Loughrigg Reviews

Francis
Apartment is spacious, well equipped, very comfortable, comes with a veranda and table overlooking the fells, good position for Ambleside too, would recommend this site.
A lovely apartment in a fantastic position in the heart of Ambleside albeit a steep path to the centre. Very comfortable, warm and well equipped throughout. Especially useful having a parking space in central Ambleside. We will hopefully return.
Lovely apartment with excellent views and very central to town and walking
Stephen
A lovely comfortable and clean apartment in an excellent location. Extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The views over Ambleside and beyond were as good as anywhere and the bright and clear weather made them even better, especially when sitting on the balcony with a hot chocolate! The Christmas welcome hamper was a lovely treat from the owners, many thanks. Our thanks to the owners for a very peaceful and enjoyable stay. We would certainly return.
Enjoyable stay
Philip
Our second stay here. Definitely recommended!
This very centrally located property, with parking, was warm, very comfortable, and very well equipped. We enjoyed our weeks stay with fabulous views and will be back next year.
Andrew
Great views Great location. The apartment was spacious, comfortable, very well equipped. We would definitely stay again. It's position, close to the shops and restaurants and plenty of walks. We've stayed in lots of places in the lakes this must rate among the best. Thanks we'll be back.
Raymond
Lovely well equipped apartment in an excellent location. Will love to return.

Loved the apartment, well equipped, plenty of space, very comfortable. Loads of hot water etc, very comfortable and warm. Unfortunately due to the very steep access to the apartments if walking, we will not be revisiting the apartments, we have spent many holidays here in other apartments. Our ageing legs wont take another trip up the path.!!!. I have to say that I have 2 small points to make, the tiles behind the sink in the upstairs bathroom are covered with black mould pointed out in a previous review and also the mugs in the kitchen, ones with the birds on the outside of the mugs. All these mugs are full of fine cracks in the enamel, a breeding ground for bacteria, so we avoided using them. I admit these small things are the only negatives in this lovely apartment.
Perfect location for hiking in the Lakes. Special views from this special holiday home. Very spacious, comfortable and clean, if a little dated. Great beds, super power shower but shower cubicle very small. Lovely bath tub for soaking in after long walks. Kitchen is very well equipped. Missed having a washing machine for sports gear. Plus a welcome pack of shower gel etc would be nice. Would book again for ease of location and parking.
No issues with the duplex apartment whatsoever. Comfortable, well appointed with many extra quality features. Never tired of the view irrespective of the weather! A few observations. The car parking is tight. Large cars parked together make difficult entryexiting. The pedestrian access to the property is very steep, luckily we needed the exercise! Cleanliness did not achieve full marks due to the black mould in the shower and around the upstairs sink ,area easily remedied with Cillit Bang mould remover or re silicon.

We had a very good holiday here, the apartment was lovely and well equipped, especially in the kitchen, views were lovely. There was a lot of late night noise from the White Lion Hotel, just below the up until 1am which was quite annoying. The windows of the apartment were old and didnt cut out the noise.
Lindsay
Nice accommodation with lovely fellside views. Very well equipped just missing a couple of 1pint glasses for the beer drinkers. Great to have off road parking didnt need to use car all week. Excellent bus service too. Might not suit less ablefit as access is up a short but steep hill. We would stay here again.

