Anniversary Cottage Reviews

I've stayed in a lot of holiday cottages and this was amongst the best. Its location is perfect in the heart of Ambleside, on a fairly quiet side street just a couple of minutes walk to shops and pubs. For foodies there's even a Michelin Star restaurant on the corner of the road! The cottage is very well presented, with comfortable furnishings in keeping with the location. What was very impressive was the level of detail in all the equipment provided, with an extremely well equipped kitchen, rainy weather activities and even a parking permit for car parks throughout Cumbria in addition to the one for the road behind the cottage. The owners provided clear and detailed information regarding arrival, parking and other useful information. I would definitely like to return!
A delightful cottage in a perfect location! We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Anniversary Cottage. The cottage was well resourced, comfortable and cosy in the winter. It was ideal as a base for local walks and local eateries. The hosts provided us with excellent information regarding the property and recommendations for places to eat in Ambleside. We hope to return soon!

Our first time at Anniversary Cottage what a lovely place! It is extremely well equipped, comfortable and cosy. Set in the middle of Ambleside, the cottage is an ideal base for walks in the area and an easy drive to Coniston and the Langdales. There are plenty of great cycling routes too and if the weather's not good this year ... rain, hail, strong winds!! there are several places to visit Armitt Museum, Townend, Wray Castle. We would recommend the Priest's Hole pub for excellent food and service. Hope to be rebooking Anniversary Cottage again very soon.
The property was as advertised and in an ideal location for exploring the Lake District. It had everything we needed, was well furnished with uptodatesmart features. There was sufficient space for storing clothes and the beds and sofas were very comfortable, though sitting around the dining table was a little tight. We would book the accommodation again if we were to return to the Lake District.

Sadly I was struck by a bad migraine for half of my stay. However, this was made easier due to the bed being one of the most comfortable Ive slept in, and while very central the cottage is still quiet. The kitchen is probably the most well stocked of anywhere Ive stayed. The cottage was super clean, and the garden compact but very pretty, with birds visiting the feeders. It was a great central location, and my friend made use of the many walks straight out of Ambleside. There is a great chemist 2 mins walk away and lots of shops and restaurants. We travelled by train and the bus stop tofrom Windermere is 23 mins walk from the cottage. We have already discussed going back next year so I can go on the walks I missed out on!
Had a good time at anniversary cottage its a lovely cosy cottage and everything in walking distance
THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL COTTAGE. The information provided by the owners was everything you needed backed up by photographs of the area. The facilities provided were excellent. maybe a bath mat in the shower. But if that is our only criticism there's nothing much wrong. Thank you John & Lindsay
Parking can be tricky. Parking details provided in advance differ with those in the cottage. A sketch showing location of the car parks should be provided in advance as confusing for visitors. Also cottage check in time shows 4 pm and 5 pm
Geraldine
Excellent cottage, close to bus stop and convenient for local walks. Only a short walk to the ferry too via the road and river path. Didn't use the oven etc ate out most days or had salads. Plenty of local pubs serving food, and the coop and Tesco express only minutes away. Didn't use the Alexa but used the dvd. Lovely patio area for sitting on returning to the cottage.
Nicola
Beautiful cottage. Very well equipped. Fantastic location.
Elaine
A lovely cosy cottage, with facilities close by. Being fairly central to the Lake District, it was handy for visiting a lot of places. We sometimes had to use the Rydal Car Park when local streets were very busy.
This is the second time we have stayed in this lovely little cottage. I would highly recommend this cottage. It feels like home from home. Its in a great location in Ambleside with plenty of shops and restaurants to meet everyones needs. The buses are great and there are plenty of walks nearby.
Alison
Our second stay in this lovely cottage. In a great location. A home from home. The hosts are very accommodating. Thank you!
Great location in Ambleside and easy to get to all shops. The house is cozy and love the pictures on the wall. Parking is made easy with the permits provided once we learned were the car parks were. Everything we needed was in the kitchen. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it.
Tracey
A fantastic property in a great location in the heart of Ambleside. High spec throughout. Good helpful information provided by yhe owners
We had a lovely stay at Anniversary Cottage. It was incredibly comfortable and a real home from home. The location was fantastic and remarkably quiet considering how close to the town we were. There were multiple walks right from the doorstep, it was perfect in every way! I would definitely recommend this cottage.
Very well presented and located near to the town centre and grocery shops. Managed to park close to the property using the supplied parking passes. The cottage is extremely well equipped.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Anniversary Cottage. Upon arrival we found everything to be clean & tidy & the overall space was really good for a two bedroom cottage. We were very comfortable there and could easily have stayed for longer. The location is ideal as well with all the local services etc being very close by and the parking permits were very helpful too. A couple of days before our stay I received a detailed communication from the owners which was very helpful and they were also quick to respond to a couple of questions I had. Overall, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Anniversary Cottage for a break. When we venture back to the Lakes then this is going to be our first choice.
Kathryn
We loved our stay at Anniversary Cottage. It was particularly well equipped for self catering which was very helpful, given we travelled up by train and bus and were limited by what we could carry. That said, the Ambleside restaurants are so amazing we only stayed in for 3 evenings and we bought our lunches every day in the Apple Pie bakery or Rattle Ghyll deli. The location was perfect, very central yet we were not disturbed by road or other noise. The little patio area looked a great spot to sit outside, but we were out all day walking and the weather for the week didn't allow by the time we got back. We appreciated the owner getting in touch to welcome us and leaving contact details for if needed. We also appreciated the various books and there was a selection of DVDs and games. For a central cottage, it would be difficult to improve on!
Beautiful homely cottage. Very clean and comfortable, very well equipped with everything you need for a wonderful holiday in the Lakes. This was a perfect little cottage we would definitely recommend it and we will hopefully return to again in the future.
A fabulous property, well maintained, in a great location, and well equipped too. We felt it was furnished and equipped to a high standard. We were three adults and had plenty of space, but the second bedroom is small, and there is no space for a washing machine. If you know in advance, its fine, but doesnt suit everyone. In good weather the terrace is amazing too, with handy garden furniture. There is some noise from people on the street outside at the front into the night now and then. The back small bedroom is quiet. No surprise when in the very centre of the town, which is otherwise a fantastic spot.
A lovely cottage, conveniently located.
The cottage had absolutely everything you would require for a self catering holiday, most of which was brand new and of good quality.
Stephen
Perfectly presented, perfect location, everything you could possibly need to move in.
