Is Buttermere Right For You?

Discover why this cottage is ideal for different types of visitors

For Families
This property is not suitable for children as it sleeps only one guest. The single-occupancy accommodation is designed exclusively for solo adult travellers. Families requiring child-friendly facilities should look at larger Lake District properties with multiple bedrooms. The remote mountain location and compact size make this unsuitable for family holidays.
For Couples
This cottage is not suitable for couples as it accommodates only one guest in a single bedroom. Romantic breaks require double occupancy properties with larger beds and couple-focused amenities. The Lake District offers many two-person cottages better suited to romantic getaways. Solo travellers will appreciate this property but couples should book alternative accommodation.
Pet Friendly
Pet policy information is not confirmed in the property details. Many Lake District cottages welcome dogs given the excellent walking opportunities. Contact Lakelovers directly to verify whether pets are permitted at Buttermere. The surrounding fells and valleys provide outstanding dog-walking terrain if animals are allowed. Always confirm pet arrangements before booking to avoid disappointment.

Had an amazing holiday from start to finish was a great location to local restaurants and bars
Darren
Buttermere was ideally located, just out of town centre. The apartment is incredibly well stocked with all you could need and very accurately listed. Peter and Avril were great communicators throughout.
Perfect apartment for a stay in Ambleside. Very clean and tidy. Very spacious for a one bedroom flat. Good view of the fells. Good collection of tourist information leaflets, also plenty of books and DVD's which we took advantage of on a very wet day. Loved the welcome pack of wine, chocolates, biscuits and fudge. Totally unexpected and a nice touch. Would love to stay here again, when we return to the Lakes.
Wonderful place for exploring all of the lakes Ambleside was lovely Stairs up to apartment may challenge some Thx for umbrella. Really needed it A few tiny thoughts to improve A smaller drying rack inside the apartment would be helpful as the one in the laundry was huge, complex to erect and took up most of lounge. A second door stop would be welcome. I couldn't get the dryer function on the washer to work. I simple basic wash and dry instruction on the washer would help as there were millions of settings. As you can probably guess it rained all week but I still enjoyed my stay.
Russell
Lovely apartment, had everything we required for a short holiday and the bath was a godsend after a days walking, ideally located just a few minutes walk into town. Excellent
Steven
Great location in Ambleside Nice and quiet with pleasant outlook.
Buttermere is a delightful apartment. Perfect for a couple. Warm and homely and the space is well thoughtout. It's beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and equipped to a high standard. Everything you could possibly need is provided, including some lovely Easter treats! Communication with the owners was excellent. A great base for exploring this beautiful area. Highly recommended.
The owner was very helpful and allowed our visiting son to park in her house grounds. It's a loverly area and we were blessed by great weather.
Briony
Had a lovely weekend break here. The owners were really friendly and helpful, and the apartment had everything I needed. Really comfortable and ideal for walks from the doorstepeasy bus access for further afield if needed. Would definitely stay again.
Accommodation of a really high standard and well positioned to tour Ambleside and further afield in the Lake District. A wealth of printed information provided in the flat about how to get the most out of a stay in this area. Despite some poor weather we were very comfotrable and enjoyed using the excellent facilities provided in the flat by Peter and Avril who contacted us to ensure that we had no problems. We would happily book this accommodation again on our next visit to this area
