Is Oakdene Cottage Right For You?

Discover why this cottage is ideal for different types of visitors

For Families
Children have space to play games on the lawned garden area. The open-plan first floor living space works well for board games and family time together. Mountain walks start from the door for active families. The World of Beatrix Potter at Bowness-on-Windermere is 10 miles away. Grasmere village offers child-friendly cafes and the aquarium at Newby Bridge provides indoor entertainment.
For Couples
This property sleeps six and is designed for families rather than couples. The three-bedroom layout and four bathrooms suit larger groups. The village location means the pub and walks are close but the property lacks romantic features. Couples wanting Lake District access might find better suited two-person cottages. The open-plan living doesn't offer intimate spaces for romantic breaks.
Pet Friendly
Two dogs are welcome at Oakdene Cottage. The enclosed garden has pretty hedging that keeps pets secure while they explore the lawned area. Mountain walks begin directly from the village centre location. The porch provides space for muddy paws after outdoor adventures. Chapel Stile's walking routes offer excellent exercise for active dogs throughout your stay.

Oakdene Cottage Reviews

Rachael
Very comfortable cottage, great location with fabulous pubs nearby. The cottage was well equipped with great parking.
Tony
Another great year at Oakdene Cottage. Very well equipped, spacious and comfortable. Lots of walks, long and short, available straight from the property. Great shop and pub in the village. Private parking for 2 cars (3 at a pinch) Would thoroughly recommend
Andrea
The cottage is in a great location with lots of lovely walks from Chapel Stile. Longer walks were made possible by using excellent bus service. The accomodation was fine for a week for four of us.
Lynne
Perfect for a large family celebration. Great property layout, quality fixtures & fittings. Quiet location but in easy reach of more facilities if needed. Lovely setting with walks from the door - easy or strenuous.
Tracey
We had a lovely stay at this cottage just 1 minute from a fabulous shop and two minutes from the local pub. Food was really good despite being busy.
Margaret
This is an excellent location for walkers as there are so many walks from the door and for further afield the bus stops just outside. The village shop is amazing, has everything you need or may have forgotten!, and is staffed by friendly and helpful local people. Car parking may look tight but we have managed to squeeze 3 cars in and still not block field access, helpful to have a 'look out on the road when you are going out.
David
A very well situated and comfortable cottage.
Nicholas
There are many plusses to this property and we would return. The living area on the middle floor is very good. The kitched is well equiped and well stocked. The downstairs bedrooms are fine (if a little chilly in January) and two ensuite bathrooms with a third house bathroom is a big plus. The biggest source of disatisfaction for us was that some of the information still displayed on the website is inaccurate or incomplete- examples; the entrance is via a firescape staricase to the middle floor and there is no access at ground level. the key pick information excluded the fact that there are two seperate key boxes on the side wall of the property and the one for the cottage is not all obvious Response from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your review. The website has been updated to reflect correctly. Thank you.
Tony
The cottage is in a wonderful location. It's very comfortable and well equipped and great bonus is to have dedicated, off-road parking. The kitchen units have been refreshed, with limited success, but at least tried ! Welcome pack was very poor. This was our fourth time here, and we'll be back !
Maxine
Had a lovely time in this cottage. Handy for the bus just a few yards away. A convenience shop also very near. Lovely walks. Hair dryers are in the cottage although when asked they were not sure. Local pub near cottage too. Nice cottage.
Peter
A superb cottage in a excellent location.
Frederick
Very comfortable, but there is a noise from the boiler room whenever someone opens a tap or flushes a toilet. Not an issue during the day but noticable at night when in the twin bedded room.
Helen
Great cottage in a great location with a high level of finishes inside to make your stay so comfortable
Lewis
I wouldn't recommend this cottage for families as it is very noisy, not very clean and you can hear whoever stays next door on holiday too (unless you book them both out). Location is great - chapel stile a lovely quite part of the lakes.
