Chapelside Cottage Reviews

Perfect property accurately advertised. Nice and clean and comfortable.
Excellent accommodation most comfortable seating weve had in a long time. Bedroom also very comfortable. Central location in Ambleside

This is a wonderful property, the location is great with views up to Wansfell Pike and just a short walk into the centre of Ambleside. It makes a good base for visiting the surrounding areas. If you get the chance Sunday lunch at the Queens Head Inn, Halkshead is superb.

We had a lovely stay at Chapelside Cottage. The welcome basket, card and Christmas decorations were very thoughtful and kind. The house is decorated so nicely throughout and had everything we needed in terms of home comforts and equipment. We were sad to cut our stay short for personal reasons, but wouldn't hestiate to book the cottage again. It was the perfect location for us, and we didn't struggle at all with the parking as others mentioned.
Excellent accomodation a stones throw from Ambleside town.
Jonathan
This is superb holiday accommodation a few minutes walk from the centre of Ambleside. Its very comfortable and well equipped. We could not fault it and have booked again for next year! The parking is snug, but if you have a driving licence you will be fine! Plus Ambleside accommodation with dedicated parking is like gold dust!

Chapelside Cottage is lovely and really is home from home. The decor, comfort and facilities are top notch, with everything you could hope for. The kitchen is well stocked, the main bed is really comfortable we didn't try the others but I can only imagine they were comfortable too and the bathroomsshowers were great. The location is perfect, just 5 mins into the main town on foot. Parking is fine too I know others have said it's quite tight, and you do have to be careful, but our car is quite big and we managed fine. I would definitely stay again and was very sad to leave.
The cottage was perfect. Excellent location. Exceptionally clean and well equipped, there isnt one thing that hasnt been thought of. Comfortable sitting room and beds. Hosts very helpful. Just perfect!
Caroline
The cottage was furnished and decorated to a very high and modern standard. We had everything we needed for a perfect stay. We loved the views from the lounge area and the location was great, just a few minutes walk from all the Ambleside amenities. We would not hesitate to book the cottage again and would thoroughly recommend it to others.
Excellent cottage, couldnt fault it. Hopefully will return.

We had an enjoyable stay at Chapelside Cottage and all rooms were of a good size. Lovely spacious loungedining area and kitchen. Plenty of crockery, cutlery, and utensils in the kitchen. The beds were very comfortable and everything was very clean. The weather was good and we had some great views from the upstairs windows of the hills which was lovely to see especially in the morning. The only one issue we found was parking the car which took ages and we didn't move the car until we were leaving. We would like to come back at some point but would not attempt to park the car going through a very narrow opening from the road to a neat parking space. It would be useful to have an alternative car parking area in the listing.
Beautiful house in a beautiful setting. There was everything you could need and more. We travelled with 2 kids under 2, and the only criticism we found is the stair gate didnt work looked like some parts were missing. Otherwise a perfect family friendly cottage.
The cottage was spotlessly clean, well furnished and had everything you needed for an enjoyable and comfortable stay in Ambleside. Theres a bit of a steep climb from Ambleside but easily manageable if you have no mobility issues. Having a parking space means you can drive to and from the cottage if needs be. Keep up the high standards Sandra & Alan
A fabulous house with plenty of space for a family of 4 adults. Really well equipped kitchen. Owner and Sykes very responsive. Stayed Christmas week and could not get the T.V. to operate streaming services. Was astounded by the excellent service when we arrived back from walking to discover a replacement T.V. had been delivered. Also had lovely Christmas decorations up so felt festive and even more homely We will be returning again already our third stay. Thank you so much.
First class property in a great location close to the centre of Ambleside. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chapelside Cottage. This was a very last minute booking but the owner took the trouble to liaise with the management company to ensure the property would be ready. The cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival and a very nice touch was to find that it had been freshly decorated since our stay a year previously and that Christmas decorations were up making it a very jolly stay. The beds were comfortable, the heating efficient and easily coped with the December cold spell during our stay. All kitchen utensils that we might need were provided so all we had to bring was our food. There are lots of superb walks around Ambleside and we were able to take a different walk each day without needing our car which remained in the parking bay for the duration of our stay. The excellent local bus services meant we weren't restricted to circular walks. All in all a great experience and we hope to return in the future.
Chapelside cottage was perfect for our girls weekend away. The upside down cottage was spotlessly clean, lovely comfy beds warm and cozy. The kitchen was well equipped just like home away from home. All the girls that stayed for the weekend said this cottage was one of the best we had stayed in. We would highly recommend and can not wait to go back and stay.
Over the last 30 years of us coming to the Lakes this definitely rates in the top 5. You can tell this is a much loved home making your stay that much more pleasurable. Everything is top quality from the kitchen to the overall decor. Brilliant location a stones throw from the centre of Ambleside. Oh the balcony is an extra bonus..loved it. Will definitely be back. We have stayed in quite a few Ambleside holiday lets, this is by far the best. I commented whilst there that 'this isn't like others, which are fine but feel like a temporary place to stay, I could live here! Chapelside has enough space and facilities for a 2 2 family. Everything worked, very nice furnishings, clean, 2 bathrooms of good size, lots of storage, nice carpets, heating is good, lots of space, a balcony and a terrace south facing too. Great location just 100m of moderate climb from the town, but quiet too. We were very comfortable during our stay.
A well presented, bright, spacious and modern property that has been thoughtfully furnished to provide everything that you need for a comfortable stay. Ideally located for exploring Ambleside the centre of which is a 2minute walk away, or the surrounding Lake District. Also has the benefit of offroad parking, which is rare in the centre of Ambleside.

