Lovely property with great location. Found the place suited our needs very well. My main suggestion for improvement would be to reduce the soft furnishings and decorative pieces too many cushions etc making the place unnecessarily cluttered. Hope to return one day

A lovely little cottage. Close to town but not noisy.They have made maximum use of available space. Very clean probably the cleanest holiday property I have rented. Very well equiped . The only recommendations I can make for this cottage would be a small stair rail on both sides rather than just one. Also i couldn't find any place mats. We had a lovely break despite the weather.

Lovely cottage, tastefully renovated with all comforts considered. The position in the middle of Ambleside is brilliant, close to shops and restaurants. The bus service in the area is amazing, we parked our car and didn't use it for the week , but got out and about very easily. Parking was free and once we found a spot the car stayed in the same place. We would most definitely recommend both the cottage and the area to a wide variety of ages.

We had a lovely time at the Old Toffee Shop. It is a beautiful, cosy, well appointedmaintained and delightful property. It is ideally situated for all the local restaurants, shops and walking. We have stayed at other properties owned by the people who own the Old Toffee Shop and they are kind and helpful if you have any queries. Thank you to Jo and the team!

My husband and I absolutely loved our stay here in the Old Toffee Shop. The cottage was beautifully furnished and everything was just lovely. The kitchen was well equipped and there was a loaf of bread, butter, milk, teabags, coffee , biscuits and orange juice provided which I thought was a very nice gesture. When we arrived we parked right outside the cottage for an hour to unload our luggage and then moved it to a car park just around the corner using the parking permits provided. It was a great being located right in the heart of Ambleside. Shops, restaurants, cafes, and pubs were right on the doorstep. We did 6 different walks, in the week and 3 of these started in Ambleside. The other 3 were just a short drive away and we used the parking permit there too which was a bonus. The log burner was lovely to use and we purchased logs and fire lighters from the petrol station just up the road. We will definitely be staying here again in the future.

This property was a lovely surprise, as it is so much bigger than it looks. The furnishings and fittings are of the highest standard, and it is presented with real flair. The central location is a real bonus, with Church Street amazingly quiet given its location.

First class accommodation in Ambleside centre, close to bus services for all over The Lake District.

Our second stay and hopefully we will be booking a third for next year. A fantastic property in the heart of Ambleside. Very comfortable. Beautifully presented. The welcome pack plus the slippers are all so thoughtful. Would definitely recommend this the anyone but not in the weeks we want to book!

Old Toffee Shop is beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. It is well equipped and has extremely comfortable beds! The cottage is in an excellent situation in the centre of Ambleside, perfect for walking to the many pubs, restaurants and shops. The lakeside and boats are in easy reach too. The generous welcome pack is an added bonus. I highly recommend Old Toffee Shop for a perfect stay.

Out 2nd stay at the fabulous Old Toffee Shop & will be booking a 3rd for next year. 1st Class amenities.Spotlessly clean.Couldn't fault anything. Fantastic welcome pack which was gratefully received. Close proximity to all shops,pubs etc. Parking permit was great as we parked our car up & didnt have to move it for the rest of the week. Bed was the comfiest I have ever slept in. Overall 1st class accomodation.

Lovely property in a superb location.

We loved our stay at this wonderful centrally located cottage. Beautifully furnished with lots of care and attention. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable, we slept like logs every night. A lovely place to return to after a day out or for lounging and reading our books. Spotlessly clean and a very thoughtful welcome pack. We didnt want to leave and to be truthful Im usually ready for home after a week.

A gorgeous decorator finished cottage with every amenity. This is our 2nd stay in this cottage just my husband and myself. Its just perfect, cosy, clean and has everything you could need. Its position is great for walking around Ambleside and not too far from longer walks. Great cottage that we have recommended to others.

We had a lovely stay at The Old Toffee Shop. The cottage is immaculate, it has all of the home comforts you could wish for. It's central location was great, and although we've stayed in Ambleside before, this was without question the best place we've stayed. We will return. Deano and Helen.

