The Miller Reviews

Property is in a great location just a short walk from Ambleside and very spacious with large bedrooms, 2 of which are ensuite, and large living area with a well equipped kitchen upstairs. Didnt bother us, but bear in mind the property is at the top of a steep hill if walking from Ambleside. The owners clearly look after the apartment but are let down by the maintenancecleaning. Docked a star as was not a clean apartment and no cleaning products left anywhere to clean it. The was no soap or towels in upstairs toilet or indeed any of the bathroom toilets and the main bedroom ensuite had a very badly peeling ceiling and the door was going yellow. The cleaning was very hit and miss with large clumps of hair in the main bedroom ensuite, dirty I think blown windows in living area and the kitchen kettle had green mould covering half the inside bottom plate. Wed already read that the allocated parking spot was very tight but we easily got our large SUV in, however it was outside the fire escape of another unit and blocked their escape route, so we moved to the visitor spot. A great apartment but could be fantastic with better cleaningmaintenance.
Lovely spacious flat in Ambleside, close to the town centre and a couple of great traditional pubs. Plenty of walking routes from the flat. Comfortable, clean and with excellent facilities.
Lovely big 2 storey flat with almost everything you need for a comfortable stay. Some soap in each of the bathrooms would be appreciated and the upstairs loo didn't flush.
I have stayed In the Falls many times, The Miller Is a first floor Duplex appartment, spacious bedrooms, large bathrooms, clean and powerfull shower in the main bedroom, I did not use the others all on the lower floor, Climd the stairs to find the fully equiped kitchen and the ample sized living room, only downside Is the TV Is a bit small for the ones of us who's vision is not great. Parking, especially if you have a large SUV is tight, I had to use the Visitors spot , Unfortunatelly another appartment was having work done and a balcony so the scafolding went up the day after I had parked and I could not move my car for a week as the workmen had left by 4 30 pm and i need assistance to guide me In and out so I was trapped In Ambleside, luckly you are In the heart of the lakes so lots of Fells to walk or nice places to cycle to, The Village is a 5 min walk away 10 on the way back as you are going up a steep hill.. PS The washer and the Dryer are in the Family bathroom behind a cupboard and you also get a Loo upstairs to save the walk down lol, Great place go and have fun

Comfortable and very spacious accommodation. Generally clean but could do with a good extra clean through. Maintenance in the property could do with a look at front door lock is a real issue as not easy to unlock and windows are unclean and some of the units have blown. Extra touches such as hand soap in bathrooms and toilet and towel in toilet as well as somewhere to hang towels near showerbath would be good. Torch in living room is essential as we had power cut when upstairs and making our way downstairs in the dark was a bit precarious. Overall though a lovely property in a lovely place. Ambleside is a lovely place to stay as easy access to other places by bus or car.
Fabulous location. Great facilities and everything you need.
Denise
Excellent accommodation in lovely location near waterfall. Well equipped, clean and comfortable. Will definitely return.

We were a party of five at various ages 22 73. One problem we had was the walk down and back into the town for one of us because of the inclines but that was our problem and nothing to do with the property. Probably should have checked the reviews and location a little better, however we didn't let this spoil anything as we just took it very slowly and it was always easier coming back after a glass of wine!! Another slight problem was finding the actual property. It was quite difficult once we came off the road although we followed the directions given we had to ask directions and drive around a few times. The property is definitely home from home. It is absolutely immaculate and really has everything anyone could need and more. I cannot recommend The Miller highly enough and would definitely go back despite our couple of hiccups.

