Fell View Reviews

We expected the property to be quite close to Ambleside but it wasn't we couldn't have walked it anyway. The property lounge was nice but the kitchen, shower room and the double bedroom were very cold. The running water was very slow also the kitchen cookware needs updating.
The cottage was lovely and clean and warm. It was lovely and quiet and a good base for walking. The beds were comfortable. We only had a few problems which were the door handles. At one point the door to the porch would not open. My partner was outside and I was stuck inside. After we managed to get it open we never closed it again. The door handle in the twin room came off. The door in the double room also needs attention. The hot water tap runs really slowly. I tried to have a bath but it took so long to run the water was cold. The shower was alright but there was no fan so we ended up leaving the window open. We sat out on the varanda in the sun it was lovely. We did enjoy our holiday but the doors need attention.
Cosy cottage in a wonderful setting with stunning balcony views. We had a lovely stay!

The property is in need of an upgrade. We found that it smelt bad. That was in the bedrooms and lounge. Probably in need of a deep clean. The bathroom bath panel wasn't fitted properly. I saw a mouse in the kitchen reported it but was told well you are in the countryside with lots of droppings on top of the washing machine. The shower room was built into what was originally a storage cupboard, ie. Long and narrow and with panelling rather than tiled. I woukd say the inside has been done cheaply and not expected to last. The hall cupboard had some items but again I didn't feel it was cleaned properly. Games looked grubby. The carpets probably needed a professional and regular clean to remove smells as otherwise looked in quite good condition. An upgrade to the TV would be another improvement The bedding was clean which helped the stay. The kitchen looked in reasonable condition. The exterior balcony was great and in the sun. The location was perfect with walks from the bedroom door into the woods and fell. We always walked into Ambleside, so doable. With some improvements as mentioned this could be a great property. We are returning but have chosen another property near by.
Pauline
We loved the property, cosy and comfy. However we thought the cleaning service or whoever looks after the property could do better. In the bathroom we were left an empty handwash. The lid of the bin wasnt attached and all that was required was to click it back in place. The bed was huge and very comfy but the sheets didnt seem to fit I dont sleep with a pillow and when I removed the pillow the sheet did not cover the mattress. Sorry to moan as we had a great holiday and hope to return. Please dont share the above on a review but the scores are fine.
Alethea
The cottage was nice the view was the best part of the cottage it was amazing. Probably wouldnt go back again, the cottage was a little tired looking and needed some maintenance also its was a steep walk up the driveway.
Gillian
The property location was a short walk into Ambleside either up the Fell at then back off the cottage or the main road. Lovely walks on the doorstep in all directions which was amazing. The only downfall were the very skinny flat pillows on all of the beds. I would definitely recommend to bring your own. Apart from that we loved it.
Lovely accommodation, second year we have stayed here, very peaceful surroundings.
Gillian
A delight to stay at Fell View very clean and exceptionally comfortable. We had a lovely time and would book again.
Philip
Window in hallway was leaking during heavy rain. Kitchen hot tap runs really slowly. We, or at least our dog, discovered a mouse behind the settee which we guess might be nesting underneath. Otherwise house was clean and beds were comfortable.
Property was comfortable , great position for exploring south lakes . Would definitely look at staying again . Minor improvements Kitchen was adequately equipped, perhaps a couple more pan options . Missed having a cafeteria and perhaps a few more serving casserole bowls . In Twin room 1 mattress cover n duvet when bed stripped was heavily stained .
Although in a lovely location, the property would benefit from some general maintenance and repairs. The double bed was broken and had a poor repair using duct tape. It was not suitable for sleeping on so I slept on the sofa. The plug socket in the double bedroom was insecure and we felt was dangerous to use. Some lightbulbs were broken in the twin room and living room. The patio deck is in poor shape, needing some paint or varnish. We didnt spend any time out there, even though we had great weather. Some care to the external courtyard would also be more welcoming and offer an inviting place to sit. It appears that abuse from past occupants has taken its toll. To conclude Lovely location, but in need of maintenance and a spruce up.
Annette
The property was excellent, lovely comfortable beds, nice furniture, situated perfectly for walking and exploring, lovely balcony and chairs to catch the afternoon and evening sun, well equipped with everything you need, very clean throughout, could just do with a bit of a clean in the corners, skirting boards and windows but thats just me. Would we return, yes most definitely, loved it.
