Been 5 times to 8 Waterhead terrace, lovely gifts were left for us on arrival which was lovely, its a nice cottage but just a bit noisy especially in the front bedroom as its so close to road, may need new windows, but overall very nice in a great part of Ambleside, had a problem with the boiler on arrival so we had no hot water for a couple of days but lakelovers did there best to get it sorted quickly, would recommend but take some earplugs for sleeping

This property was honestly such a find! We absolutely loved it! The location when you have small kids was great. The facilities within were great, there were plenty of kitchen utensils for cooking in the evening. The kids had lots of different rooms in the house to play in! We have a medium sized SUV and although snug, the parking was perfectly fine. It was genuinely a home from home and we wouldn't hesitate going back. Thank you
The accommodation is beautifully presented very close to lake Windermere. The walk up to ambleside is only 15 minutes,In the accommodation there is everything you need its well equipped, plenty of space for a family of 4,Ive stayed in Waterhead terrace 3 times before but sometimes forget the main bedroom is noisy on a night so if you are a light sleeper, you may struggle with the noise.
The house was absolutely spotless on arrival and smelled clean too. The house is in a great location. It is fully equipped with everything you could want. We really enjoyed our stay and will likely book again!

This is a fantastic place, within walking distance of the lake and local amenities. The onsite parking was very convenient, and the accommodation itself was clean and spacious. There are a couple of caveats worth mentioning its located on a busy main road, so light sleepers may find it noisy though I personally had no issues. During our stay, the temperature was over 25C, and there were no fans provided. A few fans would make a big difference, though I managed with handheld ones through the night. Overall, I wouldnt hesitate to book this place again!
An immaculate and clean property with all of the facilities you could ever need. The location beside the pier is perfect and the property is a lot bigger than advertised. I will definitely stay again.
Claire
Very well thought out property, finished to a high spec. Spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Great location within easy walking distance of shops, pubs and restaurants, Ambleside town just an 18min stroll away. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely stay again.
Great find! Highly recommend. Very close to the lakes. Short walk into the town. Loved the parking space provided, made going out in the car stress free. The house was spotless and had everything we needed for our week away. We took our 5 month old baby and the cottage provider us with a travel cot which was appreciated. Only down side was the traffic on the road and when trying to sleep at night but this cant be helped by the owners and hasnt put us off booking again. Thank you.
Glad I chose this property. Very convenient for walks along the lake particularly enjoyed Jenkins Field a very short walk to the right. Short walk to Borrans Park and the remains of a roman fort, fish and chips nice on the corner and very convenient for buses into Grasmere, Windermere, Keswick and Coniston. Loved the sofa with it's chaise end to relax and the large Smart TV so can sign into your own Netflix account. Loved the style of the furnishings and how it's uncluttered and the simple decor. Three toilets and two showers so convenient if a larger family. We enjoyed looking at the lambs playing on the grass opposite. Great power shower but after testing the temperature it was perfect but then became so hot I had to get out and try and adjust the temperature but it wouldn't get any cooler shower still running. Eventually I turned it off and adjusted the temperature control although wasn't sure what way to turn. That worked and after that the shower remained at that temperature. So it seemed that the temperature had to be chosen before turning on but that didn't make sense to me. More cutlery is needed. There were only two of us so two meals and then no cutlery left unless washed them by hand as not enough things in the dishwasher to start it off. Great that dishwasher tablets were left and cleaning products. Teatowels provided so would have been useful to know as Skyes said to bring own. We travelled on two trains and a bus so couldn't carry too much and every bit of space in bags was needed. For the first time ever on a holiday there was no milk left on arrival and was surprised about this. We would normally have a drink at a property on arrival then walk to a supermarket and buy food and a larger milk either the same day or next day, but the nearest was in Ambleside and after nearly six hours travelling and stress of delayed trains, the last thing we wanted to do was walk to Ambleside and back or pay for bus fare there and back just for milk. Only one key was provided but it said 'keys' in the info. No problem for us but mentioned in case it had not been returned by a previous occupant. It didn't affect us but a small chair under the window would make it more comfortable instead of the large bean bag. 4 adults couldn't fit on the sofa it's not always two adults and two kids staying. Would return if I was to go back to that area and found the property very comfortable.
We loved our stay at this cottage and would definitely book again. Everything was exactly as described and the location was perfect. The cottage was clean, very comfortable and cozy. My only suggestion would be to have lamps in both bedrooms. I highly recommend this cottage!
Second time staying in this cottage and will definitely be back. Great location. Yes, its near the road but we just used the cottage as a base. If we wanted to sit outside we just walked round to the outdoor space of the YHA which looks onto Windermere. Has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The kitboot room and drying room downstairs is brilliant

This is our 2nd time in Waterhead cottage and it wont be our last, despite the weather we had a great holiday, the accommodation had everything we needed its in a very good place to be able to walk into ambleside, the beds are comfy, the kitchen has everything you need, the boot room downstairs is great after a muddy walk,so we will see you again at some point