It was a beautifully appointed cottage and had everything that was needed and you would ever think of. We loved the decor and furniture. It was perfectly located for us and we had a fabulous time. The parking permit meant that we could explore the Lake District by bus and not worry about the car and where to park it when we visited elsewhere all week. It was all so convenient.

A very good property right in a great location . Ideal location for enjoying the surperb Lake District by day, and Ambleside by night with its great restaurants and bars. The Old Toffee Shop is very well presented with good quality finishes everywhere.

Amazing cottage. Everything you could want is there. We loved it so much we are booking again for next year. When we stayed Ambleside had, had the biggest snowfall for years which made our stay extra magical and very Christmassy.

We had an amazing stay at this cottage Nov '23. It was perfect for the two of us brother and sister with the two bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms which were immaculately clean. Although the overall footprint of the cottage was quite small, the layout really worked well. Kitchen was excellently equipped. The twosofa layout was particularly good for sprawling out in front of the fire. Nice touches were a cupboard of board games and some gifted local produce biscuits were delicious. Location was perfect right in the heart of Ambleside and super easy to get out onto the fells locally, and because it was low season, there was free parking permit required in a nearby car park. Plenty of pubs and shops close by for the essentials beer, hiking gear and food!. There was only one slight niggle that there wasn't a starter pack of logs & firelighters for our first night. It meant after a long drive, our first errand was to go and fetch some logs from the local garage. No biggie, but for us, the log fire is always a must on trips like this and we were looking forward to getting the car unloaded and starting a fire. The plus point, we grabbed a few cheeky pints in the Royal Oak on the way back. All in all, would highly recommend perhaps it would be a squeeze in the living roomkitchen for 2 x couples but spot on for us.

This is very comfortable well equipped accommodation in great location. Spotlessly clean. Only minor issue is car parking but I emphasise minor. Was always possible to get a space on street for the allowed hour and long stay options just a short walk. Would be very happy to stay again and highly recommend.

Amazing time at the Old Toffee Shop! The attention to detail, comfort and quality of the cottage in and out is outstanding. Jo and her team have been superb and the location gets a 10 out of 10 ! The welcome treats are local and set the short break away of to a great start. Highly recommend.

Lovely cottage, cosy but with all facilities. The heating could be a bit easier to use and the provision of bath sheets would be a good touch. The location is excellent being in the middle of Ambleside but on a relatively quiet road.

An amazing cottage right in the heart of Ambleside, easily accessible to the Lakes as a whole. Super comfortable with everything carefully thought out to make our stay really enjoyable. The parking disc was a godsend as was the dryer to cater for all varieties of Lakeland weather!! We would definitely stay here again without hesitation.

I wish that there were more than 5 stars to give this property! Absolutely stunning in every room and has the real wow factor as you walk through the door! I came home and wanted to redecorate my whole house haha. Spotlessly clean. In a perfect location for exploring the lakes and Ambleside. Car parks, bus stops restaurants are so close to the property. A hidden gem!

The property has been renovated to a very high standard, but sympathetically to the style and history of the building. Furnishings and equipment were everything we needed to enjoy a comfortable stay. The property location was superb, both close to local amenities, yet quiet for a good night's sleep after a long hike. Highly recommended.

Beautifully renovated and decorated cottage, and spotlessly clean! Great location in the centre of Ambleside but still quiet with nice thick walls. Fantastic bathrooms and wonderful bath for after long walks. Some really useful walking maps were available in the drawer, thank you. We had a really great week, the Old Toffee Shop was a perfect and relaxing base for our holiday and we did most of our walking directly from there so was nice to mostly leave the car parked. No negatives but just a couple small things there was no cupboard space for food so we put everything on the work surface or in fridge, not a big problem. Recycling bins would be good, there is some info in the folder about the recycling centre but its not clear exactly what you can recycle with an etc at end of a list. We took our recycling waste back home with us anyway but itd be good if guests were actively encouraged to recycle. Lastly the parking info was all great, and some additional info about EV charging in the area would be helpful. Big thanks to Jo and the cleaning team for such a lovely stay in the Old Toffee Shop.

Superbly appointed cottage with tasteful rear extension giving plenty of space for four people. Two bathrooms was a bonus and has a fantastic location in the centre of Ambleside.