We had a great stay at Chapelside Cottage. The cottage was very comfortable and pretty spacious for a Lakeland cottage. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. These are downstairs, which is good because the living room upstairs thereby gets a better view and more light. The living room has a very good amount of space and is very comfortable. There are puzzles and games as well as TV, which we made use of on the one very rainy day and in the evenings. The kitchen is wellappointed, and again has a good amount of space. It isn't at the cheaper end of the scale, but we felt we got good value for money and would definitely come again. Ambleside is an attractive town, and the centre with good shops is only a few minutes' walk away. I think it is preferable to Windermere which is overtouristed. The only drawback to Ambleside is that the traffic can be very congested. But then again Ambleside is well located and one is likely to have to drive through Ambleside even if one is not staying there. All in all, an excellent choice of place to stay, to which well will very probably return.

Great cottage, central location, lovely village. All amenities working perfectly. Would love to go back!
Lovely cottage in a perfect location. We really enjoyed our stay.
Shannon
Unfortunately, being an upside house, the floor boards creaked above when anybody walked across the lounge, diner and kitchen. If there is an early riser, as we had, everyone else is soon awake. That was the only issue. It really is a lovely cottage in a great location. It has everything you need for a self catering cottage, but due to the creaky boards, we wouldn't stop here again.
A fantastic stay in a well equipped cottage. Loved the new decor and the view from the balcony which changed with the weather. Yes the floor squeaks but it didnt spoil the holiday. We managed to lock ourselves out but prompt response from company and owner was first class. We would definitely book again.
Edward
We had a great time at Chapelside with its great location close to the town center. The cottage is extremely comfortable and well decorated. It would be nice if some small items could be left in the house for guests e.g., salt, pepper, oil, hand soap, spare loo roll etc..
We enjoyed our stay at Chapelside Cottage. The lounge area and kitchen are lovely with great views. However, the constant creaking and noise of the floorboards on the upstairs level was severe. For a house built fairly recently this was very unexpected. It was so bad and we disturbed each other's sleep constantly, we would never return to this property, or recommend it. It would be okay if everyone got up and went to bed at the same time but we didn't. Also, the parking, although there is a designated space that is ample, the access is very tight and precarious
Tracey
We had a wonderful stay at Chapelside Cottage. It was beautifully presented and we loved how clean and bright it was. The cottage is very well equipped with good quality furnishings. The position is very quiet and convenient, with just a short walk in to Ambleside. The upside down living was great fun, giving a fantastic view of the fells from the lounge. We would definitely recommend a stay here and would love to return.
A beautiful little place, we really enjoyed our stay in your cottage. It was extremely comfortable and kept us positive on a few rainy days in the lakes!
Hilary
Wonderful holiday home very well equipped and to a high standard . Would definitely return as we had a fabulous time in a perfect location . Thank you