This is a lovely property, well appointed, nicely decorated and in a great location overlooking the town with views to the hills beyond. We really liked the books and games available to use. A couple of things to improve the property 1. The doors all need adjusting as none of them shut properly this is mainly an issue with the bathrooms where the door would pop open on its own 2. When the sun is out, the upstairs gets very hot making sleeping difficult. Appreciate the windows only opening a little is the design, but with no other way to let heat out, hooks to open the skylights would have been very helpful
Kathryn
We had another fantastic week at Loughrigg apartment and just love it. Fantastic views and very comfortable, with everything you need. Plus a great selection of books and leaflets to browse through.
Nicholas
The property is of an exceptionally high standard, spotlessly clean, really well equipped and larger than the images in the description indicated. Well located for the town, buses and walks, providing you can manage the hill or steps. A wide range of local information is provided in the magazine rack. We particularly liked the West facing balcony which has fantastic views and is large enough to eat out. It even is partly covered to keep the rain off. We would be very happy to recommend or stay here again ourselves. We would just make two comments Firstly, the curtains in the living room are for show. They don't close making it difficult to sit on the sofa or watch TV when it is sunny. Secondly, the polite request in the info folder to vacate the property by 9.30 on day of departure is a bit off when the booking is until 10am.
Vivien
The property itself was super. It is with Lakelovers as an organization that caused so much dissatisfaction. Communication as you encouraged through W.App was abysmal. Calling you on your landlinecell was abysmal. Several enquiries after booking, in the months leading up to our booking, and trying to reach you for help while staying in the apartment led nowhere. Your response mechanism does not exist. We can only assume you have few if any real people at the end of a phone line to give help and assistance. We will never use Lakelovers again, and although we have used your company before, would dissuade anyone friends or family from doing so. Again, the property was first class which is a credit to the owners. Lakelovers is I suspect AI run, or it gives that impression from our experience.
Philip
Excellent flat in superb location.
Such a lovely apartment with fantastic views and we're definite suckers for a view! Brilliantly equipped kitchen for the couple of nights we cooked. Comfy beds, plenty of towels. Heating good once we worked out the heaters and plenty of hot water. The owners have thought of so many little extras with the apartment which makes it home from home. We'll definitely be back.
Great set up. Perfect location.
Vivien
Thankyou for an absolutely fantastic week in Loughrigg! Your apartment is very spacious, well equipped, comfortable and warm and cosy to return to after a long days walk! We loved the views over the rooftops of Ambleside and the fells beyond, perfect to watch the sun go down and watch the occasional jet go through the valley. Will definitely love to come back!!
Nice, well equipped maisonette. Good location with lovely views of the fells. Always good to have an allocated parking space when staying in Ambleside.
Lovely duplex apartment, very centrally located with incredible views over Ambleside. Very comfortable and well appointed. Very quiet despite its central location. Would highly recommend.
This apartment is great, loved the view across the rooftops of Ambleside to the hills and woods. All the rooms are a good size, spotlessly clean, warm, and quiet. The kitchen is wellequipped with plenty of pans, plates, and utensils. The shower room is good, and the parking space is conveniently offroad and near the main entrance.
Great holiday lovely apartment. Spotless clean a great views with everything you need!.the only caution I would give is if your on foot its quiet a steep walk upto the apartment. Also the apartment door lockhandle may need replacing at some point as its getting a bit worn.but couldnt fault this place and great location, would definitely book again. One place to note ,If you walk to the end of the car park and down the little slope make time to visit the waterfall which is signposted directly to your right as you get to the bottom of the slope!.About 15 minutes gradual walk uphill though the trees but lovely
Andrew
Lovely property in a great location overlooking Ambleside. Would happily return.
Francis
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. View from the floor to ceiling window in the kitchen made dining such a joy. Very comfortable sitting area and pleasing artwork of local landmarks on the walls. Powerful shower downstairs with the added bonus of a deep bath in the upstairs bathroom for a long soak after climbing Loughrigg. Good to see recycling bins and parking is almost outside the door. A well equipped kitchen Sabatier knives, nice glasses and even Emma Bridgewater mugs! We shall miss drinking our morning coffee out of them looking at that wonderful view.
The apartment has beautiful views of the town below and the hills beyond. It's a very comfortable and homely apartment well furnished, clean, and with plenty of kitchen utensils, crockery, towels, welcome pack, etc. It had everything we needed we especially loved the balcony. We would book this apartment again.
Everything perfect, couldn't fault it, very homely highly recommended.
Maureen
The apartment is comfortable and well equipped. A pleasure to find kitchen utensils that were in a very good condition. A minor point, provision of a disposable dishcloth or sponge to wipe round the kitchen surfaces would have helped. Paying 900 for the week you dont expect to have to go into town to buy one.
Kathryn
We loved our stay in Loughrigg apartment. It's so central, just 5 mins walk to the main streets, shops and bus stops, yet very quiet. It was extremely comfortable and homely, well furnished and with plenty of kitchen equipment and general storage. The views were incredible. Yes, an uphill walk is involved in getting to the apartment we did not bring the car, but there are ways of making it easier. We preferred to access via the path near the Salutation Hotel. With luggage, on return, it was easier to use the roads rather than the shortcuts. We would definitely return.
There was no welcome pack that we have in the past. Not expecting one but if there were not being supplied then we should have been told. We would have bought our own tea, coffee and milk had we had known. You property description said less than a mile from shops etc, no mention that it was very steep to get there and back. Very difficult to understand what rubbish went in what been also parking disc were available both not mentioned in the information file. Having pointed out minor points really enjoyed stay there
Catherine
A beautiful place to stay, looking over Ambleside with the most stunning panoramic views. Close to everything, extremely clean, nicely furnished and wellappointed, we felt we were living in luxury! We liked the clearlymarked recycling bins which feel like a must for selfcatering these days. As always we much appreciated the welcome pack waiting for us but also as always found ourselves buying a bit more toilet paper on the secondlast day it would be lovely to have just a couple of replacement rolls as standard. A maintenance note a hall light and an upstairs bathroom light began to flicker and buzz during the week. We could neither find replacement bulbs or take the lighshades off to fix this so ended up draping things over them. Overall this was a glorious place to return to after walking or just to be in, taking in the everchanging skyscape and watching the life of the town below.
