes team was also very good. The customer service staff were professional and helpful, arranging for the maintenance team to pop out the same day to fix a couple of little problems. All round a fab stay!
Fantastic, we've done them all in Ambleside and finally found our dog friendly haven centrally based. So good we've booked again for next year. Its a great property and the photos don't do it justice on the Web. A few very minor maintenance jobs but the housekeeping and cleaning is superb.

Lovely house, great location, comfortable throughout, we had a great stay at uldale, the only negatives are, that the garden could do with a tidy, overgrown bushes, just could be a lot neater, only had 3 drinking tumbles and 3 wine glasses, the carpet in the lounge, could do with replacing, as there is a tear, which will only get worse, but all in all, lovely stay
Lovely, comfortable and well equipped house in a fantastic location for exploring everything Ambleside and Windermere lake has to offer. Looking forward to returning!

A really lovely cottage. We were 5 adults and a dog found the house to be a great size for all of us and very comfortable. Lovely to have an enclosed garden for the dog and enjoyed by us too. We appreciated the extras washer tabs, dish washer tabs, dish cloths etc. Other reviews mentioned no extras such as salt etc good to know in advance and not a problem as we took our own supplies. The cottage is in a good location for walks out and handy for the shops. We barely used our car during our stay. We would recommend the cottage.
The house was very comfortable and warm. We felt it was a shame that condiments like salt and pepper were not provided. A small but useful thing to do. Also there were not enough toilet rolls. Again such a small but important factor. However, the house is very well situated and within walking distance of the shops and pubs of Ambleside.
I will revise this listing once a dispute is resolved. An old chair with existing damage gave way during our stay. Luckily this happened when moving the chair, and not sitting on it as it is likely giving it's proximity to the fireplace injury may have occurred. On inspection, the chair leg has previously broken and had been stuck together with pins. Photographs have been shared with Sykes, however 90 has been taken from me. I have shared the photographs and respect a refund.
The house was very satisfactory and well equipped but the garden was scruffy and the fact that the lawn was uncut is unacceptable. It was good weather but we did not want to sit in the garden because of this.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at uldale. The location was superb and the cottage was spotless. Beds so comfortable. Lovely stay in a beautiful setting. Will definitely be back again. Thanks so much x
This is an absolute gem of a cottage

Had a lovely couple of nights, very handy for me and my dog to walk into town. Very good facilities and well stocked with utensils. Nice secure rear garden.
Our second visit to Uldale, lovely property and extremly claen and well presented. Bit of a drip on the hot tap in the kitchen and it seemed a wee bit cooler in the house than last year, maybe it's just us getting a year older! I would have no hesitation recommending Uldale to friends or family.
Love the lakes will definitely be back the cottage was lovely to maybe get some new mattresses and more pillows
We had a very enjoyable stay in Uldale, we will return. The only reason for not giving 5 stars for comfort and maintenance is that the two double mattress could do with replacing and the toilet seat in the bathroom needs adjustment. Apparently this has been reported before.
Jennifer
Lovely house, ideally situated very close to the shops and the climbing wall. Thank you for a great stay.

The cottage was in a great place for us to walk from and we loved being back in the Lake District. Uldale was very comfortable and we would recommend staying there. We have a few comments but none of which would impact us booking again. 1. After torrential rain and then getting showers the back garden flooded from the drains we did email to advise but no reply 2. The kitchen tap is dripping again we did email 3. Both double beds are not as comfortable as the single beds. We ended up staying in the smaller double bedroom 4. Seat pads for the wooden kitchen seats would have been appreciated 5. The back garden was over grown and needs some attention
We loved the cottage and found it had everything we needed. Very convenient location.