We had a fantastic stay at Chapelside. It had clearly just been redecorated & refurbished which was lovely. It was spotlessly clean & really well equipped. It is in a great location, only a couple of minutes walk into the centre of Ambleside which is a bustling village with loads of nice bars, restaurants & shops. Definitely recommend & we are looking to return soon.
We had initially disregarded this property due to a recent poor review regarding cleanliness. After reading the owners constructive response to that review we decided to take a chance. We were very glad that we did. The property was spotlessly clean on arrival. The cottage is well equipped and we didn't have to use any of the kitchen and other items that we bring to holiday rentals after previous experience of lack of equipment in other places. The cottage is ideally situated just on the edge of the old town in Ambleside and is only a 70 metre walk or so to two good pubs and around a 100150m into town where there is a great selection of shops, pubs and restaurants varying from Michelin fine dining to casual cafes. During our stay there was heavy snowfall which blocked roads around the lakes for a few days. Due to the proximity of the town this wasn't an issue and there are many great walks that can be made directly from the house so we found no need to use the car. The owner kindly called during to check that we were ok during the snowy period and to check that we could heat the house adequately. The heating kept the house very cosy despite very low outside temperatures. The layout of the house is good with plenty of storage for coats and boots and we found the beds to be very comfortable. Highly recommended and we will definitely stay here next time we are in the Lakes.
The third single bedroom is more of a corridor from the back door and neither of my children felt safe sleeping in here luckily we were a trip of only 3 in a sleeps 5 property. The standard of cleanliness was not the usual expected for heart of the lakes we had used towels in the ensuite and general low level dust and a feel of a good deep clean was in order. The property was well equipped and the main attraction for us was the close proximity to Ambleside shops and ease of access to multiple walks from home. We usually stay in a property in the falls, this was a cheaper option and suited the 3 of us well.
Great property and great location. Kitchen was fully kitted out with everything required. It was clean and comfortable. I would definitely book again. The only small issue we had was that the floorboards squeak and as the bedrooms are downstairs and I am an early riser, it did wake up other people still sleeping. This would not deter me from booking again and just an FYI.
Lindsay
Spacious, well equipped accommodation with off road parking. Set at top of short hill which might put some people off however fine for us. We would recommend staying here.
Great property with plenty of room for 4 adults, with a short walk down the hill to Ambleside for pubs and restaurants. Excellent area for getting to all parts of the lake district. We had a great time and would recommend this property.
Fantastic location. Quiet but only 5 minutes walk from the centre of Ambleside. The property was fastidiously clean and very well appointed even the kitchen, important to selfcaterers like ourselves, and something that lets down many otherwise lovely cottages. We've stayed here twice and would certainly do so again.
Lovely property, comfortable, warm & spacious, great location, had absolutely everything we needed.
Excellent property in fantastic location. Property is well equipped and immaculately clean. Would definitely stay here again.
Lezlie
Property clean, warm and well stocked. Quiet position close to town centre. With the bedrooms being on the ground floor and lack of insulation and shockingly creaky floorboards of upper floor means anyone wanting an early night or a rest has no chance of sleeping due to the noise whenever walking across the living roomkitchen. That would dissuade me from booking this particular property again.
Our second stay here. Superb cottage. Very well equipped. Real home from home. Highly recommended.
