Best holiday home expedience ever
Brilliant. We are in our 80s and this property is exactly what we wanted. Car parked up for the week, two minute walk to bus stop, ten minute walk to Ambleside, ten minute walk to the lake. Cottage lovely. Flowers and wine. Everything in cottage one would need. Even had a bird that visited us every day in that lovely little garden. Don't usually holiday at same place two years on the trot but have booked already for 2026.
Barbara
Another excellent stay at Bank Foot with everything we needed. Great walks from the door, pubs, restaurants and bus stop just a very short stroll away.
Andrew
Everything was lovely. Only very minor point is that a spare bin bag would have been handy given small size of bin in kitchen. But otherwise all was top class. Super garden. Great location. Well equipped kitchen. Thank you.
We have found it quite difficult to find holiday cottages for two that we really like, so we're glad to have discovered Bankfoot. This has been our second visit. The cottage is comfortable and in a good location. We like to leave our car for the week and use public transport, so it's great that the bus stops at Hawes Garden centre are 2 minutes away. The star is the lounge leading to the lovely garden please let there be sunshine!. Parking is an issue. We can just about squeeze our small car into the garage, but if you have a larger car, you will struggle. Some small negatives, perhaps the owner could supply a door stop for the Kitchen door, and maybe some new mugs
Lovely little cottage with a delightful garden. Very welcoming, with wine, flowers and a welcome slate sign on the door. Very clean cottage with everything you need for a lovely stay!
Lesley
Absolutely lovely holiday in a beautiful location just a shame it rained most of the time! Cottage was perfect and the garden was beautiful. Very peaceful and private. We put our car in garage and got the bus everywhere. The flowers chocolates milk and wine were a lovely touch and very appreciative. Must apologise to owners as we forgot to leave a review in the book. Only a small criticism, more toilet rolls please and the shower mat was very dirty other than that it was perfect
Glenda
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at Bank Foot and Ambleside. The cottage was exactly as advertised and was very clean and perfect for the two of us. We enjoyed evenings relaxing in the garden. Restaurants, cafes, shops, pubs and the lake were all an easy walk away. Yes, the tiny garage was tight and our car did hang out a bit, but we didnt even use it for the week. If we werent walking, we were catching busses and boats. One thing Id like to let management know of is that it would be a good idea to label the red power switch in the kitchen that provides power to the hob and oven. Not being a UK resident, it did take me some time to realize why the hot plate on the hob was not getting hot. No mention of the red power switch in the information folder either. We would definitely stay at Bank Foot again. Very much appreciated the bottle of wine and the fresh cut flowers. Thank you.
Another lovely stay at BankFoot. Nice to see the property has been well maintained and small improvements are ongoing. No doubt will visit again.
Tracey
Lovely welcome with daffodils and milk! Bankfoot is really comfortable with a beautiful bedroom and cosy lounge to relax after day on fells. Really useful having a garage and gorgeous garden to sit in. Hope to return very soon.
Always a joy to return to Bank Foot and will rebooking in the future. Centrally based for the village, the start of many walks and bus terminus so you dont need the car to visit other villages or the starts of extended walks.
Gillian
We have been before and each time we have been very pleased with the cottage. It is very comfortable and cosy and a lovely place to stay.
Melvin
Fantastic company to deal with
Our second visit this year and just as enjoyable as the first. Bankfoot is a real home from home , very comfortable and welcoming. Its perfectly located for the town and walks. The garage is on the small side but we never had a problem to park close by on the roadside. Have already booked our next visit!
This was our eighth time at beautiful Bankfoot. We just love coming down. House is always immaculate. We have found amazing restaurants, great walks, and this time we put the car in the garage and used the buses. We can't speak high enough about Bankfoot and the surrounding areas. We booking for next year. Ian &Jane Smith.
Alison
An excellent cottage and location, flowers and a complementary bottle of wine was a beautiful surprise
Richard
Lovely comfortable cottage. Very relaxing place to stay and so handy for walks from the door and walking into town.
Bank Foot is a delightful cottage accommodation with a beautiful little garden area. The welcome treats from the owners a also a really special touch.
Philip
We have been visiting the lakes for over 30 years and found bank foot to be high ... We have been visiting the lakes for over 30 years and found bank foot to be high up on our cottage list in comfort and cleanliness with great little garden to sit out in, one small point a small step leading out into the garden would help but this is for someone in there late 70s and a member of the dodgy knee brigade but this should not hinder you youngsters who visit bank foot haha
Lovely cottage in an ideal location for both the lake, Amblside and the bus services. Great to have somewhere to park safely and we will definitely return.
Perfect in every way. Thank you for the milk and Prosecco! Yes, the garage is on the small side but free road side parking is available with patience and a bit of luck. Have already booked a return visit.
This was our first time at Bank Foot and we loved every moment. The lounge is the star. Comfortable and bright, with a lovely outlook through the french doors to the delightful garden. Unlike many holiday rental properties, Bank Foot has a excellent television really that should be standard everywhere. The DVD player wasn't working unfortunately. Hopefully that is now sorted
Barbara
So pleased with accommodation and location that when we returned home we booked again for next year.
George
A very cosy, comfortable and clean cottage in a very good location. Would happily recommend to others for a lovely vacation.
Stephen
The only problem we had is the garage space which was very tight for our car. Otherwise we had a nice relaxing week.
Lovely property with an excellent location. The garden a real bonus when the weather is good
We love staying at Bank Foot, the fact that this was our 6th stay is testament to this. Great location, so many fabulous walks from the door, being able to leave the car in the garage. Cottage really comfortable, nice to be able to access an enclosed garden through the patio doors.
Christine
A thoughtfully presented property with everything you would need. Clean, comfortable and spacious. Beautiful little garden lovely to sit in. Would certainly return.
Melvin
Best place we have e stayed at. That's why it's our 7th visit
Love it all, fab cottage, shame about the weather. Would love to stay again.
Andrew

We have regularly used this property over many years and are already booked to return in 2004
Bank Foot is the perfect place to stay in Ambleside. It is a beautifully presented cottage with everything you need both in comfort and in practical terms. The views of the gorgeous garden from the living area are a wonderful bonus . Its spotlessly clean and well maintained . We hope to stay here again.
Gordon
The cottage is in a very good location, convenient for shops and a starting point for a number of walks. It was a weight off our minds, not having to worry about parking. Our car, a Honda Civic, fitted into the garage comfortably. The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable. The welcome goodies of wine and chocs were much appreciated.
Ideal cottage for two, with secure private garden. We have stayed here on multiple occasions as the location is so handy for local shopping and walks as well as a comfortable base for planning journeys to the rest of the attractions in the Lakes.
Phillip