Vanessa
A truly lovely week spent at Fell View. My family and I enjoyed our stay in this beautiful location. The wonderful walks literally from the garden gate were stunning and then returning to the lovely cosy cottage was ideal. I do recommend a torch if walking later in the evening but dont forget to take in some stargazing on route. The cottage was well equipped and the lounge was very comfortable with beautiful views.
Convenient, comfortable, warm and spacious in a great location.
Fell View was a lovely flat, part of a conversion of a large country house. Excellent location for seeing the area and a quiet, peaceful spot to relax. Very comfortable, including the sofas and beds. Lovely views from the terrace. Cleaning was generally good but a few points worth note Inside of the bathroom cupboard was dirty with a grubby recent electric toothbrush ring on the shelf, and lights were festively adorned with cobwebs. There was no welcome pack, a first for us in many years of self catering, and no specialist cleaning products left in respect of the toiletseptic tank, although we were left an empty bottle and clear instruction's ! There were no arrangements in place to change linen in the middle of the fortnight, and when we requested this they didn't turn up on the agreed day. They did apologise and show the next day though after another call.
Fantastic apartment, peaceful and well located. Wonderful to have a balcony and also French doors out to the garden in the master bedroom.
Philip
Very comfortable cottage , really enjoyed our stay here. possibly could do with some more kitchen utensils, also a a lack of info about the cottage there is a lot of switches some with lights on and had no idea what they did. otherwise a very good holiday.
Elaine
We were really pleased to find everything we needed and more, the beds were super comfy, great kitchen, the balcony is perfect for relaxing. Everywhere we wanted to go was within easy reach for walking or driving. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return for a guaranteed good holiday. Thankyou.
Jacqueline
Beautiful property, pleasant views from back of property. Would definitely return. One note for dog owners the gardens are not fully enclosed if this is important to you
A great location for walks without needing the car. Take the small gate in the front garden into the woodland surrounding the property. Follow the Todd Crag path for beautiful views of Windermere at sunrise. From there you can drop down into Ambleside or walk further north for Loughrigg Fell and Grassmere. The apartment was a welcome retreat. Comfortable living room, well equipped kitchen, cosy bedrooms. The only disappointment was a fairly feeble shower but there is a bath if you prefer. Would definitely return!
Alison
Lovely cottage in very quiet area. Unfortunately our fault we arrived after dark so it was difficult to find the actual entrance, the outside lights werent that great , but we met someone staying next door who assisted. Comfortable living area, furniture seemed quite new. Extremely well equipped and immaculate kitchen and facilities only think missing was a whisk. Lovely decking area over shared garden and some great walks directly from the cottage. Could improve heating in the shower room as towel rail does not heat the room enough. Blinds in bathroom could be updated. Slept well in the comfortable bedroom with lots of storage for clothes. Overall, lovely cottage and would return and recommend.
Had a fantastic break for a week at Fellview. Set in such a peaceful, quiet location with lovely garden views and not too far from Ambleside. Exceptionally clean and well presented throughout. We will definitely be back in the future!
We very much enjoyed our stay in this great single level apartment which is in a very quiet location but with easy access to Ambleside. Secure off street parking is also a big bonus. The apartment has a very well equipped kitchen and the master bedroom has a comfortable bed although pillows are a little bit past their best . The enclosed courtyard and the spacious back garden were great for our little dog to be let out in safety for toilet breaks. We visit The Lakes regularly and would happily book this apartment again if it is available. Thanks for a great stay
Michelle
We really loved the property layout bungalow with 2 bedrooms, it was the perfect size for us. happy to find a fully stocked kitchen choice of mugs, etc we have stayed places where there are one mugbowlglass pp and the washerdrier got used thanks to lake District weather! There was a little wear and tear esp in main bedroom and bathroom but this is possibly as end of season and wouldn't put us off coming back
Lovely modern cottage. Very comfortable stay equipped with everything you need and very clean. Lovely balcony off the lounge and patio doors off the bedroom. Only a 5 minute drive into Ambleside where there are plenty of lovely restaurants. Would highly recommend this cottage to for exploring the Lake District.
We were delighted with Fell cottage. There was everything we needed and more! It made a perfect setting for a relaxing break. I had chosen the property because of the walk in shower for my elderly sister. As it happened she had a fall and couldn't come. Shower was excellent but I could have done with some sort of hand hold for the step down out. It would just give a bit of security. I held on to door frame but not ideal. Directions to house were good.
Edward
Great location, clean and well equipped. We will definitely book again.