This property is excellent, beautiful kitchendiner with all facilities provided, comfy beds in both rooms,in a great position for walking into ambleside and for Waterhead pier, the room downstairs is crying out to be made into another area its far too nice for just taking your boots off,the attention to detail by the owners was great, definitely staying here again
Lovely comfortable, warm and spacious cottage. Basement very handy for walking gear. Ideally located for all local amenities. Love Ambleside and this is one of our top 5 places we've stayed in.
Hayley
Fantastic stay, so close the lake Windermere. House very modern and cosy, nice and warm. Really didnt want to leave.
Very well equipped property and very clean.
Great accommodation in a great location. Facilities superb, beds comfortable. Was like a home from home. Loved the area downstairs to unload our walkingswimsupkayak equipment. One of the nicest holiday cottages we have stayed in and weve stayed in a lot! Thanks.
Michelle
This is an amazing house that was absolutely perfect for us. The basement area where you come in on the ground floor with a toilet and shower was great for after swimming and paddle boarding in the lake. Beautifully furnished and has been renovated to a high standard. Parking was great and meant we could leave the car and either go on the boat, bus or walk. Thank you for allowing us to stay there. We had an amazing week despite the unpredictable weather.
We had such a lovely stay at this property, its got everything you need and more. Its a minute walk to the pier which is such a fantastic view right on your doorstep.
Michelle
Lovely, spacious and immaculate property in a great location for exploring the Lake District. The house is in wonderful condition with everything you could need for a great family stay in the Lakes comfy couch and beds, well stocked kitchen, good tv and WiFi, 2 bathrooms and 2 WCs, etc. Everything was clean and really comfortable. The property is next to Waterhead Pier, a minute to Lake Windermere, just a 10min walk into the centre of Ambleside and close to the bus stop to Windermere, only a 15 minute ride away. We enjoyed our stay and would love to make a return visit.
The property was great, in a lovely location and really good value. Ambleside is beautiful, in our opinion much nicer than BownessonWindmere, which we visited and Windmere itself which we drove through. Everything you need in the kitchen. The sofa could have done with a vacuum under the cushions and there could have been more soft furnishings to make the main space a little more cosy, it does feel a little bare, totally understand that it needs to be easy to serviceclean though. We really struggled with the padlock for the parking post. The basement room was a surprise! Could you fit a pool tabledartboard or something in there to make more use of it? All in all, really good property and wed definitely go back. Thanks
Davina
The apartment is immaculate inside very well furnished and with a new kitchen and bathrooms, it was so very comfortable and warm. The location is very good for access to Windermere pier and walking distance to Ambleside centre. I dont hesitate to recommend it. Even better if and this bit below neednt be published An extra real chair would be good for a 4th person, as the sofa only comfortably seats 3, plus a bedside lamp per bedside and some lamps in the lounge area as there is only the main bright ceiling light. I am sure the downstairs entrance room is due for extra furniture use as a sofabed and extra TV lounge. The outside area at the front was in need of some tidying up as part of general maintenance.
Pauline
Can't fault this property at all! It was everything the description said & more! Clean, modern, comfortable, great location & the open plan kitchenlounge was perfect for us. Would definitely recommend & not hesitate to book again if we stay in the Ambleside area in the future, 10 out of 10
The property was absolutely wonderful! Everything we could possibly need was provided which was really impressive. The location was great, very close to town centre, and near the lake. Parking was provided which was important. The cleanliness, facilities, and tidiness of the place was all tiptops. Would definitely go again!
Jaclyn
Lovely stay. Place was lovely! The padlock on the car parking does not work, idea to get it fixed , we got round it in the end but wasn't ideal trying to get in with 2 babies. Other than that, was great.
Had a lovely week at 8 Waterhead Terrace Cottage is very well equipped, warm , good location , We found the parking space brilliant , right at back door of cottage ,lots of space on entering for boots coats all extra luggage bags , we have an Audi A4 managed parking no problem , it is a tight lane though A bedside table at other side of double bed is required, also a table lamp in lounge area , minor points but would make a difference, Definitely would return .
We had a great time visiting relatives in the lakes. A lovely clean well appointed cottage. We shall look forward to staying here again
Hannah
Lovely house which was well very well equipped it was great having the downstairs room and drying rack after walking all day in the rain.
House is immaculate and everything literally is brand new! My one minor issue is that it would be helpful to have a bedside table on both sides of the double bed with sockets! Also, as someone else mentioned, the parking space is small but we had a mini which fitted perfectly. Thanks again. Lovey property and holiday!
25 September 2021. The terraced house was recently renovated we guessed. Most of the equipement was brand new to the extent of some being in the box or wrapper. We had a few minor issues but nothing to worry about. The house is on three levels and we found we did not use the bottom level other than for entry and exit. The shower and bathroom on this level is useful but not convenient as the bedrooms are on the top floor. We did not use the front door at all as it goes out onto a busy road and the back is more attractive and has the parking space. Parking space is tight but OK for most cars. Need to have a tea pot installed. Add one bedside cabinet and light to the main bedroom and other bedroom if it will fit. Chest of drawers in second room has small drawers and not useful. Need one table tamp in lounge. TV is excellent and has all streaming services installed. WIFI is excellent. Overall would recommend this place for 4 people. I would say that the photos on the website do not reflect the better reality think it is because the decor is all white and refelcts the light.
Great location, really clean and bigger cottage than expected. The cottage has everything you can think of. Some road noise but that is well communicated upfront. Will stay again!
The cottage was in an ideal location in terms of being close to the pier and a short walk into Ambleside but the road at the front of the property was very noisy and busy and so we did not use the front entrance as we have two children.
Clearly recently refurbished, spotlessly clean and everything you need in the accommodation. Amazing location with literally everything you need on your doorstep. On a busy road, but this is clearly indicated on the website, so no surprises avoid if this might bother you though as it can be noisy. Too many positives to mention, but being a stones throw from the lake is right up there! Overall, highly recommended.
Fabulous cottage, all brand new and clean, very spacious and comfortable. Fully equipped, space for car, couldnt ask for more!
Beverley
The house is in a good location. Have stayed in better places for the same price, but suspect this is just covid related and everyone having holidays in the uk.
