Rose Cottage Reviews

Suzanne
Cleanliness not as we would expect. Old tissues found under the twin beds. One cereal bowl was filthy with dried cereal. Ball of dust and fluff found under the dining room heater.
John
Beautiful cottage, in a great location. Well equipped and cosy. Great walks in all directions. Windermere, Grasmere and Coniston all within walking distance. Bus stop opposite cottage so great transport links. Britannia pub across the road. Parking is tight but was no problem.
Karen
Lovely property in excellent location. There were comfy beds and the showers were good. Bus service at the door made exploring easy. Parking was difficult with a large estate car. Lots of local restaurants/pubs. Would be happy to stay again.
David
Great cottage in excellent location for walking and cycling. Hourly bus service right outside. Cafe next door is currently closed but Britannia Inn across the road is more than sufficient.
Brenda
A pretty cottage but very dark due to dark furnishings. Parking is very poor. Staircase difficult for people with mobility problems.
Jonny
The cottage is ok, but would benefit from a deep clean, and the gardens tidying up so they're properly useable, as they were quite overgrown. The parking space is extremely tight, only really suitable for a small car rather than medium. Location is great.
David
Standard of cleaning poor The shower extractor dripping with hair and cobwebs, oven Stank because of the accumulation of fat and dirt. cupboards with bits of food in. Vacuum cleaner full and parking a joke. Front and rear gardens overgrown and much of the Crockery has seen better days. Response from holidaycottages.co.uk - Thank you for your comments, these points have been raised to rectify.
Tim
A good location and a lovely quirky cottage with a parking space, enjoyable location to stay in but watch the sloping floors.
Paula
Beautiful place and location I will go back as it is central and buses are very prompt that stop literally across from the cottage and they take you to Ambleside where you can pick up buse to surrounding areas
Carys
Rose cottage was very cozy, warm and comfortable. It was well positioned in Elterwater village and quite close to the pub! However, the parking was very tight especially if you have a large car.
Jonathan
Rose Cottage is in a great situation close to the Britannia Inn in the centre of Elterwater with plenty of stunning walks right from the front door - just as well given that getting a car in and out of the parking space is difficult. Generally well equipped with good beds and good showers. Downstairs could benefit from some updating - including the information folder!
Fiona
The cottage had an excellent location with an enclosed small garden to front that was a sun trap all day. We didnâ??t use rear garden Bot bathrooms and kitchen were modern, clean and well appointed
Fiona
Lovely well-equipped, comfortable small cottage in quiet location. Parking the Golf was challenging- not easy to find the right place- a second car problematic as the National Trust car park is quickly filled each day and no overnight parking. Easy walks nearby so great for more 'mature' people like us!
James
A lovely warm, comfortable, cosy cottage which was very well equipped in an excellent location.
Lottie
The cottage is fantastic and well equipped. There are some negative comments on the reviews about parking - we had a landrover and managed fine. I think the negative comments say more about the reviewers driving competence! Itâ??s the Lake District not an NCP - couldnâ??t fault anything
Lionel
Good base for walking holiday. This cottage is in central location with good size kitchen diner and comfortable beds. Decor and furnishings are tired and dated . For all practical purposes parking space is unusable on a regular basis.
Deborah
The cottage is in a very good location, it is a reasonable size for 4 people and whilst the bathrooms are modern, the rest of the cottage felt a little tired. The parking spot is rather difficult to negotiate and not really suitable for larger cars.
Jill
We have emailed a letter to Customer Services expressing our dissatisfaction with the property - especially the 'so-called' car parking space and the non-functioning of certain items in the cottage - we will leave it at that.
Susan
Rose cottage is a really comfy and beautiful typical cottage. Itâ??s very well equipped for a lovely home from home holiday. As itâ??s a cottage the ceilings are low and the windows are small. Elterwater is a great location as itâ??s easy to reach other places easily & there is also a good bus service. Please note: the parking space isnâ??t easy & is tight.
Cheryl
The living room was very dark, the dark furnishings and dark carpet did not help and the sofas/ chairs were not comfortable. The picture on the website very misleading. The bathrooms were excellent and a lot of equipment in the kitchen which was great.
