Old Wool Loft Reviews

We liked the position of the cottage Easy to park to unload and then drop the car into a car park. I did worry we might hear street noise, but it was absolutely fine. The apartment was lovely and warm, the kitchen was well equipped, and the bed was comfortable. Loved the terrace, shame it rained!

A great location right in the heart of Ambleside, very clean just the ticket for a short stay in the lakes.

Had a fab stay. Lovely place, in a great location right in the centre of Ambleside. Very comfortable bed with great facilities. The stairs leading up to the property could do with some lighting as very dark at night.

Wonderful short stay in the Old Wool Loft. Location fantastic right in the centre of Ambleside. Property well equipped and clean, very comfortable bed and hot powerful shower. Will definitely stay again
Only fault would be lack of light on the steep steps from road. These can be very slippy when wet, may also benefit from handrail either side.
The Old Wool Loft is a very clean and comfortable stay with a lovely bed and very nice living area. It's location in Ambleside is perfect for Lakeland adventures and for popping in to do a little shop. The kitchen needs to be better stocked, as there was only three of everything which meant we were constantly having to wash up. And the main, as comfy as it is, has a huge gap between the mattress and headboard so the pillows fall down it. The outdoors area could also do with a sort out as water does not drain properly off the roof. These were relatively small issues and overall we loved our stay here.
We had a lovely holiday at Old Wool Loft and wish we couldve stayed longer. It was the perfect size and ideal location. As we are expecting a baby, we cant wait to come back again with our new arrival! Have already recommended to family and friends and hoping to book up again very soon!
Great location & had everything we needed for our short stay. Need to refit the handrail for staircase down to pavement. Short guide on how to work TV would be helpful. Also a map showing the car parks the permit can be used in.
The external area was completely unusable. It was filthy, the drains were blocked, abandoned sand bags, wires hanging out, moss and slime on the stairs, furniture rotten. We booked because we have a dog so external was important but I couldn't let him use it. Inside was absolutely filthy. Food debris all over the sofa, the loo was covered in filth, oven had discarded food and oil, walls grotty, dead flies on window bottoms, bed dusty and covered in hair, discarded tissues under the bed. Staff did attend and were equally as appalled, we then went out whilst housekeeping attended. On my return I cleaned the loo myself. I paid 460 for 2 nights and we were compensated but really I shouldn't of accepted it, I was just away and wanted to relax. This flat needs managing properly. It wasn't worth the money at all. Sykes apologise lots, but dont do much when they attempt to put it right. We donated the prosecco and chocs to the volunteers at oxfam.
Lovely apartment. Very clean and comfortable. Everything you need. Outside area could do with a little TLC but was ok. We re booked for next year so yes would definitely recommend Maz n Keith Blackpool

Great stay, apartment is fantastic, very clean and a perfect location. The parking permit worked brilliantly and was less than a 5 minute walk away. The only let down is the balcony, it has so much potential but its currently dirty and furniture not useable. I did however visit in March and had unusually good weather for this time of year, would have been great to be able to sit out. Currently its the only thing stopping a 5 star review.