The property was very clean and the bedrooms were very comfortable. The kitchen was well appointed. We had trouble finding the property access took a bit of manoeuvring. Loved the rushing stream but it was a bit dark inside the house. Four out of ten of the LED lights were out in the living room ceiling. We were puzzled by the different containers for garbage under the kitchen counter and there were no instructions as to the recycling rules there. Also no liner bags to start us off. We didnt use the containers but collected our rubbish in bags of our own.
Rosemarie
A lovely property, clean, comfortable and well equipped. In an ideal location to explore the surrounding area.
Very comfortable beds. Well equipped kitchen. We cooked for ourselves every night and found everything we needed. Plenty's of space for 6 of us
The property is clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are super and the hot water is in abundance. showers and baths were wonderful. The separate kitchen is very well kitted. The dishwasher and tumble dryer were appreciated. It was not the easiest to find in the dark after a long and tiring journey, but it is located just minutes from the town centre with oodles of eating and drinking establishments. We were not in great need of a TV, but couldn't work it to get and live programmes. There is plenty of seating in the loungediner and the bedrooms. We loved our stay and would recommend it for a central place from which to explore.
Lovely spacious apartment tastefully decorated and fitted out to an extremely high standard. Nicely located by Stock Ghyll Force to both see and hear the water rushing by. The apartment was not easy to find for the first time on a dark rainy evening. The allocated parking bay was difficult to access in a large car.
Property was comfortable and the kitchen contained most things you would need. Plenty of bathrooms to go round. Nice fresh bedding. The sound of the nearby stream was relaxing. A welcome pack such as milk in the fridge would be nice. Some instructions for the dishwasher would be useful. Couple of things to point out, the location is very steep. The allocated parking space was VERY difficult to get in to. It is definitely not a leisurely walk to the centre of town, the return journey is particularly strenuous.

Had a lovely stay thank you beds super comfy very well equipped kitchen key safe worked well recycling is a bit of a nightmare but we got there in the end bath and showers were fab, esp after some very wet andor long days out walking . ....but did want to let you know about a couple of things... 1. The light above the hob doesn't seem to work... extraction fan part does tho
The loo seat in the main bathroom was broken. Some instructions on the cookerdishwashermicrowave would be helpful.
I will definitely be returning to The Falls. I simply loved the sound of Stock Ghyll in the background. Value for money. Ideal to for walks and Ambleside shopping. My only suggestion is that the parking space for number 17 is moved, as it is a little awkward to access. Also we could've done with 2 sets of keys to the property. Thank you.
Overall, the property is well equipped and comfortable. The apartment is only a short walk from the centre of Ambleside, from where you can take the bus or boat to other places in the Lakes. There were a few things that others had already reported in the guest book in the property. It's shame that these points don't seem to have been acted upon. 1. The windows really were filthy. There weren't just a few marks here and there. They looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a long time. 2. There was a request to separate rubbish and multiple bins were provided in the kitchen, but how should we know what bins there are and what goes in each bin? I ended up taking a photo of the information in the Refuse Centre and using that as a point of reference. This point would be rectified quickly and easily if there were a copy of the overview from the Refuse Centre in the kitchen. 3. In a property that has 3 bedrooms, it's very likely that there are more than 2 adults. Having a second set of keys would therefore be very useful. We managed with the single set provided, but we always had to think ahead to work out who should take the keys.
Lovely half term break in one of our favourite Lake District towns. The flat really added to our experience cosy, warm, well fitted out the owners have evidently put a lot of care and love into refurbishing it to a high standard. Great location and views too. Many thanks
We enjoyed our stay despite a couple of little niggles which were both sorted out promptly by Heart of the Lakes. The Miller was spacious, comfortable and handy for local amenities. Recommended.
Kathryn
We had a lovely holiday. Perfect location. Really comfy beds and loads of space. Only suggestion would be maybe more comfy sofas. They are quite low and not really big enough. Really good to have dedicated parking space but be aware it is very tight esp. for bigger cars. Overall, excellent experience. Would definitely stay here again.
It was difficult to find the Apartment. Your instructions need to be revised for future visitors.
Lovely property in good position despite the hill! The maps and books were very useful and the beds really comfy. Slight grumbles involved only having 5 forks in drawer and some of the pans not working on the induction hob as they were broken. Also considering the fact that extra time is allowed for cleaning the kitchen had loads of cobwebs, there were crumbs on lounge carpet and the balcony hadn't been touched. We really enjoyed our week and would love to return at some point
Excellent location beautiful setting very quiet and peaceful alongside river bank. Perfect walking distance to Ambleside .Very homely and well equipped duplex apartment with everything you need.
