The location puts you a short walk from Waterhead and 15 minutes on foot from Ambleside centre. Bus stops and the boat pier sit right outside. You can explore Grasmere (4. 4 miles) and Windermere town (4. 7 miles) easily from here.

Romney Grange Reviews

Romney Grange was perfectly situated for exploring, a well appointed flat, cosy with a lovely view of the lake. We normally try to stay in Ambleside, this was quieter but still within striking distance a 10 minute walk of central Ambleside. An extra feature of our stay was that the owner was in touch during our stay to check all was well it was. If you walk to the cafe at the cafe at Troutbeck check it is open before you set off!!

We had a lovely time at Mike's apartment. The view from the living roombalcony are amazing. The apartment is very clean and warm. And is in an ideal location for walks straight from the door or a short stroll to Ambleside for the shops. There are addiitional amazing views of Lake Windermere and beyond from the garden terrace at the rear of Romney Grange. Mike the owner was in contact with us throughout our booking and his support and assistance was very much appreciated. We will definitely be returning to this apartment again. Andrew, Karen and Ian.

Where do I start with a review of 16 Romney Grange in Ambleside It has the most stunning views from the balcony of Lake Windermere. The place is a great base to discover the area. The pristine 2 bedroom apartment is set in beautiful, well maintained grounds, is spacious & has an en suite & further large bathroom, kitchen, dining & lounge area. There is an added bonus of a dedicated parking space, lift & stairs upto the 2nd floor. The owner, Mike was in touch with us to make sure everything was ok. Would definitely return.
Excellent apartment with views over lake windermere. There's a lift andor stairs to the apartment and a dedicated parking lot. Second time we've stayed here and hopefully a return in the not too distant future
This was our second holiday in the Romney Grange apartment. We returned because of the wonderful experience we had during our first visit in 2023, and due to its perfect location within the Lake District. The apartment was in top condition and with the upgraded ensuite bathroom, it made it feel extremely luxurious. We wouldn't hesitate to return to the same property next time we visit the Lake District.
Our second stay and it will not be our last. Lovely apartment in a great location. We have no hesitation in recommending this property.

Recently returned from a weeks stay at Romney Grange, 4 adults, 2 were oap's & lift was a bonus for them. We had a great time in this beautiful warm welcoming, clean, spacious apartment with the best view of lake Windermere. Apartment had everything we needed for our stay. Mike & Jenny were on hand via telephone if we needed anything. Apartment is in a fantastic location to explore Ambleside, Windermere, Bowness & Grasmere without using the car as bus stops right outside. Car in secure undercover parking bay. The view that greets you as you enter the apartment is beautiful. The apartment was spotlessly clean and well cared for , the kitchen contained everything we needed and more. Mike was in touch to ensure that everything was ok , which was reassuring. Books , playing cards and maps of local walks were a bonus. It was a home from home and we look forward to staying again soon.

An outstanding property with the most amazing view! The apartment was spotlessly clean on arrival. It has a very well equipped kitchen and a good variety of games, dvd's and books at your disposal if you can be torn away from the balcony and the stunning views!. Spacious, light and airy, tastefully decorated throughout and with a view that puts a smile on your face, a spring in your step and joy in your heart every time you look! A wonderful place to relax and recharge. What more could you ask for?!
One of the nicest apartments we have stayed in. Great position overlooking Lake Windermere. Sit on the balcony just people watching and the activity on the lake. Everything you need is in the apartment. A well set out kitchen and two bathrooms made life easy. Overall a great holiday
The apartment was nothing short of amazing. All the facilities were of the highest standard, the apartment was very spacious for a family of 4, comfortable, clean and with two bathrooms, one on suite. The views overlooking the lake are breath taking and the little balcony was perfect for enjoying a drink. Ambleside is one of nicest towns in the Lake District, and it's only a 1015 minute walk from the apartment. There is nothing negative to say about the accommodation and our stay.
An amazing flat. Really luxurious and spacious. Had everything we needed. Fab bathrooms and a generous sized kitchen. Great to have the parking space and lift. Right by the lake and a short walk into Ambleside. We did some lovely walks from the flat and took the ferry across to Wray Castle for a lovely walk. Really helpful interaction with Mike owner. But the best big was the stunning view from the balcony in the living room directly to the lake. We all loved it!

Always a pleasure to stay here please dont ever get rid of the bucket chair or if you do, please replace it with another. I have mobility difficulties and its the only chair I can sit in the sofas are lovely but unfortunately far too low and squashy for me. Over the last decade we have stayed many times at 16 Romney Grange often for stays of two or three weeks. Affording amazing views from the lounge and dining area, the apartment is beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean, thanks to an amazing housecleaner, and very wellmaintained with everything a holiday maker could ever need. The kitchen is completely stocked with high quality dishes, glassware and cookware. Over the years we have noted that every effort has been made to keep things fresh and updated. In our experience you not find a bettermaintained or more pleasant rental property in the Lakes.

A beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean apartment in a wonderful position. Nearby hotels provided great food options. As we had travelled from Dorset, a small basic welcome pack containing milk would have been the icing on the cake.

We spent a whole week in this accommodation and me and my family had a really great time. Its like home away from home. They have everything you need. Its the perfect location if you want to explore Lake District. My children told us that they want us to go back there again. The view from the balcony is stunning. You dont even need to go out if you feel like just relaxing as you already have a great view from the balcony. It took me a while from giving feedback as I got really busy after coming back from holiday but I really wanted to share our experience and not miss this opportunity of complimenting this property accommodation.

Everything the listing promised, and more. A delightful home from home, with luxury fittings, comfy beds and a view which did not disappoint. The weather was horrible over the February break, but it didnt matter when we had such a cosy space to come back to each day. Mike, the owner, couldnt have been more welcoming. We were in the same apartment two years ago and had booked for last year. Unfortunately illness forced us to reschedule to this year. Again everything was excellent so much so that we booked up for 2022 yesterday when we got home! The location in our opinion is very good and the view from Apartment 16 must be one of the best in the Lake District and with bus stops and the pier just outside alternative travel other the car is readily available for days out