Upon arrival it was clear that the property had not been properly cleaned and that the previous occupant had left it filthy. Emergency cleaners were called and we had to fumigate to try and erase the smell of wet dog. The outside, supposedly romantic terrace, was a disgrace and unusable. Soiled, soaking furniture. It had clearly not been maintained for a very long time. Inside, as well as the filthy conditions, there were the following issues Broken and dirty crockeryutensils Scalding hot water temperature switch broken which was dangerous Broken bedside light stained chaises longue dead flies on all window ledges dog hair cover the settee cigarette butts on floor and table outside moss growing on outside chairs full rubbish bags on terrace leaking old milk This was described as luxury but it was far from it. Substandard bedding and towels does not equal luxury. Such a shame as with some TLC this could be so much better.
We honestly loved the stay, the location and the apartment was amazing. The only thing letting it down was the cleanliness, we found 2 random men's boxers in different locations and the outdoor patio smelt of urine for the first couple of days.
We had a wonderful time at the Old Wool Loft, very clean and comfortable, right in the middle of town, great location for shops, pubs, restaurants etc. The parking permit was a huge bonus as was the lights on the stairs leading from the street. There was little to be negative about but the roof terrace could do with a tidy up as the patches of astro turf made it look messy. The external door at street level could do with being replacedrepaired as it is rotten in places which could lead to security implications in the future. I will definately make the Old Wool Loft my go to for accommodation in Ambleside again. I would certainly recommend this property. Thank you.
This made for a perfect base! Luxurious yet practical. Literally had everything you could want comfy bed, gorgeous bath, cosy living space, massive TV, fully functioning kitchen, great bathroom. The parking permit was ideal. Its in the heart of it all and near all the great pubs and restaurants. Loads of space to dry clothes and boots after walks. We will certainly be back to this gem!
Lovely stay at the old wool loft. Very comfortable and ideally positioned right in the heart of Ambleside. The parking permit was a great bonus. From previous experience with these cottages weve learnt to take the basics. Toilet roll. Hand wash, washing up liquid, logs etc as you will only get enough for the first day! It rained every day so we didnt sit out on the balcony but it is definitely in need of some tlc but it wouldnt put me off booking again.
The Wool Loft is lovely, clean and welcoming. It's very private although near all the eateries and shops. It's furnished very well with lots of different lighting to set the mood, the corner sofa is clean and comfortable. The bed is huge and felt like I was sleeping in a cloud, with a beautiful free standing mirror that bounced light around the room. Loved the freestanding bath in the bedroom, lovely touch. The rooftop garden space was great to sit and relax albeit still winter. All in all we had a perfect weekend and there are plenty of walks from the doorstep too.
This was listed as luxury accommodation. Sadly the dishwasher was broken and despite several requests to have it fixed prior to Christmas Day it wasnt. The two main lights in the lounge didnt work and were missing bulbs. Bathroom door handle broken. I will be issuing a small claim to claim some funds back as it ruined Christmas and wasnt as described. The fire door was also filthy as was the terrace which required cleaning and was an extreme hazard. My partner cried for days.
Hi absolutely loved the property. However whoever is doing the cleaning isn't making a good job. The shower door sliding section was full of dirt as was the shampoo soap holder. Behind the sofa in the corner was thick of dust and cobwebs. Several of the pans had been put away dirty along with some of the cutlery. The outside patio area is desperately in need of jet washing along with the stairs to front gate as they are covered in green moss , making it slippy. I'm aware this isn't the owners fault , but think they should be made away of this. I took photos of the mentioned issues if you require them forwarded. Look forward to hearing from you.
Super location and very cosy apartment. We were disappointed on arrival to find an almost empty liquid hand wash which had some water added. Similar situation with washing up liquid. We had to buy both ourselves. Apartment was clean although shower seal needs done with mould remover. Patio has some slippy mould and paintwork needs refreshed. Pleased to have a few logs for the wood burner. Weve used this apartment before and someone has removed the clothes airer which we used for wet weather clothes. Would be good to replace this. Super wee apartment that just needs some refreshing.
Gorgeous apartment in the centre of the town. Really lovely and set up with all you will need for your stay. Would definitely recommend
Very good apartment in a very central location but in need of repainting throughout the apartment and also the outside terrace could do with getting rid of the few bits of astra turf and repainted to freshen it up. For a 1000 a week in August I would expect that kind of re investment. Lakelovers will probably say that my comments will be passed to the owner but going by previous reviews I doubt anything will happen. On a separate note thanks to the maintenance guy who came round in 25 minutes when we couldn't get back in after a piece of clothing got stuck in door lock.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at Old wool loft. The location is excellent. I agree with some of the other reviews around sweeping the patio area, and new cushions on the sofa doesnt cost much to refresh those. It would be good if hand soap was provided in the bathroom as a basic need, we had to go out to get our own of everything, washing liquid, kitchen roll, salt and pepper. These are things that generally come as standard in other lake lovers properties that weve stayed in over the years. We were fortunate to have excellent weather all week so really enjoyed using the patio furniture in the evening and people watching from the balcony. The bed was huge and comfortable. The bedroom being in the loft does get very hot, luckily wed brought our own fan which was a godsend.
We had a great week.
Weve just had a fantastic week staying at the Old Wool Loft, helped by amazing weather and some really great walks. The property is perfectly located in the centre of Ambleside and is very comfortable. Yes, the outside area could do with a sweep and a bit of tlc, and a few additional items of crockery and cutlery would be nice, but these are minor quibbles. Overall, a great property in a superb location.
The location of old wool loft is perfect, central to everything. It had all the facilities we needed for 2 young people and a dog. It was clean and tidy. It does have a parking permit for 3 local car parks and a 1hr parking disc to allow unloading. This was really helpful, but from the information and previous reviews to me it was not clear if parking was included. The outside area needs a sweep that is our only negative. Looking to book again for next year
Very well appointed Very convenient Very stylish Plenty hot water when required Good parking arrangements Could not get the heating to come on. The instructions showed a button to press but this did not work Patio area is a nice feature but could do with a spruce up Bin was full when we arrived and was even fuller when we left
We have used this apartment several times because of its location and the fact it is dog friendly. However the serious lack of investment shows. On arrival the balcony area where you enter was filthy. We swept the worst of it ourselves. The actual apartment was clean apart from the velux windows which were extremely dirty. They are easy to reach and swivel in for cleaning so theres no excuse. The kitchen is very poorly equipped. There are no side plates so we ate our toast from bowls. We reported this several months ago and it is no better. The can opener is in the drawer in bits. The pots are in a shocking state and should be thrown out. Its such a shame because a few hundred pounds of investment would make such a difference. As it stands it is definitely not a gold standard property. Numerous other people have raised the same issues. The positives are its cosy, the shower is decent and the bed is comfy. Such a shame about the rest.
When we first arrived we were very disappointed to find the property had not been cleaned for us, black bin liner greeted us when we opened the door, and it was clear that the property had not been cleaned. I rang lake lovers and spoke to Graham, who sorted this out for us and had a cleaner on site within the hour, a further hour later we were back in the property which was fresh and clean. The property is well furnished and very comfortable, location was spot on for us for our short break, a very enjoyable break and we would definitely come back some time in the future.
Fab location right in the centre of Ambleside, the property has everything you need for a lovely stay. Warm, cosy and very comfortable. Would definitely recommend
Stuart
Attention to detail needed, there was a smell to the property when we arrived, the plug in air freshener was empty, why wasnt it checkedreplaced? no cutlery, knife, fork or spoons available either. The toilet bush was broke and needs replacing, external windows were dirty and need cleaning, pans need replacing as worn out, numerous scuffs and finger prints on the walls both upstairs and downstairs, needs painting There is a big crack above the toilet, why has that not need filled and re painted, spot light in the bedroom falling out, again needs sorting out. This is a great apartment in a good location that is let down by the cleaningmaintenance team not looking close enough and seeing the items mentioned above, give the place some TLC it deserves it.
Lovely place. Severe shortage of crockery and cutlery. Definitely not enough to warrant a dishwasher. Embarrassing when not enough plates when we had visitors. The freezer does not work. It allowed frozen food to thaw.
